Just to confirm this review is for the 1025 Stanford location, I know there's the 1020 Crocker location which is a block or two down and when I passed by it seemed close so I didn't even try to enter. Before going I had read all the reviews on Yelp. And as seeing how negative they were I still didn't understand why on tik tok had a lot of small boutique business owners always posting this place. So I decided to go and see for myself. I fell in love. I registered as soon as I walked in, showed my sellers permit and within 5 minutes or so I was already browsing around. They have three floors I only went to the main level and the third where the bags and hats were. They have shoes, earrings, necklaces, rings any type of accessories, nose piercings, little packs of hand sanitizer ANYTHING you can think of they have available. Customer service was amazing, I wasn't stalked as previous reviews say. But I did have a couple of people ask if I needed help and once I said I was just browsing they'd accept it and move along. And when I did have questions there was always someone around to help. There is a minimum, first time you have to spend $150 and anytime after that it's $100. They have a parking structure and I think the first two or three hours are free with validation. I'm not to sure how much it is after. I believe you could also shop here as a regular customer but you don't receive the same pricing as business owner. read more

Serious Concern About Rude and Unprofessional Employee - Kay To whom it may concern, I've been a loyal wholesale customer of your store for a long time. I own two shops and frequently shop here to restock our supplies. I've always appreciated the variety your store offers and had every intention of continuing to buy from you -- even as we expand into other states. However, after what happened today, I'm extremely disappointed and feel the need to share my experience. Today may be my last visit because of the unacceptable behavior from one of your employees named Kay -- a Korean woman, likely in her 40s or 50s, with shoulder-length hair. Her attitude was cold, unhelpful, and disrespectful from the moment I asked a simple question. While she was doing inventory, I politely asked if there was a sample for an eyeliner product. Her response was a short, blunt "No." That was it -- no explanation, no effort to assist me further. Then, I noticed a small bag containing three eyeliner pens and gently looked to see if they were sharpenable so I could better explain them to my clients. Without even looking at me, Kay said, "Don't open if you don't buy." I hadn't even opened anything -- I simply looked -- and still, I respectfully placed the item back exactly where it belonged. While I was discussing it with my husband, she spoke out from the other side saying, "We only sell wholesale, not retail," as if that justified her attitude. I explained I am a wholesale customer and that I only asked about a sample -- something any business owner would do before buying in bulk. Instead of trying to help, she continued to speak at me with a rude tone, acting as if I wasn't welcome. I finally asked to speak to a manager, and her response was to point and say, "There -- that's the manager," in a dismissive way. This confirmed she is not the manager, but even standing near the manager, she made no effort to act professionally or respectfully. I want to be clear: I've always had good experiences here -- except with Kay. Her behavior today made me feel unwelcome and disrespected as a loyal business customer. Came here for the first time ever and it definitely won't be my last! The level of customer service from the moment I walked in the door til the moment I completed my purchase and left was 5 star worthy! I've never shopped in the downtown wholesale district so I didn't really know what to expect. I read so many reviews of other customers saying certain places had horrible customer service and how the shop owners treated them I was a bit cautious even going near any of the stores. I called ahead of time to make sure Joia had the products I was looking for, after being transferred around 3 different times to various departments I finally got in contact with a gentleman named Emmanuel. He was able to confirm they had the items I was looking for and gave me a quick rundown of what to do when I got there. When my son and I arrived the gentleman at the front desk was already told I would be arriving and he was happy to set up a Joia account for me. All that was required was my ID and sellers permit (which I happened to have a copy on my cellphone). With all this COVID-19 stuff going on he did take my temperature as pre-caution as I see was protocol with all customers walking in. He was friendly and made casual small talk while he worked on jotting down my info into their system. Once he printed out my Joia membership card he was kind enough to let me know how they operate at the store. Basic information like where different departments were located, minimum purchase quantity etc. He also let me know he'd notify Emmanuel that I arrived. So my son and I walked towards the department he advised would have the items I was there to purchase. Within a few minutes a man came up next to me, at first I assumed he was another customer but after a minute or so he asked if I was looking for a specific product. Of course I let him know what I wanted and he introduced himself as Emmanuel. Let me tell you, he provided EXCELLENT customer service! Not only did he show me where the products were and pricing but he offered to count all of them for me to make sure I had the right amount. He pulled out a shopping cart with baskets and put each item in their own location before guiding me over to where the registers were and explaining to me