The reason I'm having to drop 1 star off my review is about a week ago I took 2 rods in that had the tips broken off and they said they could fix them. After they were repaired I drove about 30 minutes to where I was planning on fishing and after about the 3rd cast I noticed the tip on the rod I was using was turned almost 180 degrees from the direction it was supposed to be facing. I checked it and it was very loose and would freely spin around on the rod tip. After a couple hours of fishing like this I decided to go to another nearby spot so I went up to my vehicle and checked the rod tip on the other rod they'd also repaired that morning. Even though it had not been used for a single cast yet the tip on that rod was also loose and able to be easily turned around. I considered driving back to Holland to have them repaired a 2nd time at this tackle store since they obviously owed me a proper repair job since I'd already paid for one but not gotten what I'd paid for, but then I got to thinking that with my gas guzzler I drive I would have spent an extra $8 on gas to drive back to Holland and then come back to the area where I was fishing. So instead I took both rods to a nearby tackle shop. They looked at the rods and assured me they could easily fix the other tackle shops repairs and make sure it was done correctly this time. They did exactly as they promised and then they really surprised me by not even charging me for the rod tip repairs. I'm sure the reason they did it at no charge was because while there I did spend a fair amount on some other supplies, but still it was a nice thing to do that they certainly did not have to do since I was prepared to pay their normal price for the repairs. I do like this tackle shop and the men that work here are really friendly so I will continue to stop in and pick up supplies and get information from them. However, I won't be bringing any rods in here for any repairs in the future since they let me down the 2 that I recently brought in and paid $5 each to have the rod tips repaired on and they were not repaired correctly.

To the owners if you read this. . . INVEST some money back into your ASSET. Your letting it run into the ground, Stop being greedy short term and do some maintenance / upkeep. There were others when I thought, "Hey, this place isn't so bad!" Why I thought this was a one-starrer: *The carpet. Old, stained, smelly. Rip it out and replace it with tile or linoleum. Carpet generally is a bad idea in rental cabins. *The sofa reeked of wet dog. * Ventilation. There are two large picture windows in the main area of the cabin, which give fantastic views of the cabins across the driveway and the parking lot of the state park next door (yes, and Lake Mitchell too, barely), but don't open. There is a tiny window next to the stove that slides open, and if you open that, then leave the front door open (leaving the screen door closed), barely enough air will circulate to keep the temperature tolerable on a hot night. The bedroom windows swing in to open, which means they get caught in the curtains and you never get a nice steady draft though the night. Seriously, if you come in summer, bring a fan. Or two. *The ceiling tile was wavy, and one ceiling light was partially detached. Why I thought it wasn't so bad: *Aside from the carpet, the place was generally clean. * Shower was large, water pressure was good and there was plenty of hot water. *Cooking/eating ware provided was cleaner, in better condition than in most other cabins we've stayed at. We usually bring some of our own, but probably could have gotten by without that here. *Bed was fairly comfortable. *The charcoal grill provided looked relatively new and clean. There is quite a bit of road noise here, though we've spent time in the area before and knew that going in. Our neighbors on the other hand were quiet for the most part. While I can't wholeheartedly recommend this place, if you do need a place to stay in Cadillac, you can probably get by here. I think it could actually be quite pleasant with some renovations.

We are 6 adults, and four little girls ages 5-7 We range from beginner to experienced with kayaking. Just before we went out, the weather changed so we came back in after half an hour. We ate in the restaurant while it poured, and then went back out for another 90 minutes. We got out on sand bars to visit and play. The staff couldn't have been more accommodating and helpful. A staff member provides a comprehensive review of the boat and it's features, and then you are free to cruise the blue-green waters of the Chain O' Lakes all day. The pontoon (20' Hydrotherapy) was clean and comfortable, the canopy kept us shaded when the sun was hot, you have swim stairs in case you want to stop at a sandbar and cool off, and there were no issues at all with the motor. Plus they give you a map showing the lakes in the chain, detailing which ones are no-wake so the day was relaxing and trouble-free from start to finish.
