I've been looking to have some customized sport coats made and was told to check this place out. At first the name Suitsupply reminded me of some warehouse suit supply but was I wrong. It was or is much much more! At first the experience turned out bad that the styling advisor Tim scheduled me on a day that he had off. Who the hell does that! Styling advisor Tirrell picked up the slack and provided a great experience and know how. He took the time to find and located the sample cloths that most represented the color and styles I am looking for. After choosing the materials he did a nice job of measuring and accounting for some of nuanced body flaws to ensure the coats fits just right and I much appreciated that. Made an appointment to shop for a custom suit for a wedding. Great welcome and check in but quickly went downhill from there. Shared preferred colors with Aivy and she showed us swatches. Asked questions about customizing jacket liner, tie, etc. As soon as she determined that we were looking for a higher end suit that could not be purchased through their company she completely lost interest in serving us. Became very impatient and short with answers, walked away from us and stood in a doorway on her cell phone. She was so rude. We're talking borderline eye rolling. So I get it, you're not going to make a sale at that moment, however, she has guaranteed that we will never buy a suit from this company for any reason in the future. 10 out of 10 experience. I was shopping for my wedding outfit and had a general idea of what I wanted to get, but Christian at Suit Supply knew how to get me to my final vision. The whole time I was at Suit Supply, Christian never made me feel self conscious with all the questions I had, and he thoroughly explained all the options available to me. I bought a suit several years ago from here. Now another recently. I guess times have changed. This go-around, initial rep was decently friendly but then started to get visibly annoyed when family started asking some questions. On a follow-up visit, a different rep helped out and clearly was not feeling like being there and not very personable. To the point that other people could notice and we all still remember. It's a shame because I actually like the quality and construction of the actual suits themselves. The fit is good. But customer service has fallen off a cliff, especially when I'm dropping 4 figures here - you can certainly do better than that. This is my second time having an issue at suit supply. The first time my suit had an issue with extra fabric on my back (it was for my brother's wedding). I ended up not having the suit on the week of the wedding! This is my second time having an issue after buying a suit. I ended up giving suit supply a second chance and bought an amazing suit. I gave it to fix because the suit had a hole in it. They said they would fix it when I turned it in last Wednesday. I went back Sunday to pick it up and they said it was not ready. The great thing that I feel is lost these days is the great customer service they have. The suits are definitely great quality and the custom suit options fitted me well. If there were any issues, alterations can be made to my satisfaction. The people here are not like the salesmen at men's warehouse who don't care about fit and just want to make as much commission. I came to Suit Supply with my wife so we could look at some outfits for her, particularly a few suit outfits. The Suit Supply store does not have any female garments in inventory but we were still able to receive awesome assistance from both Mario and Farhan. They treated us with utmost professionalism and demonstrated a great amount of knowledge about the garments, fit, fabrics, and the Suit Supply process. They asked a lot of the "right" questions and listened to my wife's requirements and concerns. The main concern is "would the garment fit correctly?" as she has been previously disappointed when working with another M2M program. They took my wife's measurements and we purchased three suits online. One week later they arrived at the store and when we arrived, we were greeted warmly. My wife tried on each suit and they fit amazingly. Yes, there was some "taking in" that needed to be performed, but the garments fit so well my wife almost couldn't believe it. After we were done, Mario took my measurements so it would be on file when I decide to purchase a custom suit. I now plan to do that within the month. This experience has surpassed my expectations. Updating my review from last year. They seem to have done a either a retraining and or re staffing. Service has improved 100%, I'm even remembered and greeted now when I walk in the door. I am extremely satisfied with this. Like I mentioned my last review was solely service based. Now I have a tall 6'3 athletic build. The cuts are more European so I went from a 39L to about 42L when switching over. Tailoring is very good, more than what I'm used to paying but whatever. There is also an entire wall of dress shirts. My fiancé was fitted for a dress shirt, and they gave him a few shirts to try on. On my wife's account as I don't generally yelp, but I love SuitSupply so much that I am writing this now haha. I am somewhat into sartorial matters and have been purchasing on average a suit a month over the last year, usually only suit makers less than $1000. I've bought from online made to measure programs (Dragon Inside, Black Lapel, Thick as Thieves) and brick and mortar shops (Nordstrom (i.e., Hugo Boss), Norton Ditto in Houston, Brooks Brothers, etc.), and I have to say SuitSupply is by far my favorite in terms of overall service, atmosphere, price, selection, quality and construction. Service: Stylish service reps that are knowledgeable about suits and fashion. They dress well and that makes me confident that they can dress me well too. The rep I regularly go to is Grant Gray, but really, all of