Sure enough John called back and said he could be here the next morning at 7:30am. He arrived right on time. After some connections checked it was found that it was a riser pipe that had been hit with a trim nail years ago. Had to cut open the wall, put a new piece in and tested. They said they would be here between 8:00 and 10:00 and at 8:00 the doorbell rang. They had the new hot water heater installed, removed the old one and the area cleaner than when they arrived all before 10:30. Curtis walked me through the settings and operations as the old heater was from 20 years ago, and lots has changed over the years. He explained all the features and answered all my questions. Curtis and Scott were very professional and pleasant to deal with. I know they will be my first call when I have a plumbing need.

While he was under the house I told him that the clean out valve under the kitchen sink was also leaking. Turned on the water to show him and he agreed, it was leaking. We also discussed a leaking Moen kitchen faucet and he took a picture of it to get the replacement part. While they were here, we also discussed possibly replacing our water softener. 5 months later having heard nothing from them, I asked if he could recommend a faster plumber. He said they never came back because we didn't reply to the estimate he sent us for a water softener. We never received an estimate or a bill. The water softener was not our main priority when we called him. Our main priority was the leak under the house which was fixed our heating company. No, I'm no plumber but as a retired Navy veteran, I understand that fixing the leak is always the main priority when multiple tasks are needed. If a light fixture was not working in the room where the leak was located, the priority would not be getting an estimate on replacing the light fixture. The main priority should always be stopping the leak. I would think that might translate to the plumbing industry also. We had three leaks and they fixed none of them. We did not call them out here to mail us an estimate for a water softener. We called them out here because we had leaks. This isn't rocket science. To top it off he said he wouldn't come out here even after finding out that we didn't get his estimate because he didn't like my attitude. Well I'm sorry, but after waiting 5 months and hearing nothing back from them I think I'm allowed a little leeway in temperament. He had our landline number, cell phone number and address but we heard nothing from him. He said because he didn't hear back from us, that's why he didn't come back to fix the leaks. So I guess the bottom line is if he can't sell us a water softener, he's not going to fix our leaks. I guess all he saw was dollar signs when we asked him to send us an estimate for a water softener. Poor customer service and zero follow-up with the customer will lose you money every time. He said he didn't call us because he didn't want to bother us. Unfortunately the US postal service is not as reliable as it once was so he was never going to hear from us. I doubt we will ever see his estimate, late or otherwise. From my point of view, we called about leaks under the house and in the kitchen sink and got no help. He got upset when I called him out him about not getting in touch with us, and he was very rude about it. I'm not the bad guy here. I'm just the customer with leaking plumbing in the house 5 months after calling this guy. Buyer beware.

However, almost without exception, everything needed repairs and adjustments. The new thermostat refused to work, the a/c and humidifier blower was so loud we had trouble hearing the TV, water dripped from the bathroom exhaust fans (and still does), and the exterior grate for the exhaust fans rusted. After many, many service calls, most of the problems were fixed with the exception of the dripping exhaust fans and the rusty grate, which they refused to replace. We paid a high premium for Eickmeyer's services, mostly because of their reputation, but we were sorely disappointed.
