Five years ago I started a journey towards becoming a pilot. That journey began at First Landings…read moreand I could not be more thankful. The school is run by a team of professionals that take your flight training as far as you want to go with a pace that matches your lifestyle. The rates for training beat out the competitors while delivering a product that is more personal and productive. The training area is right next to First Landing's home airport (X04) and this is a huge advantage. While training you do not have to waste money and time getting to where you need to practice. The airport is also between several other airports making it an ideal training environment. I pursued my Instrument, Commercial, Flight Instructor, Instrument Flight Instructor, and sport plane Instructor licenses from First Landings. While doing so I was able to compare my experiences with students at other schools. What I found was that not only did I save money, but my training was more productive. Following this I taught for First Landings for several years as a Flight Instructor. The experiences I have gained there have been invaluable in making me the pilot I am today. Thanks to these experiences at First Landings my peers and I are all working for the airlines living the dreams we set out for. Prior to takeoff, he detailed what he was checking & why, I felt my father was in good hands w him when they jumped into a the Diamond Eclipse plane.The training is 45 minutes, they have comfortable leather chairs, dvd player,kitchen & other amenities (blazing Wifi) if your waiting for flight to land. I was assured by The female at the desk that this would be no problem. I arrived on time each day and prepared for flight training. I received 2.9 hours of training and then I was informed they had pre-booked charters and would not be able to accommodate me the rest of those hours. I spoke with the lady at the front desk about this situation and we agreed that I would be billed only for the hours received. I received a partial refund and then within two hours the refund was taken back out of my account and I received a text message from the company that stated the owner didn't feel comfortable giving me a partial refund. This company was fully aware of my situation and did not honor their word. This company took my money under false pretenses, and payment was made for services NOT RENDERED!!!! I immediately called my credit card company and explain the situation and started a dispute. Anyone looking to get there sea plane ratings I would advise from my experience do not use this company. They are not a reputable company and they lack honesty and integrity. Next day I went to Jack Brown's seaplane base in winter haven Florida I was amazed and I found the staff was amazing and most of all had integrity. After two hours of flight time the Cfi was ready to sign me off, but we could not get a DPE that day and I was flying out the next morning. I found Jack Brown's Sea Plane base to be everything that you could ever ask for in a company for Sea Plane operation. I will be going back to Jack Brown's to fly again in the future highly recommend Jack Brown.

I was able to easily maintain my college courses at Riddle while flying with Epic, so flexibility is possible. From dispatch and maintenance staff to Instructors and Team Leaders, every Epic employee exceeded my expectations in terms of a family friendly learning environment. The C-172S aircraft were all in excellent condition, equipped with G1000. The Epic ramp area is well maintained along with KEVB in its entirety, and you simply can't beat its beautiful location in terms of its Class D airspace. However, as a student veteran, I would have liked to see Epic Flight Academy accept VA benefits to allow student veterans to gain assistance in finishing the remaining flight ratings at Epic, but they do not at the moment. Overall, I would highly recommend Epic Flight Academy for obtaining your Private Pilot Certificate, or any other certificate or rating you wish to pursue.

Dont get me started on the housing department either. The same people that own epic own the apartments they use for student housing, one half is non students and the other half are students. The non students (for a two bedroom apartment NOT beachside and NOT in a good spot) pay 1600$ a month, so why is it that the students pay 3200$ a month for the exact same apartment split 4 ways. They cram 4 people in a 2 bedroom apartment and charge the students double. It doesn't take a genius to notice that this is a cash grab/scam. Fuck this place and fuck getting scammed. All the good reviews are for the flight school, for the pilots, anyone can fly a plane but how many people can fix them? Take care of your students and stop scamming them.

I was in Orlando back in October and wanted to rent a small craft to get down to Miami and explore Cedar Key. John, the owner of the business made this super seamless and easy. We talked on the phone, he reassured me of the maintenance of the planes and was very responsive. They are cool with you taking the planes out overnight. The checkout process is relatively easy. They have older planes with older radios/avionics as well as newer ones to choose from. I chose one of the older ones and it performed well for the few hours I put on it. Highly recommended!

Our Captain Shawn and Guide Ran were all about safety and making sure we were well informed. The host checked us in about 1215 and we boarded along with 2 other couples. Lake Dora is the second smallest of 6 lakes in Mt Dora named after being one of the highest points in Florida at just less than 190 feet above sea level. Very interesting commentary and history. The lake is expansive but the best part was a mile long absolutely beautiful canal at times resembling the Amazon. We saw foliage, alligators, otters and birds along the way. Enjoy!