them are extremely friendly and helpful. Grant is not only knowledgeable when it comes to fit and style (what patterns work best against my skin tone/height/build and where things need to be taken in, etc.), but he's willing to voice his own opinion. It makes me confident in his suggestions, especially if one is not as knowledgeable about suits. He doesn't try to make me splurge only on the expensive stuff. Compared to Brooks Brothers (Galleria location), I have found BB reps are now mostly rude and ignorant about suits. They don't seem to keep up with sartorial matters, give bad advice on fit (Norton Ditto is especially bad on fit advice, but I digress) and just usually leave me somewhat irked. I used to shop at BB a lot but no more! Atmosphere: New store in a very nice complex. Layout is modern and fashion forward, with free coffee and great design. Parking is usually plentiful in the complex, save maybe peak hrs on weekend nights. Price: Are there cheaper suits? Sure, but they will generally be of lower quality. I'm not saying everyone should budget ~$500 for a suit (the Jo. A Banks and Mens Warehouses of the world provide good suits too for their price range), but if you are and can afford to care more about the quality and construction (more on that later), then SS is very reasonably priced. No other brick and mortar shop offers suits at as reasonable of a price for the same quality (in fabric, construction and style) as SS. Just as good quality but cheaper online MTM sites are available, but of course you run into the hassles and risks of online MTM and having to wait on average a month for the suit (barring no issues, and the first suit always has issues...). SS has suits ranging from around $399 (Napoli cut usually, which isn't my favorite as the shoulders are too padded) to $999 (full canvas, high 150s wool garments that are amazing), though as I mentioned above, most suits average around $500. Brooks Brothers 1818 suits are on par with the average SS suit, but BB suits are usually ~$1000, or ~$750 each if you buy 2. BB's annual winter sale brings the suits down closer to $600, but that's just SS suits all the time! Sadly though, SS suits essentially never go on sale for these reasons. Selection: So BB is for a more conservative and older crowd. I am not saying SS does not have basic staples for a conservative office environment (I work in a conservative law firm and there's plenty of choices for me at SS), but it will have more interesting fabrics and patterns at their disposal. The cuts are slimmer fitting, i.e., European, so if you're really, really big (and I don't mean in height), suits here might not work for you. Otherwise, they have anything from really fashion forward to pretty traditional and conservative, but for people of a smaller size (such as myself), there are more options as they carry more 36Ss (and even 34Rs for those even smaller!). Quality and Construction: Fabrics are usually anywhere from 110s to 130s for suits ~$500, and all of these are only half canvassed. $999 for their 150s wool, full canvassed suits. Very comparable to BB 1818 suits in construction, fabric and overall fit. But the combination of service rep's knowledge + the cut of their suits have yielded me my BEST fitting suits. My favorite suit (out of ~10 and growing) is a SuitSupply suit. BB Golden Fleece line will be better than most SS suits, except maybe their $999 one (La Spalla), but BB's GF line is $1600-$2100 and usually a 'wider' cut soooo.... Side note: BB suits often are made in the USA while SS suits are made in China, but don't confuse that with shoddy work. The stitching, attention to detail and overall construction is still splendid. TL;DR: SuitSupply is hands down my favorite brick and mortar shop, beating out Brooks Brothers in terms of price and service. Only cons are I wish they had a fully canvassed suit that was not 150s wool (too delicate) and cheaper, like $750-800. And their name is kind of lame (one initially thinks low quality when one hears SuitSupply). Aside from that, definitely give this place a try if you plan on spending ~$500! I was with Farhan Janjua and he was very knowledgable about the suit selections, fits, tie/shirt combinations, etc. When I went in to buy my suit, I went in with the idea that plain/solid suits were the only things that suited me. I liked the idea of other patterned suits, but never actually bought one, until I talked with Farhan at SuitSupply. That day, I walked out with an order on a three piece navy window pane suit, and two days ago, I bought a Lazio stripe 3 piece as well. As a man, the two most nerve racking things to buy in your life are 1) an engagement ring and 2) a suit. I spent months looking over all of the different options of what to buy, which store to buy from, and what to look for in a suit. Then, I had a friend recommend me to look at SuitSupply. In the world of men's suits, there are a few things to consider. 1. Fabric. Probably the most important thing when buying a suit. The majority of SuitSupply's suits are made from Italian Super 110 to Super 150 wool. The super number just means how many times it's been worsted, so the higher the number, the smoother the fabric. However, this is a trade off, as the higher the super number, the lower the durability. The main line of SuitSupply's uses either Super 110 or Super 120, which I think is the best compromise between luxury and durability. 