Local food business trying to get a part for my swamp cooler. My exhaust servicer suggested me to go there to get a barring for cooler wheel, but they only sell to contractors. What a joke!!! I always shop at larry's and joe's which i picked up most stuff but they didn't have the barring size that i need it, and when he told me about johnstone, i knew exactly where it was. I walked in unaware of contractor only shop and asked for a freakin $7 part that i would pay for retail price just to fix my swamp cooler asap, but the guy refused me. Tried to explain that i am local business supporting you even in this chalenging times, he still refused. I clarified that the job is so small that i dont need to contractor to help me or simply wont take the job, but still stuborn enough to not understand. They will not strive like this since there is so much competition and new tech companies making simple and easy enough for general public to do easy tasks. I will give example of nest thermostats that i just changed, that didn't need professional contractor and very easy enough to change yourself. Not gonna sell much thermostats soon dear johnstone supply. Have a bright future. Suggestion, go do a meeting with your team and make some changes like simple items that does not need a profestional to fix it and if a owner has the time and ability to change, you should be smart enough to sale it. i bet you if i go ask for a any motor belt, they will still refuse to sell. "Sure" the guy with the missing teeth and the 3rd grade education says, "I can sell you this, what contractor company are you with?" I own a small management company. I sent my worker to Johnstone Supply Northridge to purchase parts on Monday, 7/13. The store manager Matthew was very kind to him when he had a technical question about one of the parts he had purchased, took time to answer questions and give advice for the installation of the part. In my opinion Matthew gave information which was helpful and beyond the call of his duty. My worker was appreciative and told me so. I would recommend that anyone who is authorized to do business in a wholesale establishment (they are not open to the public, you have to have an account or be licensed in the trades) do business with and ask for Matthew. I lived nearby for many years without realizing that being a property manager enabled me to open and account at a wholesale business that isn't open to the general public. They mess with people. I've avoided this store for 6 years. Everything is a big joke to these guys. I was near the store and I told them I needed a part match that I wasn't sure about. They handed me a part that was different. I said it doesn't look right. I went to a different supplier who simply explained that the new part is an updated version. They made me drive across town for the same part I tried to buy at Johnstone. HA HA real funny, you guys are a riot! Johnstone should have changed the management of this store years ago. read more
