Most of the staff is very caring and show how much love they have for what they do!! The owner is very nice and knows his stuff but one outstanding person here is Mara!! She is exceptional and makes you feel like family! Always has a smiling face and genuinely cares for the success of every kid there! My daughter loves all the staff but in particular loves taking private silk classes with Coach Joel Castro!! He is hands down amazing! At such a young age he shows a very high level of professionalism and is attentive every second of his lesson! He never takes his eyes off the student and provides great constant feedback but most importantly helps my daughter believe in herself and pushes her to grow with each class!! There were maybe 20 people in the audience with us and everyone had a chance to participate in the show. Now, I'm kind of a skeptic. I was trying to pay attention to all the different spots on the stage. When he'd tell us to look at the cards, I'd look at his hands or the table, but he wasn't giving anything away. After seeing Sebastian, I have to believe that magic is real. I swear things just disappeared right in front of my eyes. It was an incredible show. This is truly one of the best possible date nights in San Diego. This show was incredible and Sebastian is so talented. I'm in awe!

Our evening started at the small wine bar next door. It is a cute bar with friendly owners. There, we got a couple glasses of wine to start off the night, when the magician came in to start a few tricks at our table. He made his way around to all of the couples in the bar. We then brought our wine into the small theater. it looked like there was room for about 30 people, but our show had only 8 people. We filled the front row. The show was very crowd interactive, and I found myself on stage immediately. I realized that the magician had been interviewing people in the bar in order to be able to talk about them in the show. With an audience of 8, we were definitely able to participate quite a bit. It was mostly card and slight of hand. I appreciate how close up everything was, and thought he did a really good job. All in all, it was a fun show, and an interesting way to spend an evening. Perhaps I'll return after a while and enjoy the show again sometime. At $32, you can't beat the price. It made for a fun date night.

I have seen shows like Who's Line is it Anyways? but never really had an opportunity to see improv (until now). On Sundays, this place can be closed but because students were performing, I came to see a 9pm show. Parking in the area is a disaster, seems San Diego wants to charge for parking everywhere. I did find a spot on the street which doesn't charge on Sundays. Friend did a good job with improv and the starting theme was laundry which moved on to disappearing socks, stealing socks, etc. I enjoyed the half hour improv. They also offer a free class if you were interested in improv classes and all the staff here very friendly and warm. Overall, a fun experience, got me out of my comfort zone and now I can say I have seen improv live. Id come back here again to see another show.

She should have instructed us more, though: Being specific about how to make our scenes better. Mostly, we did scene after scene without much specific feedback, so I'm not sure I progressed. The theatre is small and tucked away near a British pub. Parking is rough on the busy streets but we found a spot in the residential area nearby. We arrived close to the start of the show, so there was not a long wait to check in. The process was quick and they sell reasonably priced popcorn and drinks in the entryway. They do open seating in the very small, intimate theater. The show started promptly and the energy was so fun. The host was high energy and both teams gave it their all. Essentially, the two teams compete against each other with the voting being done by audience cheers. I'm glad to say that the team I was rooting for won! Throughout the show, they would often invite audience participation but they do not force it on anyone, and it is all very good natured. Time flew by and there was a 15 min intermission in the middle. The bathroom is outside the theater and there were staff member standing by to direct lost patrons. At the end of the show, the cast members stood by the exit to chat, and accept congratulations and high-fives as we left. I had a great first live comedy experience at the National Comedy Theatre, and I would love to attend more of their shows in the future!

The GSDC Orchestra is a great community group. Concerts are relatively inexpensive and they play a…read morewide variety of music. It is a full symphony orchestra, and is conducted by Dr. Angela Yeung. There are between 5-8 concerts per year, usually in the fall and spring, and the group also plays for various music festivals around town. In March, the orchestra hosts a concerto competition for students through the Music Teachers Association of California (MTAC) and the winners perform their concerto with the full orchestra. This group is great for families with young kids as an introduction to classical music, the concerts are always fun and Dr. Yeung normally invites people up onto the stage to sit with the orchestra and see what it is like first hand.

The fun has been key in my continued attendance of her classes for over two years, which is a record for me in my adult life for any fitness program. (She makes cardio fun :) I didn't really have any dance experience prior to coming & she makes samba approachable in her Monday Beginner class. There are many people who consistently go to her classes & they are a lovely group! If you're thinking about trying something new, then come & join the fun! I love that my brain still thinks I can whip out fouettes, when in reality, I'm far from even 50% as flexible as I once was. But finding the right studio is about getting to have fun and dance. I attended a Jazz Funk class at Play Studio and it was so fun! I appreciated that the class was a challenge. This studio is suited for people with dance experience. While there are likely people here training to dance professionally, there are also people who are just here for fun. But, I like that the classes are at a level that create a challenge and keep your brain moving as you move through the choreo. I hate a boring class and this wasn't the least bit boring at all. The class moved quickly! The vibe was good and it feels like there's a nice community here. I love the variety of options they have and I'm excited to try a pom class next. The studio is located on the second floor of the building. Parking in the area is tough. Although the studio has a parking lot, there are very few spots. There are paid spots across the street, but it's tough to find a free spot, so leave yourself some time.
