I feel sad to write this review because Cheryl is such a nice person. But I feel like I was ripped off and I will not be returning. I spent 270$ plus tip for what should have been balayage in the bottom of my (short) hair with a blonde streak in the front. All I got was the blonde streak in the front. For some reason she did not put enough color in the bottoms of my hair and I left with only the blonde streak. She did say if I come back she will add more color. Maysaa is my absolute favorite. I haven't dyed my hair in years because the last place I went to did a terrible job, but I've been getting my hair cut by Maysaa for a while and she never lets me down. As an update, Rad never made an attempt to return my calls, despite his claims. I've had the same phone number for 15 years and have no missed calls from the day he said he called. It's funny how quick the salon managed to contact me once I left a negative review on Yelp. The salon claims they want to do whatever they can to make it right for me and yet, when I requested a refund, I was completely ignored. If they had explained why I wasn't deserving of a refund, maybe I would have been more understanding but to completely ignore me for over a month? Just plain rude. If this is how they treat a loyal customer of more than 5 years, just imagine how they will treat you! I highly recommend taking your business elsewhere. read more

I've come to Jon David a handful of times since I moved to the area, each time just asking for whoever - because I don't get my hair cut enough to have a regular stylist. I've never had any problems getting an appointment for about the time I want one, and I've been pleased with all of my haircuts. My stylists have listened to what I wanted, and generally have given it to me. They are all friendly too. The main reasons for the star deduction are that you can't tip on a credit card (which seems like a ploy to get ATM fees from their in-store ATM), and I haven't been blown away by any haircuts, hair washes, or products they've used. read more

After *three* bridal trials with my wedding H&MU vendor that was the antithesis of what I wanted, Cheryl came in for the save and ROCKED my updo look two days before my wedding for the trial, and knocked it out of the park again on my wedding day. I am very sensitive about getting my hair cut but I decided to try this place because I badly needed a haircut. My experience here was great and I loved how they took care of my hair. I wanted to cut off 1-2 inches depending on what the stylist thought and she did a great job with it! She cut my hair with care and I didn't feel rushed at all. They shampoo your hair for you before your haircut and ask how you would like to get it cut, and then chop chop. I got so many complements from my coworkers the day after that I recommended it to one of them to go. She also loved her haircut so I can't say better things about this salon! It might be tough finding last minute appointments but you should call them if you're looking for something soon. The staff there are very friendly and they were very accommodating. read more

