Great marina and people. This was not a planned stop, we just got lucky. After a few days waiting…read moreon weather to calm down we had witnessed the meticulous handling of boats being hauled in and out, admiring the attention to detail given to each one. We had planned to haul out in a few months for blister repair and bottom paint, after observing we decided we found our place. Excellent work, reasonably priced, and impeccable communication. Great pool and bath house, laundry, floating docks, dog park across the street, with instacart and walmart delivery options. Great short ride to Yorktown via dinghy to enjoy the free hop on and off trolly tour. Can't say enough great things about this place we will defiently return.

They have just opened the new bath house, laundry room and pool. There are a couple of beautiful flower gardens, not to mention the marina is nestled in a placid area surrounded by large trees. The entire marina is pristinely manicured. They have a full working service yard and haul out. The ship store is stocked with a wide variety of boater's needs. We are on the great loop and needed a repair to our bow thruster, the marina was happy to work us in even though they were booked through July! So much to do close by, Uber does pick up from here and food can be delivered. If you get the chance this is a great place to stay.

Avoid this place at all cost. They will rip you off. I took my boat in to have the oil pan on the…read moreengine replaced and to have the engine rebuilt. I was quoted $2800 for that service. I was given another quote for $1400 where he would replace the oil pan and go over the engine, do a compression check ect.; if anything needed replaced he would let me know. I decided to go with the second option since he said my engine looked great and it didn't need that much work. He ended up only replacing the oil pan, thermostat, thermostat housing, and spark plugs on the engine. He also replaced the impeller and a seal on the outdrive. The bill came out to $2650, way more than I was quoted for that work. For that cost I would have had the engine rebuilt. I could have bought a remanufactured long block for $1500. Anyway, on top of all that they do lousy maintenance. The engine is leaking oil around the harmonic balancer and oil pan gasket. There is also a grinding noise coming from the outdrive that wasn't there before I took it to them. They left grinder marks where they sanded down into the metal when removing the old paint on the outdrive. I decided to take it back to have them fix the things they caused. That's where things got even worse; first the mechanic said it wasn't leaking oil. After I pointed it out to him he came up with some excuse saying the new seals need to break in that's why they are leaking. This is complete BS, you don't need to break in an oil pan seal. He told me the grinding noise sounded like the gimbal which should be covered and I would have my boat back the following day. He would need it 3 days at the most. A week goes by and I haven't heard from them so I decided to call and check on it. I was told they were putting the outdrive back together and they couldn't find anything wrong with it. Two days later I get a call and was told my boat was ready to be picked up. I didn't have a chance to pick it up that day and the mechanic called me the following day. He told me my boat was ready again and the bill was about $400. I asked why I was charged for a few reasons. First, he said it was the gimbal and that would be covered. Second, they caused the damage because it wasn't doing it before I took it in to them to be worked on. Third, if they couldn't find anything wrong with it why was I being billed? He told me there was something wrong with it, the shifting rod was bent and he had to replace it. I never got a call to request authorization in order for them to do extra work; they took it upon themselves to do it anyway and just charged me. If I was paying for maintenance I would have taken it to a better shop that does quality work.

We searched online for a boat rental company for the Hot Springs Area and Great White Rentals was…read morethe first site to come up. We read the reviews and assumed since they were all so good and their website looked good they were a legit company. We called and talked to a nice lady on the phone a week prior to us coming to visit for a week long vacation with 6 of our grandkids. Let her know we had a pontoon and would like to rent a nice boat to spend 2-3 days on the lake tubing, skiing, and riding around while we were here. I asked about the two nicer boats on the website and she said they had some really clean boats and she could get us 8 in one no problem. So reserved the premium one over the phone. When we arrived the next week they called the day before and requested to be paid the of the amount in cash. I thought this was strange for a company, but agreed and went to back to get cash for the next morning. (First red flag) When they arrived with the boat it was a 22 year old tri-toon, very weathered, and let's just say, well used. (Second red flag) Seats ripped, awning held together with bungee cords and straps, rear ladder was bungee strapped up, horn was broken, so we have a whistle, interior lights broken lenses, radio didn't work, the anchor was an 8 pound mushroom anchor you would use for a johnboat, would certainly not hold a 24' pontoon. The life vest they provided were just as old as the boat. We only had 4 we could use old of the 10 they sent. There's no tow bar to pull from, so the drivers says yeah you will have to tie onto one of the toons, really??? I expressed my frustration with the delivery driver, which went no where, I called the office and talked to a lady who said she had only been answering phones for a few months and had never actually seen the boats. (Third red flag). I asked at this point was this a company or was this just individuals renting out their boats and cabins? She answered just individuals, they don't have an actual office. She advised she would get with the owner of the boat to see if they can do anything but they didn't have any other boats available. By now I'm frustrated but I have 6 grandkids ages 13-8 looking at me excited to go boating and waiting to get on the boat. They could care less what it looks like or if it's going to leave us stranded, they just want to go. lol I go ahead and take the boat and make the best of what we have throughout the day. When they pick up the boat I was expecting a little humility and at least an half ass excuse, but all I get was "sorry this wasn't what you expected, thank for re ring with us though". We check on other rentals in the area the next morning and found that they actually have newer boats and are quite a bit less expensive. I also went back and reviewed their website to see if I missed anything and over reacted. What I found was a couple of the reviews were from the delivery guys family, the delivery driver is actually in the pictures. So I wonder if the 23 reviews are actually real at this point. Moral of the story, don't stop doing research when you find a good website or good reviews. Keep checking around, we paid 730 dollars for a 22 year old worn out boat and motor for 8 hours and could have gotten a 2 year old boat with a bigger motor, for 520 dollars at 2 other rental places right down the road. If you're renting your own equipment that's great, just be upfront about it !
