I very rarely post reviews, but I want to share my experience with Jon Manos. The reason I reached out to Jon was due to a golf event for work in the next week. I have never played golf before (1st time on a course), so any instruction would probably have been an improvement. I called Jon on a Saturday morning and he was able to fit me in for a lesson late that day. After one lesson, I was able to use 4 of my clubs and hit the ball straight about 115 feet (I believe the range markers are feet). Jon took me the next day for another 45-50 minutes, just to ensure I was comfortable. I'm writing this review after my golf outing and I am pleased to say that I did not embarrass myself at the event. In fact, in my first swing (par 3), my ball was the closest to the hole in the scramble. The caddy did not believe it was my first time. He later believed me when I wanted to use the tee on my next shot on the fairway ;). Unfortunately, I didn't practice my putting, so that was the worst part of my game. I can't wait to get back to the driving range and I thank Jon for his patience and great lessons. I will definitely be going back for lessons and I recommend Jon without reservation. read more

I highly recommend Jon Manos for golf lessons. I have played golf since I was in High School. I am a golfer that will par 4 holes a round but still score in the 100's. Clearly, something is inconsistent in my swing. I tried to fix my swing on my own reading countless articles and watching youtube videos. I tried every drill you will find and still couldn't string my game together. Finally, I gave in and booked a lesson. Jon is great. He doesn't try and reinvent the wheel. He takes it back to basics, gives you some complementary tools that focus on grip, keeping your head still, and your arm straight. He analyzed my swing and started me off with a simple drill, one of those drills I read about, and went from there. At first, it fell a little awkward (mainly because my was swing was a mess) but as time went on it started to click. By the end, I was striking an 8 iron consistently straight about 165 yards. He has a ton of knowledge, he explained things that were easy to comprehend, and he even gave me homework and drills that I can work on in my NYC apartment. I intended to take one maybe two lessons, but I will take several with Jon to finally learn the game of golf. read more

Ive been playing golf for roughly 18 years and my handicap over the last few seasons has fluctuated from 12 - 14. After a number of disappointing rounds I decided it was time to get some help. I read Jon's glowing online reviews and sent him an email outlining my situation. Within a matter of hours not only did I get a response, Jon made time to see me the next day. Jon promised two things: He would fix my swing and my lesson would be memorable. He delivered on both. He made a few tweaks and adjustments and I immediately started hitting the ball more solidly and on a predictable line. Jon's approach was simple, upbeat and most importantly, a lot of fun. He identified and corrected my major faults without trying to remake my swing. Jon is a rare find. He's approachable, and has an easy-going nature that makes all new clients feel welcome and comfortable. Once you get down to business, he's as knowledgeable in all aspects of the game that one could be. I first arrived with weak contact and a scooping release in my swing. He's given me alignment sticks, swing aids, and special tips to practice with until our future sessions. A great communicator, he's easy to reach and book lessons at a minutes notice. However, what's most valuable is his ability to break the game down into terms and metaphors that even the newest of players can understand. I've enjoyed my experience working with Jon, regardless of results, which have come as a pleasant byproduct of quality instruction. I have never left reviews before and I am stating that because I want you to know that what I am saying here is completely honest! I was about to quit the game for good. I have taken many lessons throughout my seven years of playing golf and to be quite honest some helped a tiny bit but most actually hurt my game. I had become so disgruntled that I was about to sell all of my golf stuff on eBay. I took one lesson from John and regained hope. Again, I'm just saying this to be honest and fair (because I know I'm pouring it on!) but he is the best instructor I have ever seen! He help me to understand exactly what I was doing wrong and how to correct it and was extremely patient, friendly and kind throughout the entire process. I've been playing golf for over 30 years, have belonged to several private country clubs and of course have taken lessons from many club pros, golf schools and others. Jon has been giving me lessons for over 10 years and his advice is always practical, not complicated and repeatable. Jon doesn't look to remake your swing from scratch but he is aware of golf basics/fundamentals and has many ways to communicate good advice, skills and