Jonnycake Center of Westerly absolutely lived up to the hype. The multi room refurbished warehouse is filled to the brim with new and lightly used clothing and household items (for other thrifters it reminded me of Pop and Bernat Mill Antiques) each room was organized, clearly labeled, and well lit. I also like that they had a donation ticket kiosk at checkout , where you could pick a tag and that food pantry item would be purchased for a Rhode Islander in need. The employees I interacted with were pleasant and efficient. The prices were on par with other competitors. They also have an off street parking lot directly across the street from the warehouse. This business fills up quickly (they have a waiting line outside when they hit capacity) with patron, so my best tip would be to arrive early, so you have ample time to browse all of the different sections of the warehouse. read more

Nice large parking lot but there is as limit of how many people they will let into the store so oftentimes you will have to wait for people to leave before you can go on. Wait isn't king though. Didn't like that they overcrowded the pictures and frames so much that it was very hard to see what was there. On the plus side, the furniture was in good condition and priced to sell at very low prices. read more

Johnnycakes is a treasure hunters dream! There are several rooms or sections that house specific items-furniture, linens including towels, tablecloths, curtains and draperies, rugs, blankets and sheets. The organizer and cleanliness is remarkable., One section specializes in small household appliances, computers and accessories, garden ware, vacuums and furniture. There is a children's room with clothing, equipment and toys and a stretch of wall exhibiting school and office supplies, plastics for serving and storage. You can fill your basket with ribbon, thread and notions or sift through the glassware and giftware. A specialty nook as you enter displays a grouping of designer and higher priced items and then the main area is a collection of shoes, clothing, handbags large furniture and baskets. A not-to-be-missed enclave of excitement! The staff is top-notch, courteous, accommodating, friendly and welcoming. The facility is tucked away and offers no close Handicap parking but the inconvenience outweighs the rewards. Enjoy yourself. read more

The jonnycake used to have good pricing but their prices have increased over the last 6 months so much that I do not shop there as much as I used to. They The turnover of items seems very slow as well, I'm sure it has something to do with the pricing! I continue to donate. read more

Locally run thrift for a good cause with a wide variety of offerings. Staff is kind, parking is good and you can either hone in on the section you want to shop or spend lots of time looking at the wide variety of items (clothes for all ages, household goods, toys, books...). Awesome place to wander and find treasures beyond measure! The Thrift Store brings the community together (in my opinion!) --- friendly folks, organized, amazingly fair pricing, "specials" of the day... the book selections are wonderful, organized and priced to read and read and read! AND... if you are lucky, there are days when books are 10/$1.00! For Christmas a few years ago I gathered books from Jonnycake and packaged in Christmas photo boxes for friends/family, according to their reading pleasures. I included several home-made bookmarks and a reading light and batteries. Every. single. (and married or otherwise).person.was.delighted. Jonnycake has just about everything you could name. Shoes, furniture, clothes, jewelry, books, music, housewares, games, etc. I was throwing a big 50th birthday party for my daughter, and I found 2 big glass punch bowls with ladles that we'd hoped for. Jonnycake is a great thrift shop to find really interesting items. The store is fairly large, clean, and very well organized. The staff is friendly and helpful. You will need to have your temperature taken before entering and hand sanitizer is located throughout the store. Masks are required during the pandemic. They have a huge selection of all kinds of very well organized books. You can also find clean, previously owned furniture such as couches, love seats, dining tables, chairs, hutches, and more. There are lots of fun toys for kids. There is a good selection of clothing and shoes for just about everyone. The shoes I looked at were very clean and some looked new. Most were priced at only $2.00. They also have a great selection of dishes and all kinds of kitchen items. For anyone who loves yarn, crafting, and scrap booking this is the place to go because there is a huge selection. They price their items fairly low so they can move things out the door and make room for more. I highly recommend you take a trip over to Jonnycake Center soon. read more

This is hit or miss. I bought three items today, and two of them are designer labels. This thrift store is a nice place to browse, and you always find a treasure here. Best of all, the total amount of my purchases was a whopping $3. Shopping was very safe here. A gentleman takes the temperature of customers upon entry to the store, and each shopping cart is sanitized. read more

It was our first time at the Center. There appeared to be a pandemic "sickness gauge"outside the door, that we did not understand. The store was very large and held an all-encompassing variety of merchandise. Reasonably priced for sure! I went to the counter with 5 items and the cashier was less than thrilled that I was there. Barely a "Hi". No smile, no small talk, nothing. She rang up my purchase, asked me to sign the slip, handed me my receipt and that was it. Not even a thank you. This is an incredible thrift store, they have so much inventory that they will always have what you're looking for. The prices are reasonably low and you can find some great deals. They have more furniture than many of the other thrift stores I've been to and also have a section for higher end items at lower prices. I love this place. They have great housewares, shoes, purses, and clothing items, most for $1. The other day I got 50 cents off each item if I said something nice to the cashier about Jonnycake. The greatly-discounted items are of good quality, and the individually-priced items are definitely worth checking out. I have been shopping at johnnycakes for 8 years now and over the past year I have seen many negative changes. First the person who does the pricing must think she is working at Neiman Marcus. With the economy being what it pricing is outrageous, ridiculous, and unnecessary. These items are donated, they should be priced reasonably. Love the Johnnycake Center! The staff are always friendly and helpful. (even giving me directions to other thrift/consignment shops in the area.) Large selection of everything you could imagine, in a huge, well lit, organized space. (I liked it better when it was less organized... you people need to slack off a little.) I'm almost reluctant to write this review for the Jonnycake Center because I don't want this secret to be let out. I love thrift stores and Jonnycake is the best I have seen. It is huge. They have tons of stuff. It is well organized, neat and the staff are really nice. And the best part is they have daily sales, which they post every morning on their Facebook page. The day I went, it was 1/2 off all picture frames, $1 for every piece of luggage, 1/2 off toys, and 25 cents for every article of clothing. I walked out that day with 4 picture frames in near mint condition ranging in price from 12 cents to $2.50 after the discount; a vintage 1950's cowhide leather suitcase which was marked at $8.50 and sold at other thrift stores for $25 for $1; and 4 set of blue/green placements with no stains for $2. And the best part is, after a shopping trip at Jonnycake, you can go to The Malted Barley down the street for craft beer and pretzels! read more

While there are many good deals to be had, the store is very disorganized and haphazard and every worker I talked to including the manager was over the top rude and they have donated items all over the store that are not for sale. I'm sure whoever donated them would be happy to know their items are being used for the stores personal use. read more

My first visit to the thrift shop must have been when the saleswoman was having a bad day. I am removing the review I wrote based on that not-so-nice experience. I have been back many time in recent months, and now have a completely different view of the Jonnycake Thrift Shop, as well as the Center as a whole. The place is almost always brimming with cheerful staff, in all departments, helpful and courteous. Once in a great while someone is at the cash register who seems a tad impatient or curt, but that is the exception. I have purchased many needed items at practically "stealing" prices. One time I happened to go on a day they had 75% off EVERYTHING IN THE STORE! There is a huge wealth and variety of stuff in the large store, and the turnover of inventory is brisk, as so many people like to shop there. Poke around and look twice--there's so much to see you may discover a treasure on the second glance. Note: It can get pretty hot in July, so go early in the day. read more