I was desperate to find an affordable haircut living in DC, as all I wanted was a trim. This place has the option for you to see a junior stylist starting at $40, so I booked an an appointment. I came and got my hair cut, which was a fine experience. She took about 40 minutes to dry and style my hair which seemed like a waste of time; the actual cut took about 5-10 minutes. When I went to pay, they charged me $62, which ended up being over $70 with tip. I was taken aback at the time so I didn't say anything, but out of curiosity I emailed later to ask why it was so much. I understand that when a website says "starting at," it doesn't mean you're going to pay that. But for just a trim, I didn't expect so much higher. The answer I got was extremely rude, re-expressing to me in all caps that the website says "STARTING AT," and then going on to lay out the specific charges for different lengths of hair and how mine had an extra charge on top of all of that because it's long. Extremely poor and rude customer service when I had simply asked a question -- I was not complaining nor being rude, I was simply asking. And if they have such a specific menu of costs, it should all be laid out on their website. August 17, 2016, Wednesday 10AM: I heard about them the Best of Woman's Haircut 2015 from Northern Virginia Magazine. I have an appointment for shampoo, conditioner, treatment, haircut trim, and blowout that my hair is damaged from another salon who doesn't know how that work for woman's hair, oh dear. I was upsetting, struggling, sad last Sunday morning till last night about damaged hair end by a flat iron with high heat (very hot) by two Korean ladies I'm no longer attend to be there anymore. So be it. So, I went to Jon David Salon with professional hairstylist PJ. She is my first time. I did explaining with her what happened on August 12, Friday. She knows how I feel that way about damaged end hair. She educated me about retouch & highlight every 4-6 weeks and haircut trim every 6-8 weeks. Spring & Summer are fast growing hair than Winter. How's interesting. My hair is done. I am VERY happy after all, seriously! I did hug PJ twice and we enjoy our conversation. My hair is healthy, smooth, soft, silk really, oh my gosh! I walked outside from Jon David Salon to my home while everyone is greeting, smiling, waving, and talking to me about my hair. I will be back there again in September for retouch, highlight or something. September 23, 2016, Friday 10 AM: I was at Jon David Salon today an appointment by 10 AM. My hair is done by 2:15 PM. I'm VERY happy to see a Professional Hairstylist PJ again! I asked a Professional Hairstylist PJ that I would like retouching, highlight, or something. If not, what her suggestion for me. She had me two options. I asked her whatever you do but please make me pretty. She does it everything on my hair, awesome! This is my first time wow, fantastic! Cannot say enough good things about Jon David Salon in Arlington. I've been going here for over a year now and I've never had a bad experience. Solid customer service on the phone and in scheduling appointments. Wonderful location, nice ambience, and a very welcoming environment. I'm always offered water, tea, or coffee, and there is a coat closet where they take your coat. PJ has been my stylist since I started coming here, and she is INCREDIBLE. I cannot recommend her enough. She is so kind, listens to all my wants, and even gave me my new hairstyle when I just said "I want something new!" Visited the Jon David Salon in Arlington last night for a root touch up and blow dry. My stylist, Darima, spoke with me about my color expectations prior to applying any products to my hair. She took the time to explain the process to me and made me feel feel comfortable the entire time. After the coloring was applied, I was comfortably seated in a chair, while the coloring took effect. After which, I had the best shampoo experience (wish I could remember the gals name) and returned to Darima's station. Again, she went over my styling expectations, asking about what types of products I used, which were my favorites, etc. Very engaging - thank you! After my I left left the salon, extremely satisfied. Have always enjoyed my haircuts with Rami! He's been cutting my hair for over a year and I always walk out feeling good and like he did exactly what I asked. My haircut is pretty low maintenance, but I appreciate his efficiency in cutting and then the time he puts in to styling it afterward. Also appreciate his expertise in brainstorming styles for upcoming formal events, and getting his input on what would look best with my face shape and outfit! Nice and clean salon, but my experience with "expert stylist" Rami was super disappointing. He told me that the cut I want (and normally get for specific reasons) wouldn't look good on me and just cut whatever layers he wanted, which ended up being super uneven. About halfway through, his shampoo girl let him know that a regular client had walked in and wanted a cut, and the rest of my appointment was clearly SUPER rushed to get her in - I was in and out for a shampoo/cut/dry in less than 25 minutes, which is insane. Not to mention, there was zero product put in my hair to help it dry or protect it from heat, and now my freshly trimmed hair is already dead from the blow out. Not worth the $60+. read more

