It actually feels like Brooklyn. very Bushwick, very laid-back but still a little chaotic in the best way. It can get pretty packed, so don't expect a ton of space, but honestly that doesn't take away from the experience. It's always a good time, and the drinks never miss. If you're looking for a unique but low-pressure spot for a casual date or just somewhere to talk shit with a friend..this is a solid pick. They've got board games, but the real highlight for me? In my humble opinion, the talent that comes out to perform at this venue are some of the bet musicians in all of New York. The crowd is welcoming, supportive and really open-minded. From poetry and comedy to punk music, rap, indie, rock and country.. the range of artistry here has no bounds. The theme last night was to dress as your favorite musician and perform their covers. I went as Post Malone and really enjoyed the crowds reaction to my set. Colleen, one of the hosts is always so friendly and welcoming. She even performs herself! Mike, the sound guy extraordinaire, works wonders from behind the sound booth. He's always adjusting levels on the fly and helping each performer sound their very best. And can you believe it... this open mic is free! Just be sure to bring some cash to drop in their magical tip bucket, which helps all wishes come true from the tipper.

A white woman with blonde hair answered the door and I explained this to her in great detail. She spitefully suggested I go to the police and file my complaint with them, when I know the 104th precinct in Ridgewood is going to do fuq all with the report and protect MTAs interest by default, instead of holding the worker who was in the wrong accountable. In what world does it make sense to suggest following up an MTA complaint with the NYPD? I said to the rude woman, the police won't help with my complaint. She then, arrogantly brushed me off and refused to help me. After asking why she wouldn't help me, her ridiculous reasoning for refusing to help was because she's more concerned about the "privacy" of others which is complete BS. Instead of doing the right thing and assisting someone trying to hold a complacent MTA worker accountable and disciplined for their misconduct, she denied me help because she had some sort of disdain and prejudice towards me, when I was nothing short of respectful in asking for a minute of camera footage.. There is no expectation of privacy in public especially for MTA workers who work for THE PUBLIC and are IN PUBLIC. I only needed a minute of footage to follow up with my MTA complaint and I'm gone, but the woman simply brushed me off. If the staff at Milo's Yard are this ignorant about privacy laws and quick to brush off a good samaritan who is doing the right thing, I can only imagine how they treat the patrons who put money into their establishment, which I'm willing to bet they treat them the same way. Regardless, this is the typical behavior I'd expect from a run down hipster bar currently gentrifying the once beautiful neighborhood of Ridgewood. Like a living room extension but with adult company. Of course, the bar is the most prominent thing in the room and it's a great place to chill as a solo patron. Groups can congregate in the lounge-y areas but the feel is remarkably different depending on where one choses to hang. On a beverage front, there is no shortage of quality drinks to be had. The cocktails are well made and not expensive; the bartenders do a good job of making sure each drink carries a certain kind of potency before leaving the bar. The happy hours are lovely as well, combined with a good deals ($5 shot + beer special, $5 cocktails, etc.) and even better hours (2-8pm!). Lastly, I appreciate a good name.
