Allison was a superb style advisor during my suit buying experience. She did a great job of helping me find the right material, cut, details, and fit for my new suit. The real value, though, was her ability to implicitly understand what style I like. She was never pushy and never tried to upsell but she was also direct about things that she thought would be a bad choice or a good choice. It's a difficult line to walk but an important skill when helping somebody make a significant purchase. I can be very indecisive and her advice helped put me at ease over the course of multiple fittings and visits. The final result was a 3-piece suit that fits, looks, and feels great. read more

UPDATE: I was contacted by Meagan Meeks a few months after posting my terrible review below with an offer to make up for my poor initial experience. We set up an appointment and I was pleased to find a professional storefront stocked with many samples of their garments in various styles and fabrics. The whole appointment was a very pleasant experience. Meagan offered drinks right away and really made my wife and I feel at home. We went through the process of picking out a suit and taking my measurements. Meagan was extremely helpful with her comprehensive knowledge of not only all the offerings but also how they would play with each other--eg which color buttons would look best on the chosen fabrics. It took about 9 weeks for the items to arrive. It would have been less but we ordered a custom shirt too and Meagan was honest from the day of our appointment about that potentially delaying the shipment. I was expecting the materials to be top-notch but I didn't know what to expect fit-wise. All I can say is--WOW. I can't believe how well the suit and shirt fit. I didn't even have to look in a mirror. From the moment I put the items on, I could tell that everything was perfect. The mirror (and wife) only confirmed what I already knew. Companies are allowed to make mistakes. As consumers we're allowed to write bad reviews and avoid them for the rest of our days. This company saw one of those bad reviews, made a change in their operations, and reached out to fix a customer who was wronged. In doing so they have gained a customer for life. I will certainly be buying from Knot Standard in the future. Thank you Meagan for your work to turn around the Houston store, and in helping design the perfect suit! -------- Pretty simple review: - I used their website to schedule an appointment but then had to reschedule - I called Lindsay 10 days in advance to cancel that appointment and reschedule for 10am on Jan 3 - On the day of the original appointment I got a snippy series of text messages from Brooke asking why I wasn't there, so obviously there was a communication problem between Lindsay (who rescheduled me) and Brooke (who was expecting me). I had done my due diligence since Lindsay told me on the phone that we were all set with the reschedule. - Lindsay gave me instructions to arrive at a high-rise building and inform the receptionist of my appointment - I arrived precisely at 10am and the receptionist paged her three times with no answer - I then called Lindsay's personal cell phone which she did not answer, so I left a voicemail including my phone number - I waited an additional 15 minutes before leaving I still haven't gotten a call, email, or text back, despite having been in communication via all three methods with them (Lindsay and Brooke) to make this appointment. So go ahead and schedule your appointment, but don't count on them actually honoring it or even giving you the courtesy of explaining why they couldn't be there. This is an operation that hasn't figured out how a business is supposed to run, as the employees do not communicate with each other or their clients, and they do not honor appointments or even (apparently) opening hours. read more

Just received my 1st order fromKnot Standard- a custom blazer and dress shirt. I could not be more satisfied with the final product! The shirt is absolutely the best fit I have ever purchased and the blazer is perfection. I have ordered several custom fit shirts and blazers and of the different companies I've ordered from Knot Standard is by far the best. Here's why.... They take 22 measurements to other companies 12. The customer service is stellar and I could tell that Lindsay was just as excited as I was to pick out my fabrics and extras. Initially thought this would be good. Various options, nice quality, but was really upset with execution. Promised to have custom suit (for my upcoming wedding) in within four - six weeks. At the end of six weeks they informed us that production made errors to jacket. After visiting store, found out that not only did they make some production errors, they made the jacket completely different from what we agred on with Lindsay. After agreeing once again on the final the details of the coat ONCE AGAIN with Benitta, not only did they did not meet the deadline for having the coat back to us, THEY INFORMED US JUST AT THE DEADLINE THAT SOME OF THE ITEMS NEEDED FOR PRODUCTION OF THE COAT WERE NOT IN STOCK. So at this point it's almost three months with no jacket...remind you that my wedding is in a little less then three weeks. Hopefully I won't have to wait more than the original 3-5 business days as agreed upon for a refund...even though I was required to pay for the entire suit upfront. Updated after...the decided to give me the pants and shirt free of charge after the whole incident...but still no jacket ‍. read more

Wow. Can't say enough good things about Knot Standard, their customer service, quality/fit of their suits, or Lindsay Singletary. I've had two tuxes and one suit made by Lindsay and Knot Standard, and could not be happier with the outcome. I've been stopped by random women on the street telling me what a great looking suit I have on. Doesn't get much better than that! I've never been able to buy a suit off the rack due to being built like a racehorse. I've tried other comparably priced places like Suit Supply, Nordstrom, etc. but had no luck finding anything that fit me well. Lindsay helped me pick a good quality suit that would be versatile, durable, and good looking. She walked me through picking the fabric, the liner, the buttons, etc, offered advice at the appropriate times, and gave an HONEST opinion. She has made all kinds of suits with all types of fabric and knows what looks good and what doesn't. The biggest advantage of going to Knot Standard (aside from their high quality, exceptionally made, completely custom suits) is that you deal with Lindsay Singletary. Lindsay was very punctual, organized, and on top of things with regards to my suit and tuxes. Lindsay is not a salesman (woman); she is a consultant, a fiduciary. I bought a suit at their brick and mortar location here in Houston. It was a strange set up, but once I met Chris and sat down to chat with him about what I was looking for and why I wanted a custom suit, I was in. I selected a fabric, which is actually harder to do than you would expect--it's difficult to project what an 8" x 6" fabric swatch will look like on a suit--and a basic cut of coat. Chris took my measurements and I waited. The suit took a while to be made because the fabric was on back order. When I got it, I immediately regretted the fabric choice: way too close to true blue. But Chris was gracious about it and got me set up with another suit. It came quickly and is true navy. Had the last bit of alterations done at a local tailor Chris uses (all included in the price of the suit) and I now wear that suit weekly. But here's the best part: because everything is custom made and measured, I don't have to suffer through modern cut pants. Holy Moses, I feel like my thighs can actually breathe. Great experience. The only thing that could be irksome was not hearing from Chris for a while, but I chalked that up to the strange situation I was in with the back ordered fabric and everything. I have two suits now, even if one is far more casual than the other due to its coloring, with matching vests that fit better than anything I've ever owned. Well worth the price, which I can't remember, but believe was between $800-$1,000. I'm not sure they still have this deal, but Chris offered me 3 suits plus 6 shirts (basically a new wardrobe) for something like $2,400. That's insanely reasonable and if I were in the market for that (either because of weight loss/gain, starting a new profession, or whatever), I would have taken him up on it. Overall, a great experience and when it comes time to get another suit, I will be shopping at Knot Standard. read more
