My wife stopped by as we have purchased suits and shirts from Jos. A Bank and have always had a good experience. She called me to meet her there, since there was a sale going on, so I quickly drove to the store. While browsing, Mr. Wendell asked what I was looking for (a sport coat), and he took me to a nice selection of jackets, and pulled a couple down for me to try on. I found one I liked and he asked me what else was I looking for.......we ended up buying the jacket, 2 shirts, 2 pair of jeans and a pair of shoes. Wendell is a true professional, very pleasant and a great employee in asking "what else can I help you with", or " is there anything else that you are looking for". Good service but Today i went in to pick it up after alterations and no one wanted to wait on me. Finally got served and tried on the suit and it fit great. They packaged it up and told me there is $3 charge for the suit bag. Maybe on a cheap item but on a $500 suit? What a joke. read more

Not so much in my book. I had a very different experience at this Jos A Bank at River Oaks Shopping Center compared with my previous visit to Jos A Bank in Sugarland. I guess it was the final day of Black Friday sale. Salespeople we're tired. My reason being there was to try a pair of dress sneakers. Online store told me to come here. That brand Cole Hann offers lightweight shoes with Oxford style. But because there was no arch support and that was only pair that store offers, I chose to wait until they offer a half size bigger. So, I can insert extra cushion in there. I was hoping to try a pair of same brand and half size larger. My salesperson said "that would be too big for you." Ok, let me try a different pair but same brand. He said "we don't have it." That's so discouraging. Then, I started to browse around because I remembered seeing sweater and dress shirts on sale for $24.99. The salesman followed me to the sweater table. But he didn't seem helpful. I got my groom wedding outfit from Jos A Bank for my wedding and wanted to look presentable as the groom. The staff was very helpful and professional in setting me up with the right outfit. I got navy blue suit separate slim fit pants and vest with a white French cuff shirt. They tailored my pants as well for a nice look, like something out of the great gatsby. The vest and shirt were nice, but the selling point was the pants since they were fitted but comfortable with a bit of stretch. I cut the rug during the wedding reception and (so they say) I did a split in one of my drunken dances. Needless to say, the pants did not rip. Overall, I would definitely get more outfits from here for any upcoming events. read more

Will never be stepping foot in this store again. If you plan on buying a suit , save yourself the time and go to a different location. The workers are all entitled and rude. They treat you as if you are below them. The "brother" is rude and rather try on suit for himself then help us. The ginger manager needs to put on deodorant smelling like musty onions and the old redhead lady needs to take a customer service class. Only the Hispanic lady was understanding and nice. We came here after being completed ignored at Suit Supply and we're so glad we did! My fiance and I are getting married in April, and today he wanted to look for his tux. Wendell helped us and we ended up getting a custom tux from their Reserve line. Wendell was so nice and answered all of our questions. He really knows what he's doing! Let me start with the SERVICE...I entered the store already knowing what I was looking for but I waited for a minute at the front register to be acknowledged. A young lady was on the phone, but she directed a young man with a grey bow tie in my direction. I proceed to explain to him what I was searching for from my online search of their website and he proceeds to grab the list I had out of my hand and states let me see. (First mistake, invading my personal space). I informed him that I scribble my descriptions so it would be hard to read and yet he proceeded anyway. At this point I am taking a back and dumbfounded at his actions. He then proceeds to direct me in a direction of some high priced pants which I already told him which particular pants I came in to buy and as I am describing them (flat front, tailored pants), he makes a snarky remark stating that all the pants are in the same style which is factually incorrect, but I let him proceed. Second Mistake) I then asked about a couple of dress shirts I was trying to find due to my body type. It is not impossible, but hard to find shirts for a person with broad shoulders but short arms, so I was looking for a particular sleeve size and fit mainly a Tailored style shirt would fit the bill. His demeanor was annoying so I told him that I am OK and would look around on my own. While looking around, an older lady with who appeared to be her son/grandson(melanated) needed assistance and was looking for a shirt for him. The condescending tone the salesperson had was unbelievable and disappointing!!! While I was looking another gentleman with curly salt/pepper hair(best way I can remember) asked if I needed assistance so kudos for him, but I told him I was doing better looking by myself and gave him the universal nod thanking him. I did have some questions at a later time, but the curly haired gentleman was busy with another customer and I did not want to deal with grey bowtie salesman so a young lady by the name of Natasha came to my aid. Unfortunately, the items I needed were not in stock so I thanked her for the assistance and ordered the items online. read more

