When it did arrive and was picked up, it was still folded up in the a plastic bag, like a comforter would come in. That's not exactly the way a wedding dress should be presented. It wasn't hanging or steamed, nothing. I took it to a lady who knows what she is doing on the square in Hickory. She handled getting it steamed and fitted. Regardless of the price of the dress, this was not cheap, there should be a level of service provided. This place showed none. Please beware.

We were greeted and was asked what we wanted and we would get a sales person to help us with picking out dresses. Quite similar to Yes To The Dress television show. The store was busy with young ladies looking for prom dresses. Some dresses on racks were readily available and others had to be ordered. Our sales lady was very attentive to our needs. After dresses were picked out, she escorted us to a fitting room and helped take dresses off the hanger and help zip up the dresses. The dresses were pretty , expensive in my opinion. The ones we tried on were $400 to $600 and of course needed some alterations if we wanted them shortened. Alterations were done elsewhere. I did not like most of the dresses shown for myself as they were very matronly looking with heavy beaded material. When customers bought a dress, an announcement was made : "she said yes to the dress" and staff and customers clapped. Just my daughter ended buying a lovely dress. My granddaughter and I would have to look elsewhere to buy a fancy dress. I personally prefer high end department store dresses that carry styles that I prefer.

If information was missing, they quickly let us know so that we could correct it. When the suits arrived, all but 1 fit well. Best Bride was, and so even though we didn't have an appointment, we drove over to see if they could accommodate us. From the moment we walked in, the difference was like night and day. We were warmly greeted and when we explained what happened, they told us they'd do whatever they could to take care of us. Even though they were busy with some other appointments, they made us feel special and welcome. It was such a pleasant experience from beginning to end, and I found quite a few dresses that I am now considering. The owners are incredibly friendly and will give you exactly the kind of experience that you would hope to have. High, high marks. We plan to visit them again as my date gets closer to see what other stock might rotate in, but they do have a large selection in a range of sizes, and can order anything you might like on their site that isn't out.

We went looking for a dress for my sister, who is the perfect storm of "OMG, what am I going to do?" She had no idea what silhouettes looked good on her, has a unique body type, wanted a non-traditionally colored gown and travels to work (which means she has a tricky schedule). My coworker is also planning her wedding and recommended Simpson's, she said it was worth the drive. So, being the antisocial millennial that I am, I sent them a Facebook message and got a reply right away that there would be blue dresses available to try on and was able to schedule our appointment through Facebook. They were super helpful since I didn't know anything (first time having MOH duties) When we got to the shop and checked in, we were introduced to Hope who was AMAZING. She took us to the samples and showed us how to read the tags and let us loose. We pulled maybe 8 dresses before my sister stopped us. Hope took my sister to the dressing room and we hung out in a small trying on area. I was really glad that my sister had a small group as there was not a lot of seating. This is the only fault I could find. Hope managed to figure out exactly what my sister was looking for and we got closer and closer to The One with every dress. The One, ended up being the 4th dress she tried on and even though it didn't come in the color she had been looking for, the staff was awesome in helping her find a way to customize it to her liking. I think at one point, three staff members were helping us look through color swatches for just the right shade! We were so pleased at the encellent service we received and I could not be happier. I can't wait until we go back in September when the dress comes in! I wanna see it again!

BEWARE! My sister bought her wedding dress in February and went to get fitted 8 weeks before the…read morewedding. She wasn't able to have the fitting because they didn't order the dress as expected. They assumed she wanted the floor model that was riped, torn, and had makeup on it! She couldn't get fitted because they didn't clean or repair it and it might shrink in the cleaning process. They sold her the floor mode for FULL price (around $1100!) and said it was her fault because she didn't tel them she wanted to order one. My mother and her future mother in law both were with her when she checked out when they claimed that she said she wanted the floor model. Now they are refusing to refund her or even give her a discount and say they sell worn used floor models for full price all the time!! I wonder how many people paid full price and got a floor model and didn't know! No where on her receipt does it say floor model or order! I am so disappointed in he Formal Showcase. I bought my dress from there 12 years ago and feel horrible that I sent her there.

I went up front to place the order and was told I would need to be measured first. After she measured me, she told me that the size I needed was 2 sizes up. I told her that I JUST tried on a smaller size dress and that it fit perfectly. She told me that it is better to order up because you can take in dresses but you can't let them out if they're too small, which is totally understandable. I told her that the size I tried fit fine and that since I was losing weight I should be just fine. She continued repeating that statement and insisting that I go 2 sizes up. After arguing back and forth I finally just got 1 size up and left the store. Today, I picked up my dress, and it is HUGE. There is no part of the dress that doesn't need to be taken in. If I had ordered 2 sizes up as she insisted, the dress would've been a total loss. Now I'll be spending even MORE money on alterations that would have been avoided had my voice mattered during my purchase. All my previous experiences with The Formal Showcase have been wonderful, but this is just a warning to anyone shopping for dresses in the future.

However, the time line in which I was told the dress would take to arrive, and the poor communication process throughout, was less than satisfactory! The dress that was paid for in full on June 28th, 2023 and supposedly ordered by the owner that very day. Six weeks later I returned to get my refund (which they were more than willing to give) because there was still no date for the dresses arrival and wait and see is not a game I was willing to play!
