Before heading up north I googled must stop bakery and Duluth's Best Bread was at the top of the list! I didn't realize they had three locations and it probably would have been more convenient to go to the Lincoln Park bakery but alas I found myself on the Superior side. Grateful though as parking here was easy, it wasn't crowded, but you can tell it's a local hot spot. They offer tons of cute activities for the community and have plenty of seating for you to enjoy your baked goods! I got the pizza danish, a caramel roll, and a crunchy munchkin cookie. The pizza danish was really good! Super interesting balance of herbs, pepperoni and cheese on a fluffy danish. I think it would have been better slightly toasted but that might have changed the danish to not be as soft. The caramel roll was absolutely AMAZING. Probably the best caramel roll I've ever had to be honest, I don't usually like walnuts but it was a really great balance to the super soft and fluffy roll. Usually I find caramel rolls to get too hard but it wasn't at all even after eating it a few hours after I purchased it - so delicious, I might get another on my way out of town! The cookie was my least favorite - it was more like a shortbread cookie, a bit flavorless and just buttery and a bit dry. read more

In town for business and Duluth bread recommended as a local business to visit. We ordered pecan rolls and coffee. Pecan rolls were very good but coffee nothing to speak of- downside was barista. She was only worker and away from counter when we arrived for about five minutes. She left a note. So we waited. She was a bit abrupt. She controlled the half and half and wouldn't let me touch container and she determined what quantity was needed. Later, as we ate our roll, she attempted to place a blackboard above a cooler. She failed, it fell on her head and knocked coffee supplies to the floor. Another customer checked in on her, asking if she was ok. She replied she was fine. Customer then said that what she had done wasn't safe to which barrister responded that her commentary wasn't welcome. If I come back I hope she's having a better day and has a more pleasant demeanor. read more

The service was great and staff is friendly. The pastries are amazing. The bread is fresh and delicious. Very clean establishment.

Ambiance in there is quaint and super cute. Staff was super nice and friendly. They sliced my sour dough for me (could not slice the cheese curd one but that makes sense. Cheese probably gums up the machine). I love how accommodating they were and the suggestions helped. I tried a Nutella or chocolate hazelnut croissant - cannot recall the name but the flavor was a bombshell. Very good. FYI to all the peeps that like a croissant from Spain or France.. these are not like that. They are more dense and richer. If you are used to croissants when you travel, this is not the same. Still very good. Better in certain ways but not the very light, very buttery ones you find abroad. All was reasonable. I think it cost me about $20. Well worth the price of quality and not gut-aches because their sour dough is done so well. I am not gluten free but I definitely try to eat very low on the gluten scale. They hit the mark. I'm giving 3 stars as a benefit of the doubt as they've only had this location open a short while. Out of the two employees working, only the younger gal seemed to know what she was doing. The other employee made our two drinks and really seemed to struggle even though it's an automated espresso machine. The latte I had was very weak with the Maple syrup and cinnamon, which I don't typically mind as I love a good espresso shot too peek through, but this espresso was very weak. With my son's hot cocoa she was kind enough to bring us the additional steamed cocoa that was left in the pitcher as the cup was half foam. I gently recommend retraining employees on this machine so everyone can feel confident in their abilities. The gluten free cookie I'll rate 4/10. It was overpowering in sweetness and was flatter then a pancake. Very very chewy. Their gf items aren't baked by them so definitely try some of their gluten items if able! The croissants and loaves of bread looked and smelled like heaven on Earth! And omg the scones are beautiful and thick! read more

The service there is wonderful. Everytime I go, Jasmyne is very kind and helpful in recommending what is new. The ambiance is relaxed and welcoming, the smell of fresh bakery items and coffee that should made into a candle! The bakery items are always fresh and delicious, I love going back to try their new recipes. I recommend this to everybody who wants a morning or afternoon treat. read more