Poor customer service. They do not know how to communicate well. Went to look for a blank white shirt, and needed to try on a few shirts, but they were rude about opening up a shirt for me to try. Received a rental tux from here. Got fitted. Picked up a month later. The only thing that could have made it worse was if they were missing any pieces like they did for another member of the bridal party (he didn't receive his jacket after getting it altered). Shoes were the most uncomfortable things ever. Jacket and vest were way too big. Button down was super tight and couldn't even stay buttoned. $250 not work a rental from here at all. Ain't nothing wrong with an off-the-rack suit or tuxedo - especially when you're in a time crunch. I accidentally misread my college bestie's wedding invitation and didn't see the "black tie affair" blurb. Ooops. With my gf's wedding just a week away - and a beau completely ticked off about the whole sitch - I promised to buy him a tuxedo in time for the event. JoS A Bank certainly helped us in a bind, but there were a few avoidable hiccups along the way. A shirt that order that didn't come in on time - though it was promised - a manager that wouldn't accept fault and blamed "the new guy," and so-so customer service when we went in to try stuff on ...I'm not 100% certain I'd come back in again unless I had no other option. But I do like the fact that I was able to get a tuxedo for under a grand (around $600 before alterations). read more

I called for information on a Tux. Spoke to James Simmons. After that I proceeded to give him my measurements. He said "I have it" it is a common size. He then told me to come on over He told me that it is cheaper to buy than to rent "you can buy it for $100" When I got there he got two of the tuxedos and said ok all together is around $1000. He said you are getting it for $150 but its buy one get one for $150. He lied to me. I felt cheated. Dont buy at this location and dont buy from James Simmons. He is a liar. He also said ok then we have the rental option and it includes everything for $200 plus. But the tux he wanted me in had a button ripped off , string hanging. Horrible! Not a good experience. Bad customer service too. I had to wait like for 15 minutes for even someone to give me service. Never again. read more

It will be customer service if there was any service, but I was a customer, and there was no service. Granted, I got there, 20 minutes before it was going to close, but the fellow that I asked a couple of questions of, went to a section of the store, look for a couple of minutes for what I needed and basically gave up. Then he told me there were more shirts on this other section, while he proceeded to look at his phone, kind of oblivious to my question. I asked him if he had to go. He said his friend was texting him the Astro's score. I took care of myself by trying what I found, but they were more eager for me to go than to make the sale. I have had the most horrendous, drawn out experience ever imaginable with the team at your store at Jos. A. Bank here in Houston, and would like a chance to speak with you immediately. Sequence of events: - Custom shirts ordered ~ July 5- Return to pick up those shirts ~ July 23- Shirts had zero alterations or measurements to my size so sent reordered them- Received a call that my shirts were in and came back to no avail the week before August 14- Return to pick up my shirts as they say they'd been in ~August 14- The shirts were the exact same fit, there had been no changes relative to the reorder. I honestly question whether a reorder was ever even done. At this point, I am infuriated because this is one day before starting a new job that requires me to wear business professional attire daily and now I don't have any fitting shirts, after ordering them essentially 6 weeks prior. - After leaving, I call back and ask them how come they didn't try to find a solution for the day considering there was urgency behind it and I asked if I could buy shirts off the shelf in the interim and have them altered. They agree to it, so I return back up to the store. Everything seemingly goes well until I go back the day they tell me to -- which is on Tuesday.- Tuesday, August 16th, I go back to pick up my shirts and they are not there -- none of my shirts are done at this point. I made another trip to the store for no reason.- Friday, August 19th, I get a call saying that the two shirts I got altered while waiting on my reorder were ready, so I go there after work. And guess what? They're not ready and at this point, I don't know when any of my shirts would be ready. I have never been so stressed out dealing with any retailer anywhere in my life. I've had international travel and gotten better, more productive service from individuals of whom I didn't share a language with. This is ridiculous and has stressed me out to the max. And I STILL need my shirts.  I've dealt with Daniel, Jenn, the older black guy, Ali, Steve, Mr. Bob and someone else whose name I can't remember. And frankly, I just don't understand why it takes 8 people to get a single shirt. And while Daniel has tried to do things like accommodate me with extenders for shirts that are too small, I feel I deserve so much more consideration at this point. I even leveled with him and asked him to consider how many iterations this has taken and to think about whether it ever happened to him and how the employees treated him. He admitted that he's never experienced anything like this, so he couldn't even quantify the level of stress and inconvenience that has come with this. I challenged that with each additional blunder, there should be an incremental effort to make something happen and he shut me down. This has been too much. This has been the worst retail experience of my life. read more