2. Construction - Almost all of the suits from SuitSupply have at least a half canvas. You may ask, "what is canvassing? they put a painting in the suit?". Simply put, it's a third layer between the lining and the exterior that gives body and allows the suit to drape much better on your body. Normally, your run of the mill department store suit or Jos. A Bank suit will simply have the two layers glued together. This gives off a really stiff and unnatural look. The downside is, canvas is expensive. For a good compromise, SuitSupply has the majority of their suits as a half canvas, which allows better draping over your body without adding all the cost of a fully canvassed suit. 3. Fit - The suits here are definitely more modern and more fitted. Versus other stores, such as Brooks Brothers which I love for their quality, the fit can be very dated. There are many suits here that are conservative enough for the office but also ones that are very fashion forward. In essence, they have almost every style you would want. In terms of the price to performance, a similar suit at Brooks Brothers would be $1000. At SuitSupply, it's HALF that. Why is this you may ask? For one, the suits here are made in China. This may set off a lot of alarms for people, but please go in and take a look at the suits here and then compare them to made in the USA or Italy suits. For the price, the construction, and the fabric they use, it's an absolute steal. You may also ask, why can't i just buy a cheap suit for a couple hundred bucks? Well, you could but 1) it won't look good on you 2) you'll be sweating a lot more 3) it won't last as long. The suits that you usually buy at a department store are fused and over time the glue can be undone. This causes the suit to have bubbles in the fabric, essentially destroying it. For me, I would save up a little more money and have a higher quality suit that will last me for a long time than having to buy multiple suits that I just simply do not feel good in. Some of the downsides are that all of the pants are unhemmed and you cannot change the pants size with the jacket. Also, they do not sell suit separates. I had bought a medium grey flannel suit proxied through my friend in Europe and had them tailor the suit here. Ethan was a great help, gave me suggestions, took his time with measurements, and explained to me in detail how the suit should be tailored. I was also shopping around for a new navy blue suit, and the information that you get from the sales associates is excellent. Comparatively, when you go to Brooks Brothers or similar establishments, most of the sales associates are not at all familiar with how suits should fit or any of the details in how they are made. The people here definitely have the knowledge and a passion for what they do. Whelp, after a few years of of doing athletic stuff, there's nothing quite as awkward as trying to squeeze into an old suit. Imagine a Thom Browne suit sized down two. Yeah, it's not pretty. After checking out the usual spots like J. Crew and Brooks Brothers, I turned to SS to find something that would work. If you're shopping at SS, you've probably already done your homework online and know that they offer some pretty awesome stuff for a great price that rivals some of the more expensive brands when it comes to materials and construction. In store, they've got a huge selection of suits and colors that you'll for sure find something that'll suit you (see what I did?). Katia (sp?) was super knowledgeable about fit and she has a good eye for detail. You know someone has experience when they're able to determine your suit size with a glance. Since I was only in town for a few days, I didn't bring any dress shoes with me to help with the hemline fit. Katia lent me a pair as well as a dress shirt to give me an idea of what the entire ensemble would look like. A few pins later, my suit was off to the on-site tailor to be picked up in a few days. A few days later, I picked up my suit, tried it on, and Katia's pins were spot on. Jacob finished off the experience by helping pick out two great-looking ties. BLUF, I'll be back. I love Suit Supply. I've been buying custom suits online for a few years but SS is definitely above the rest. Everything is really high quality and I have definitely converted. It's a tad bit more expensive than some of the other options BUT in their defense, the quality is high and I don't have to tailor their shirts for example so it comes out to the same for me. The shirts fit me like a glove. Their store is awesome and you can valet right out front. Only reason I won't give 5 stars is because customer service is not a priority. The sales people have been rude/condescending to me a few times and I brushed it off cause it was some young guy probably in his first suit feeling snotty. But I knew it wasn't me when I recommended my mom buy my dad a SS gift card there for his birthday and the first thing she tells me when I see her is how rude the sales person was. I was recommend to come to this place because they have high quality suits. I walked in and was immediately greeted. I was looking for a suit for interviews and they took me to the back and did a few measurements. They gave recommendations on the color, the suit styles and allowed me to try on several different styles based on what I wanted. After trying on several different styles, I choose the Napoli an the lazio because they were the most conservatives suits. They asked if I wanted it taylored and custom fitted to my body shape and made some recommendations for adjustments. There is a cost for the adjustments but after trying on the suit before and after, I feel the adjustments were spot on. I really enjoyed the experience and I really like the suits I brought. Very happy with my purchase and the service I received. Staff is very knowledgeable about fit, measurements, and their suits in general. The salesmen (Stuart and Mario) spent a lot of time with me making sure my measurements/alterations were perfect. They gave me style advice, helped me pick out several various shirts/ties/pocket squares to mix and match with the suit I was purchasing and even took pictures of the various combos and emailed them to me so I'd remember what goes with what. Never felt pressured to buy anything or like they were pushy/working on commission. Overall, has become my new go-to spot for dress clothes hands down. Highly recommend. read more
