You can feed the ducks at the pond (most of the time), watch and pet the goats climbing around, and see horses, cows, bunnies, sheep and more. It fills me up with joy being around nature and animals in such close proximity to a very crowded area. The staff are kind and care for the animals impeccably, which makes this special farm feel community-focused. It's one of the local go-to spots that kids and adults equally love and enjoy.

There's paths to walk, shaded picnic areas to hide under on hotter days, and over 200 animals and birds to view. Horses, cows, chickens, peacocks, potbelly bigs, rabbits, oh and... a ton of goats. One of our favourite parts is the "petting zoo" area where you can get up close and personal with goats who love scritches. The farm hands are friendly, handwash stations are available, and parking is free. What's not to like about this place? I find it very relaxing to be amongst the animals and on a farm when most of my time is spent in the city or glued to a monitor. It really puts things in perspective. In any case, I think it's worth a couple hours of your day to stop by and say hello to some majestic animals.

A self guided tour... and many areas to explore.. I have this thing with wanting to see the monkeys.. ( had so much fun in Japan).. First stop was the Amazon area-.. it gets busy so we stopped there first-.. Got to see the small monkey- so cute playing.. The dolphins, jellyfish, all had wonderful displays.. Picked up a few souvenirs to take back..

I loved the outdoor areas- watching the little seals and otters was so cute. They had otter soccer at one point but it was WAY too crowded to see. I did get to view other otters from a different angle and they were so happy and silly. It made me smile. Loved the frogs and that you can see different exhibits in a multi-level way. The rainforest area was also really cool. Saturday in May was BUSY!!!! Frequently super crowded areas, felt a little trapped at times. I tried to stay outside and on lower levels for better viewing. Even with timed entry it was still pretty hectic. Would love to return on a quieter day. Wasn't super impressed with the food options, but I also don't see why you would need to stay long enough to eat here- go back into the city!

Are you visiting British Columbia and looking for a little different adventure for you and the…read morekids? If so, I'd recommend a visit to the Greater Vancouver Zoo. Located less than an hour outside of downtown, it is home to 140 different animal species featured throughout its meandering 120 acres. Children under the age of 3 are admitted free of charge and a visit typically takes 2-3 hours. While your little ones will probably enjoy roaming the grounds on foot, you can also rent a Safari Cycle or Critter Cruiser and unlike every zoo that I've ever visited, you are also welcome to use your bicycle, scooter, rollerblades, skateboard, or wagon while exploring their nearly 2 miles of paved walkways. These are some of the largest animal enclosures that I've ever seen at a zoo and they provide you closer access to the animals than you might expect. If you anticipate that your little ones will be WAY into this adventure, and ask you animal related questions above the standard parental pay grade, well then you're in luck because guided walking and mini-bus tours are available. In addition, if the herd you are traveling with is in need of a short break from all of these animal encounters you can enjoy the picnic area, playground, and restaurant. Expect that by the time you make your way to the exit you'll likely see smiling faces asking how long until you can return. And that's...Henry's Take. #greatervancouverzoo

Visited the Vancouver Zoo in Abbotsford during the summer, it was super fun! The zoo has so many…read morecool animals - hippos, red pandas, wolfs, lemur, and many more!! It is also pretty big! The zoo also has a train that takes you around the entire zoo, however, it is very hard to spot animals while in the train. We paid $8/pp for the train. I would saying best way to spot the animals is walking. Since we went on a hot day, it got very tiring to walk the entire zoo and gave us half way. I wish they had water fountains in the zoo because it is so big and there is only one water fountain by the entrance which makes it hard to come back all the time to fill it up. They did have porta potties around the zoo though. They also had a light bites and souvenirs at the entrance. Would probably visit again during a colder day so that I'm able to go around better. :)