We rented a total of 10 tuxes for our wedding. Much to our horror, Seven of the tuxes did not fit...INCLUDING THE GROOM's TUX. They "altered" the tuxes and we came back the next day to pick them up....Still didn't fit. They had to rush order the Tuxes from a nearby Jos A. Banks Hub. We finally received the correct size tuxes one day before the wedding and had to rush to make it to our rehearsal dinner. We never received an apology from the incompetent manager. For the love of god...get your tuxes at men's warehouse! I wish I took a picture of the grooms pants...They were a good 3 inches too short and two sizes to big. They looked like parachute pants. If it wasn't two days before my wedding it would have been hilarious. read more

Let me set the scene: It was Saturday morning around 12. I had a wedding that night, and I was planning to leave around 1. To my horror, my pants didn't fit. I scrambled and ran over to Jos. A. Bank. As soon as I walked in Walter Broussard greeted me. I told him my dilemma, and he immediately went into action. He was extremely gracious, prompt, and all around good at his job. He helped me select a new pair of pants, had me measured and had the pants tailored while I waited. I was out of there in less than 30 minutes. In my eyes, it was nothing short of a miracle. I'm confident they make miracles happen every day. This is absolutely the best retail experience I have ever had. Thank you, Walter, so much for your excellent service. Yesterday I had a really bad experienced, 4/14/2023, Upon entering the store around 3:32 pm, I was not greeted by any staff member. Despite my visible struggle for searching of a pant of my size and a specific color. None of the staff member offered assistance which ultimately led to a frustrating experience. Only one lady towards the end of my visit acknowledged my presence and ask if I needed help. I appreciate her effort but she was busy with another customer trying to get some sizes. She asked Bob if he could help me, notice he do not have any customer and another gentleman who was in the register wearing a brown suit he did not make an effort to make up or retain my business I left the store. Please notice I've been a loyal customer to this location since 2018. I would never come back to this location again. I am not quiet sure if Natasha still the manage but she provided a good customer service. read more

This location is busy, and I can't guarantee you'll get addressed as soon as you walk in the door, but it's a great location with knowledgeable staff (hint: especially weekdays) and I highly-recommend this place. I was a loyalist to their competitor (wearhouse) down the street for quite some time until they flippantly rejected a return that was completely their fault. On November 17th my husband and I went shopping for a tuxedo. After being disappointed in the selection at several premium stores we decided to head to Jos A Bank. Our salesman was very personable and attentive. He had to order the tux but assured us that it would be in the Monday after Thanksgiving. He suggested a fabulous shirt to go with the tux. After purchasing the tux , the shirt and all of the accessories, we returned home and RSVP'd an event scheduled the first week of December. My husband called on the 26th (the date promised) no tux. He was assured they would contact him as soon as it arrived. My husband called again on the 28th, still no tux. He was given another promise that he would be contacted when it arrived. Husband goes up to Jo's A Banks when he gets off work. Our salesman wasn't there. They fumble around and finally tell him that the tux he ordered wasn't in stock so they cancelled his order. Say what? The manager was called over and after much discussion, he was offered a better quality tux at the rate we had already paid. Then he asks about the shirt. No they don't have his size and the manager tries to get him to choose a different shirt. My husband patiently explains that he and I love the shirt we have already paid for and that's the one we want. So the shirt is reordered. Tux finally arrives and husband goes in on Dec 4th to have it fitted. I'm very disappointed in the way this entire fiasco was handled. Why wasn't he informed when he called to inquire, that the paid for order had been cancelled. Jo's A Bank used to be a quality store that catered to their customers. Not sure we will be returning anytime soon. read more

