What a bad decision I made to choose this law firm. I was told that the maximum charges would be 5500 dollars for my case with my son. When the case was done I had paid almost 15000 dollars and my counsel was a joke of a disappointment when we went to the mediation. I lost the case anyway. Seth - who repeated told me he is an expert and specialist in this field - told me that he would represent me and estimated my legal costs would be $2400-$3000 dollars. He told me that the mother would need to get her own lawyer and her costs would be $700-$1000. At this point I explained that the mother and I are working very closely and amicably in this. I asked if there was any other approach to making sure our situation was properly recorded with the state of Colorado. Seth said no. There was no other approach. Today - 2 days later - I went on line and it took me 30 minutes of time to find out that the state has a ready-made form to clarify exactly the situation that we have. We just need to file an Acknowledgement of Paternity. It's already drawn up and approved by the state. It will take us 5 minutes. We will file it for FREE! Seth wanted to charge me 8-10 hours of billable time at $290/hr to create a form that the state has already provides to everyone! I will be investigating whether this attempt to mislead us and take thousands of dollars for a free-service from the state constitutes a severe ethical transgression. In the meantime, I would steer clear of him. He might do OK work, but if he's willing to overcharge us so dramatically, how could you ever feel confident that he's not overcharging you.

He has been our rock in our extremely difficult case and was even recognized by Colorado Court of Appeals for his careful and appropriate legal approach to our Habeus Corpus, which Adams County unlawfully denied and then tried to assess us legal fees. DO NOT hire Chris McLane. I was lead to believe that I would have the support and my well being would be protected as well as my decisions would be heard. After my case was demolished and McLane made his own executive decisions, unlawfully and against my wishes, he then quit in the later part of the evening the same day as our first trial in an ongoing case. He then sent me a bill and reported it to the courts a month before its first due date. This man is just trying to make money and is a very good actor, but not a good lawyer. He said all of his clients were losing their minds. RIghtfully so, he offers no real service and is a big waste of time, and heart. Protect your belief in humanity.
