My favourite farm in the world is Maplewood Farm as it is truly such a North Shore gem. it's…read morewholesome, and family friendly for a fun day surrounded by animals. You can feed the ducks at the pond (most of the time), watch and pet the goats climbing around, and see horses, cows, bunnies, sheep and more. It fills me up with joy being around nature and animals in such close proximity to a very crowded area. The staff are kind and care for the animals impeccably, which makes this special farm feel community-focused. It's one of the local go-to spots that kids and adults equally love and enjoy.

There's paths to walk, shaded picnic areas to hide under on hotter days, and over 200 animals and birds to view. Horses, cows, chickens, peacocks, potbelly bigs, rabbits, oh and... a ton of goats. One of our favourite parts is the "petting zoo" area where you can get up close and personal with goats who love scritches. The farm hands are friendly, handwash stations are available, and parking is free. What's not to like about this place? I find it very relaxing to be amongst the animals and on a farm when most of my time is spent in the city or glued to a monitor. It really puts things in perspective. In any case, I think it's worth a couple hours of your day to stop by and say hello to some majestic animals.

Drive into the beautiful, sprawling farm and you'll be greeted by the friendliest goats, sheep, chickens, and two farm dogs. Make a left at the farm stand to say hi to the wonderful farm crew - the real-deal farmers that actually raise the food that feeds the island as well as any visitors lucky/smart enough to stop by. Inside the farm stand/shop you'll find freezers full of goat, sheep, & pork products, along with the occasional beef and/or salmon, farm-fresh cheese, cajeta, and ice cream, seasonal produce, and a selection of felted friends, spun yarn, and sheepskins. This place is amazing. It's what the overpriced "artisinal" city shops aspire to, but it's authentic - the farmstand selling the products made right there on that very farm. Pet a goat, chat a bit, and stock up on the best meats and other farm products you'll find in the PNW.