The staff here is nice enough but the whole process was unorganized, frustrating and an overall waste of time. From the beginning we were told there was a special going on, 2 custom suits for X price, spent the time to create both custom suits and then when checkout came it took about 30 minutes of confusion before a supervisor came out and said the special that was communicated to us was not actually happening. Instead it was one suit off the rack and one custom suit for X price and it would be an additional 300 for the second custom suit, rather than honoring the original deal that was communicated we had to start the process over again and pick a new suit. All measurements were taken when the suit orders were put in and they said they would call when ready. A few weeks later we received a call saying to come in and get the suits. We get there and the custom suit is there but not complete? They had us spend an hour taking more measurements, tried to upsell some tacky shirt/tie combos (no thanks) and said they'd call when the suit was ~actually~ ready. Two weeks later it still isn't. In short, unless you walk in and ask to deal exclusively with a store manager you're going to wish you had spent your time and money elsewhere, next time I will. read more

I purchased two tuxedos from this location. Other than their rude attitudes, poor service, lack of knowledge and unorganized procedures. I will start with quality. Both pants ripped, one the first evening (in the cab sitting down) the second on the second use (at a gala with my rear showing to God and the committee) I have not needed the second pair of pants until recently for our annual gala (brave to go to them again huh?) I was out running errands, in my gym clothes and probably a little scruffy. But, the rudeness of several staff members utterly shocked me! The first (and I use this lightly) "lady" spoke down to me and tried to tell me that the two articles of clothing that I had "was not their pants" as she argued I assured her that seeing the only tuxedos I had ever owned I got from them; she aggressively assisted me. Still refusing to admit the other item was theirs either. Then the manager came to offer his "help". What I thought would be my lucky break, (Records of sells) turned to be a miscoded system where he assured me that I had got these tuxedos at a time when I did not even live in Houston. Someone should let them know that they work at a low cost/quality suit store. Me, I'm off to Nordstroms. As Julia Roberts once said in a similar situation: "Big mistake. Huge!" read more

My fiance and I went to Jos. A. Bank to look at tuxedos/suits for our wedding. We were not sure what style & colors we wanted. As soon as we arrived, Walter greeted us and began helping us. He showed us the styles and colors that they had, and also helped find the right fit (which is the most important part of a suit in my opinion). After that, he took the various options to the dressing room and let me try them all on. In addition, he brought various shirts and ties over that my fiance wanted to see me try on. Overall, it was one of the best shopping experiences that I've had, and will be giving my future business to this store. One last thought - The whole buy 1 suit, get 3 free idea is kind of bizarre to me from the consumer side, but works great for a wedding party or someone who wears suits often. read more

- Wedding Tuxedo Rental - If you are in search for a tuxedo rental and you don't know much about them, then this review is for you. I own several suits, but I don't own a tux, never needed one. I assumed I could find some info on the internet, but nothing was too helpful. I finally decided to just drive to an AL's Formal wear (near the galleria). As I said, I didn't know much beyond lapel types, I assumed the person working at Al's would be a wealth of knowledge and help me in my decision...I was wrong. They do go over a few tuxedo types, and tell you the difference between the 3 lapels, but then that's it, they wanted me to reserve a time to try on the tux's and I still had no idea about what types of tux's they had. I left without an appointment and drove to Men's Warehouse on Gray street, where I had purchased my suits. The helpful experience I had recieved when I bought my suits was now replaced with indifference, as I was shown a small corner of about 5 tuxedo's. The salesperson in fact, stopped mid-sentence to go and help another customer who was walking aorund with suits. I guess the $1500 you will drop on a couple suits trumps a tux rental, but as a repeat buyer, I thought I'd get better service. Finally, just as I was about to throw in the towel, I saw there was Jos. A Bank across the street. I was doubful as I went inside, as they do not have actual tuxedos for you to see. But, I was soon led to a tux rental area where the sales lasy brought out multiple books filled with tux rentals. She went over the different types and selections. Soon, the GM of the store cam over, and together with the sales lady, he went over different types of tuxedos, the different cuts, the heaviness of the material, basically he informed an uniformed customer(me) on tuxedos, which is all I really wanted. I picked out a nice 3 piece tux, which had a base price of $189 and I upgraded several things to $230. Now, I know Al's was cheaper, but the service and quality that I got here more than made up for the extra $50 dollars or so. I also feel that salespeople are the representatives of their stores, so I hold the stores accountable for the actions of their workforce. I expect that if you work at a place that rents tuxedos, that you should be knowledgeable and helpful in renting the tuxedos. So, if you know about tux's and exactly what you want and don't mind casual indifference, go to AL's or Men's Warehouse - BUT - if you don't know much about tuxedos, want to be informed, have quality service, have a big selection to choose from and don't mind spending between $150-$200 on a rental, then go to Jos. I had an extremely pleaseant trip to this store. This store sells suits, polos, and shoes. This store targets mainly business professionals i think. When i walked in i was greeted by a Young Man named Chat. I simply told him what i was looking for and that i was still a little unsure of exactly what I wanted. He took me right to what i was looking for and was out of the store in a matter of minutes, This kind of stuff excites me because shopping is not my favorite thing to do. As always, it's a great experience to work with JAB to make me look as good as I can, challenge though it may be. At this location, David was very helpful, and I was very pleased with the clothing solution I was looking for, delivered in an efficient amount of time (not a fan of spending a lot of time looking for specific "clothing" solutions---just go in, tell them the situation you're looking to address, and have THE solution magically appear--which more or less happened with David's help in this case). The clothes are priced so they can have "spectacular" sales where you end up payingwhat feels like a fair price in the end--not cheap, but for the solid quality of the clothing, fair for everyone. As long as you know that, and keep an eye on their promotions, you'll be more than happy here. read more