how to check out. The man at the register was kind enough to package up my items in a big box for me. He also offered to bag it but I figured with the weight of the item it would be best in a box and easier to carry. He also taped it shut so nothing would fall out and padded the box with bubble mailers. I was surprised when he offered to carry it out for me, mentioning that it was heavy, but ultimately I did decide to carry it myself since I didn't park too far. Great service though! The whole experience was great and I'm glad I decided to give Joia my business. The process was fairly simple. Just like shopping at a regular store only Joia has a HUGE amount of inventory. You are required to have a membership (which is free) and a sellers permit to shop at their store. Both of which I had. Also note that if paying via debit or credit card there is a 2% fee so if you'd like to bypass that remember to bring cash! Also note that they have TWO locations very close together. Initially I went to Joia on Crocker st but the man there told me Emmanuel was on the Joia location a block over. I ended up driving there even though it was only on the street directly behind Crocker because I knew I'd be carrying a box of heavy items. It is only street parking so you might have a bit of a walk if everything is taken. There are also alot of people around so be aware of your surroundings at all times but the people that work at Joia are super friendly and very helpful if you need anything or have questions, as I learned with my visit today. It's like they're afraid I'm going to steal something. I did not feel comfortable shopping here. I felt discriminated and kind of racial profiled. As I was about to pay at the register, for a necklace and some hair clips, I was told I can't make the purchase unless I buy in bulks or have a business license...? Okay........? Then don't be open to the public. Or say it or have a sign at the door- rather than waste people's time allowing them to walk around your store to yet feel discriminated and uncomfortable and denied business because you're not meeting up to their standards of "buying in bulk" or a business owner. read more

I love this place! A friend recommended this place and so we came. I was not aware of such a huge selection of accessories they carried. I wasn't expecting 3 stories of amaziness! 1st floor consisted of jewelry, belts, make up, etc. 2nd floor were bags, and 3rd floor is were bulk merchandise is located. If you own a business dealing with fashion or are looking for gifts this is the place to be! The prices are what makes this store great! It is priced below retail and the quality is good not great. Remember you get what you pay for. Double check your items for any damages because so much people shop here they could easily have accidentally damaged an item and placed it back without telling staff. This place can get busy and crowded. The staff here are awesome! They were so helpful and attentive. They assisted when needed and was ready to answer any questions I had! Bravo to the staff! Such a good variety of items but there customer service is sooo bad! First of all when you are shopping you feel followed by the employees. They will actually stare at you while you are choosing your merchandise, it's the weirdest feeling! I really don't how people would be able to still big packages. I wouldn't waste your time here. The owners/managers are very rude and think that everyone is just there to steal. The workers in this store harass and stare you down while you're shopping. It's uncomfortable to look around freely when they are standing a couple feet away staring directly at you like you're a thief. The workers are very nosey and gossip to one another. The pricing situation is confusing. There was a miscommunication of pricing so I asked the cashier for me to step to the side and recalculate. He gave me everything in the pink bag and I stepped to the side. All the workers kept asking us why we had the bag and was digging stuff out. They followed us everywhere we went and took the bag away from us. At one point, we had like 3 workers watching our every move. Much of their merchandise is damaged right out of the packaging. I bought two expensive handbags that were scratched and had uneven coloring in multiple places. I have since stopped buying inventory here because they are EXTREMELY rude and invasive and get in the way by hovering over you and asking a million questions when you try to check for damage. this review is based off a visit from a few weeks ago. i had to write it after hearing about another friend's experience. i, unfortunately, had a horrible experience at the joia store on crocker street. i ended up running into that same woman that everyone is writing about being extremely rude. i know this because i read all these reviews in advance and hoped joia would have done something about it, but i guess not. i asked her questions like "where can i get more information about registering?" and "did i need to make an appointment beforehand?" and she just shook her head and said "you have no idea what you're doing, right?" so then i asked again if i needed to register online and she said "maybe..." i'm half black btw, and so many negative reviews are by other black women; therefore, i've concluded that the older white female associate in glasses is a RACIST and its a shame cause she's driving away money from that business. i walked a few blocks down and found another joia location that was much larger. the guy at that store was so much nicer and approachable, and actually helped me out. he gave me step by step guidance on what to do so that i can shop at joia. he even gave me a business card, told me to come back, and said that he'd be more than happy to help get me started!