drills. I've never had a lesson with Jon where my swing was not better by the time I was done. I would recommend him to any golfer at any skill level, he will help. I've seen him work with young people and they love him. I'm a low handicap player and I've found Jon to be a better instructor than virtually all the fancy pros I've worked with at private clubs. I started playing golf two years ago. I initially took lessons at the large golf stores learning nothing and wasting money. My friends recommended Jon and I've been with him ever since. Jon is a true PGA professional. He has taken the time to instruct me on grass, on the range and even on a golf course. Jon is patient and is dedicated to helping me become a better golfer. My lessons have involved all aspects of the game. Long game, short game and putting. Most importantly he dedicates a lot of effort to the swing and muscle memory. My wife wanted to learn how to play golf. Off to the range we went. She hit ground balls , shanks and chunks. We actually tried playing a beginners / learning course with more of the same with a few decent hits. She was still determined to play and learn. So on April 2018 I looked for a PGA Professional for some lessons. After some research in the area, Jon's name came up numerous times. We decided to give him a try. He is exceptional at teaching the basics with his drills and training aids. He made accommodations to our schedule and kept it all fun for her. After seeing Jon's stellar reviews and my last scorecard on the course, I decided it was time to get a lesson. Like many I have been playing golf off-and-on for about 15 years, and have never taken a lesson before. I reached out to Jon and he went out of his way to accommodate my schedule on such a short notice. He watched me slice my first three shots, and after a couple of drills.......Jon worked a miracle. Jon Manos is a PGA Golf Professional who works out of the Closter Driving Range. He works well with all ages of students from adults to children. He uses his wonderful sense of humor to make the his students feel at ease and the results speak for themselves. Jon offers a free 1/2 hour lesson to new students so that they can see for themselves how good he is at what he does. Jon Manos is an excellent instructor. He doesn't use a cookie cutter approach . He works with what you have , he brings s great sense of humor to the game. His teaching technique is relaxing and breaks it down to simple terms. He is patient and truly cares for his students. I have been going to Jon for around 10 years , whenever my swing goes south . I have never really played golf before, other then swinging the club incorrectly at the driving range. However I was eager to learn about the fundamentals of the game. I found Jon online near my local driving range. Jon fully understood my situation and started me from the ground up. We worked on my swing together while giving me advice to improve. I was no longer enjoying the game as my handicap went from 10 to 16, I needed help. Jon was highly recommended (appropriately so), and I have enjoyed several sessions with Jon and I will work with him on regular basis. Jon was quickly able to pinpoint my significant swing flaws ( hands, wrist, and club position ), which enabled me to improve my ball striking by the end of our first session! I have taken a number of lessons from Jon and I couldnt be more pleased. I have been playing for a number of years and taken lessons from a few different pros who for the most part were quite similar. They evaluate your swing and make suggestions, which is fine. Jon asks questions, evaluates your approach, your swing and your practice schedule. He doesnt try to completely change your game, he builds on your strengths and eliminates your flaws. Jon is a great teacher. At 57, I've been through many instructors who have tried to rebuild my game, but none have taken the time to start very simply and explain not just the mechanics of the swing, but why errors happen. I normally don't look forward to hitting buckets of balls, while someone is telling you what you are doing wrong, but Jon sensed my frustrations, and worked with me using a sense of humor and anecdotes to reinforce the lessons. Ive been to many, and i mean many golf instructors. Instructors from golf ranges, private golf teachers, "prestigious Country Club pros, destination golf schools, "top 10 instructors in the country" for as much as $220 an hour etc. too many to count and much money wasted on instructors promising results. Jon is my last instructor. He is professional, knowledgeable, easy to understand and helpful. I have recommended friends who are now taking lessons with him as well. Best teacher in Bergen county - everything from teaching style to rates, Jon is the best at it! Like most weekend golfers I struggled with a slice off the tee and was inconstant with my irons. Jon quickly noted my issues and corrected them - ball striking improved greatly and the slice was GONE. I recommend to anyone out in need of help.