I wasn't very impressed with this store based on my experience. Most of the selection (not just this store, but all Jos A Banks) is very old fashioned. Because I had a gift card, I had to purchase a suit over 4 weeks ago and I still haven't received it. They're now on their 3rd try with my alterations. The most insulting part was when an old salesman with cigarette breath tried to argue and convince me after the 2nd try that the suit fit fine despite an obvious bulge behind the collar. He would actually push the bulge down with his hand, pull the back end of the jacket out, and then tell me with a straight face that he couldn't see anything wrong with it when it was still obviously there. read more

The clothes are of a decent quality, a little below Nordstrom's signature lines. The alterations are a joke. Their tailors do not understand or know how to take in a dress shirt at the sides while leaving more room in the chest. You have to instruct the tailors on every detail that you want done. The tailors at any other place I have ever been to know what to do to make clothes fit and get it done right or pretty close the first time. I had to go back to Jos 3 times for a change. The first time I came back they had not done anything at all yet and they had had the clothes for over three weeks. The second time I came back only half the alterations were done. Even after three trips the shirts and pants that I bought do not fit great. And they charge about $15 per item for this "service". read more

My husband has spent thousands of dollars at Jos a Bank and I still wonder why. Every time I have walked in, the people are RUDE. They do not acknowledge you if you are not in your work attire. Today we went in to purchase two suits. We had a gentleman who was new and still learning the ropes. He was extremely nice and did the best he could. When he needed the assistance of the manager, the other employees said he was at Kroger. AT 5:30! Isn't the the time you should be available? People get off work at that time and will be coming into your store!!! The employee helping us had to ask multiple questions throughout our transaction and had to continuously go and find the manager for help. He seemed irritable, unavailable and flat out rude. This location is horrible! If we lived closer, I would go to Highland Village, because the manager from that location was amazing. read more

I normally don't shop at Jos. a. bank, but in this occasion I did due to a time crunch & the close proximity of it to my job. I found a nice seer sucker suit that I wanted to wear to a friends wedding in Jamaica (this is the rice village location) I express to them the time urgency & when I need it by. They promise to me they can have the alterations completed by Wednesday @ 5pm which is the day before I left for jamaica. This practically left room for no error time wise. Well Wednesday comes around & I call around 5pm & I'm advised it won't be ready until Friday. 2 days after I leave for Jamaica. Well shawn at the rice village location starts trying to figure out what it is he can do to accommodate me. He sends me to the river oaks locations where I deal with Marva. The fact that my suit wasn't ready by the promised time was annoying on its own. But Marva did an excellent job & went above & beyond to ensure my suit was ready the same day. They pulled another suit off the rack had me come in for alterations she put her staff to work on it. I think Marva sensed my frustration with the process & she ensured she did what she can do to fix the problem at hand.
