a variety of donuts in a box
    Nicole G.

Took a wrong turn and stumbled across this hidden gem of a bakery! My friend and I walked in and were greeted by a friendly fun lady by the name of Barb (aka: the owner). She had us smiling. We stopped in for a donut but ended up leaving with a dozen and two sugar cookies. The raised maple donut was a favorite of ours. However, all were tasty. The bakery appears to have been around for sometime. Small little clean bakery. Also, cannot beat the incredible prices. Will visit again when I'm back in the area.

Still great donuts and they still run out early. But we try nearly every time we get to Duluth.

Brought a half dozen 8 hours back to Chicago, my family demolished them in 10 seconds flat. Crème weighed down the middle of these beauties. Long John was so delicious too.

I think it's been over two years since I wrote a Yelp review, but Today Johnson's Bakery served me what may have been the single finest donut I've ever put in my mouth. Sweet, but not too sweet, both flaky and soft, and just all around what a body hope for in a donut.

This place is excellent and very inexpensive. If I wouldn't die an obese diabetes ridden man I would eat there every day.

The best Bakery in Minnesota! I use to stop at Tobies on my way home from the cities until I remembered Johnson's was 10× better!

My kids (and my wife and I, let's be honest) really love the S'mores cookie but that Thunder cookie is pretty darn good too. You can build a pack of cookies with that day's flavors, 6 cookies will run you $12.50. Cookies are crisp and chewy, a good mixture of soft and crisp. If cookies are not in your diet, there is an assortment of savory breads and breakfast pastries as well. Back to those fruit bars, their blueberry bar is great. Full of fresh fruit with a touch of vanilla, so good!

The baker who checked me out was really friendly and happily answered my questions about availability and some day-old loaves (they have discounted day-olds!). Went in to get a baguette but it turns out they're an "occasional" item so I'd call ahead to ask. Ended up getting a couple things I'll note below. I'd probably put them around the quality Duluth's Best Bread but I like supporting a much more progressive place that gives back to the community. - An almond croissant that was solid for the price. Not mind-blowing, but wasn't too dense like a lot are. The flavor was really good. - A loaf of the day-old multigrain that was still excellent. Used it for toast and as a vessel for some A+ salmon dip from Northern Waters - Dog treats! It was neat seeing the fundraiser and always love getting a snack for the dog. They're not smelly, made from simple ingredients, and the pup loved them

I loved the prosciutto topped with Gorgonzola and fig - it's the best combination. Ian was our server he was awesome, thankfully we were able to get a table today, the last time we went on a whim they were slammed so I highly recommend you make reservations. Our reservation was at 4:30 around 5 they dimmed the lights - setting the vibes, I love that. Great experience!

It's unique, it's amazing, and I happen to love bananas. The counter lady told us they have the best cream cheese frosting anywhere. So I got the Apple fritter also as my back up . I asked for a coffee, but they only had drip so I was like yeah this is a special day. No thanks to the coffee. So we weren't feeling too good about what we got from the bakery . We could tell that she really was more of a commercial baker so I really wasn't sure what we're going to get. So I tore a chunk of the apple fritter off, and I was blown away . It was the best apple fritter I've ever had in my entire life. Later that night, I decided to try the maple long John despite the fact that there's custard inside it . It was the best efffing donut I've ever had . I hate custard - but this custard was light and creamy and zero greasy after taste. I will think of these donuts for the rest of my life and all others will fall short.