Worst experience at a salon. My appointment started over an hour late because no one showed up to unlock the doors when they opened at 10 am. Finally someone showed up and started my very simple haircut. After my hair was cut, my stylist started on her next appointment and abandoned me to an incompetent assistant. The assistant spent forever drying it so all the hair was laying the wrong way and was hopelessly frizzy. Finally the stylist came back and tried to fix the damage with no luck. I have been thinking how to rate this salon but I think this is the real picture. I walked in last Tuesday for a touch up on my color and they told me they have someone available right away, great ( huge mistake ) The lady who did my hair was nice but didn't listen to the thing that I said. I wanted my whole hair to be light and same color (I walked in already blonde but my roots were dark ) long story short my roots ended up ORANGE and my ends GREY !! She blow dried it and I ended up paying $200 plus the tip. I thought that maybe it will wash out. I came home washed it and it rinsed out to even worse orange ! I called the salon they told me come back and we are going to fix it ( huge mistake no 2 ) So I did and the lady ( so called expert ) did my hair and it turned out YELLOW she even highlighted it which I did't want. I told her it doesn't look good and she told me "it's not that bad someone will like it" I was like but I don't like it !!! Then she put some toner on it (darker blonde almost brown) and I walked out. One hair wash later I was orange again, called salon asked for manager, they said he will call me on Monday. Monday came no call back so I decided to call again the salon to ask for manager and then he said "Oh yeah I didn't have a chance to call" well you better find it because I paid $200+. The only thing we can offer, he said, is to get it back to color that you came in with and I asked what do I get with that he said we will get you your money back, I asked for keratin because I had it before they dyed it and now it obviously is ruined he said " No way that is too expensive we charge it $450 for it" I said but lady at the salon told me it is $300 ??? He then said "Yeah that is with no haircut ??" He even said they never offer the money back, but in the reviews you can see that they did !!! I found him really rude and unapologetic, not professional at all !! So there I was third time this morning, and I was really uncomfortable because I just want my hair back to where it was at this point. The guy who did my hair ( Rami ) dyed my roots back to my natural hair color and I left with the same color that I walked in but my hair has been thru a lot !! He even said that what the other two stylist have done was all wrong and that he would have done everything differently !!! I'll start by saying I rarely review anything...and I don't think I've ever left a bad review anywhere. But after my experience here, I am hoping I can reach someone who may be like me (pre haircut) : looking for a new salon with good ratings, not crazy expensive, good photos, etc. I started off with a multitude of photos of what I wanted. My stylist looked and said "that will look bad on you" (it was a LONG LOB... So I asked him what he suggested instead. He suggested layers in the front. I said OK and assumed he would know best. I indicated what length I wanted and was very clear. Then he chopped off all of my hair. It was all gone. No LOB... it was just ..gone. It was too late to stop him so by the time he asked me if I was ok (I was having a quiet panic attack in the chair) I said it was shorter than what I was expecting. He said "short?! Wait until you see how short the front is going to be!" I felt my stomach drop. I think he could tell, so to make me feel more comfortable, he left the front long. I described it as the "can I see your manager meme" - but a little longer, to my friends as I left the salon. It would almost be funny if I didn't have to live with a horrific haircut for the next year. But here I am. Ps. I didn't complain to them in the moment, it was too late - I could never get my hair back and I just wanted to leave the salon and go cry. So I paid over $70 to look like a one of the little boys from Hansen. PPS, THIS WAS AN "EXPERT". DO NOT GO HERE. I will never step foot in this salon again. read more

Came here for the first time and just really loved the service. I got my haircut from Cheryl and she was fantastic. She immediately sat me down before the wash just to talk about what sort of haircut I wanted. Then, the person (sorry I don't know if I caught your name!) who washed my hair gave a really relaxing scalp massage and was very polite. The haircut itself was exactly what I wanted and Cheryl double-checked the bang length at the end which really made sure I left with what I wanted. Tip: make sure you bring cash to pay tip! Once a week I book 45 minutes w Rami and have been very pleased with th him as a stylist. As a busy professional working in the city, I often struggle w my hair in the morning getting ready for work. So instead , have him do a weekly shampoo and blow dry that's awesome. He also cuts and colors my red locks to perfection. I have awesome curly hair, but looks not so awesome when suiting up for client meeting as it look dry and too casual. Rami selects the shampoo and conditioner, then when drying does not use any product. Without the product build up I can easily go 5 -7 days w not shampooing. I save on so much time in the morning by just running a comb through my hair then out the door I go. This is the first stylist who does a blow out we're my hair does not curl up a day or two later. Rami and his stylist assistant Sara are awesome. I live in Miami but would rather wait a few months for a trip to DC because I only trust Rami with my hair! A few months ago I was ready for a dramatic change and decided to go from mid-back length to just below chin. Rami brought out curls that I didn't know I had and went out of his way to recommend products to take care of them. Rami never makes me wait to get started and is always efficient but never careless. I had the same experience as Jenna. The cuts were good, the color was horrible. I have medium brown hair with caramel/reddish highlights. I asked for the same. They convinced me to do one color all over and it was BLACK which washed me out completely. There were absolutely no highlights. They didn't want to give me my $ back. They wanted to give me a $50 gift certificate. It took a few times and driving from Arlington to Springfield, but I finally got my $ back.
