Um...WHOA?! I've…read moreheard about this store from friends before, but thought it was just a fancy menswear store. Well boy, was I wrong. I stopped in a few days before Christmas, and I actually had a few things yet I wanted to get my grandpa, so this worked out great. At the entrance - and throughout the store - I found free hot coffee, tea, refreshments, cookies, and treats. Maybe it's just a holiday thing but I loved the hospitality. The space is HUGE - so much more than clothes! I had no idea. They have: - books and coffee table books - a whole room dedicated to perfume/cologne and scents - a whole area for cocktail-related gifts - home decor, tableware, and interior decor items - kitschy smaller giftables that were organized by theme (work/office, hosting, etc.) - menswear and womenswear - jewelry - candles - and so much more! I genuinely believe you can walk in here and be sure to find something for anyone on your gifting list. The service was incredible: lots of welcomes and greetings, and staff there to help you if you need it. Oh, they even have a room you can reserve while shopping?! FANCY!

However, a close friend is diving in for his third, and I applaud his happiness. I won't wear a tuxedo, but I needed to have a suit made that would make the bride and the 400 attendees comfortable. The bride already told me not to don a fedora or pink sneakers, although I wanted to. Todd Fliginger at Martin Patrick took me under his wing. Todd is amazingly kind, helpful, and knowledgeable. He sent swatches to Milwaukee before we moved to Minneapolis. Tailors were brought in, especially the master tailor Robert, not only to measure, but also to have me try on different designers' pieces to see what would fit well. I am a difficult fit, with a body more like a penguin than a human. That's what a custom tailor in NYC told me. However, I don't nosh on Krill. Todd and Robert took hours to get a correct fit and guaranteed that I would look good. Todd even saved me several hundred dollars off the original quote. ADDENDUM: My suit arrived, and it looked amazing. A few alterations are required to ensure a perfect fit, but that's it. I had a suit made on Savile Row in London that cost more than three times this suit's price, and it did not fit as well. This store should be on every list of Minneapolis's sightseeing highlights. It is akin to a design museum. Everything at Martin Patrick--furniture and furnishings--is for sale, and they're all amazing! Martin Patrick 3 is down-to-earth sophistication, with a NYC or Parisian vibe. Yet, the staff is Midwest empathetic. It is a Minneapolis treasure, as is Todd. I might not be looking forward to this wedding, but at least I know I will look my best.

She created this market to help artists and artisans, and to collect toy donations (as well as household goods and non-perishable food items for humans and pets) for STEP (the St. Louis Park Emergency Program). It's the annual event's first year in this space, and according to the website, the Market will be going on AT LEAST through December 27, 2023, Tuesday-Sunday from 11:00am-5pm. We parked in the ramp across the street and had no trouble finding this space. It was well lit and clearly identified. The space inside is also well lit, and there's plenty of room to move around in. There's a central counter where you bring the items you wish to purchase to pay for them. For the event that day, a donation to STEP earned you a ticket for a free slice of Muddy Paws Cheesecake. They had on offer about a dozen different flavors that evening, "New York" being one, and it's my absolute favorite, both in texture and flavor. My companion chose a slice of the Salted Caramel, which is equally delicious, but in a different way. For environmental reasons, I was so pleased to see the slices being served in paper board boxes, instead of the previous clear hard-plastic clam shells. There's a large section displaying the clothing pieces designed by St. Paulite, Laura Hlavac. Also available are jewelry made by various artisans, artisan pieces made from things such as snow skis, hockey sticks, hockey pucks, metal piping, golf balls, leather scraps and antique flour sacks, quirky greeting cards, handmade holiday ornaments, soaps, candles, lotions & potions, unique clothing pieces, and hats. In addition, you'll find a large selection of locally-designed puzzles. So many different things to see! And if you find yourself becoming a bit "hangry", buy yourself a slice of Muddy Paws Cheesecake and a bottle of water (or a cup of coffee if they're offering it) and set yourself down for a little while on one of the kids' chairs and relax, and enjoy your slice of delight. Or buy a slice (or an entire cheesecake) on your way out to enjoy later on at home!

But now "Things Done Changed." (Biggie reference.) Within the last couple years, a handful of new spots have opened up in Minneapolis alone! Phenom is refreshing with its dope two room setup, wooden floors, and tees that hang from an automated and revolving rack above. (Like what drycleaners have.) They also carry a small selection of sneaker classics like Nike Air Maxes, Jordans, and New Balances (the non-Grandpa kind), some interesting caps (both snapback and fitted), and original sweatshirts I've never really seen online. I'm not really a fan of their selection, but I can see how some peeps dig it. Aside from the gear, the customer service could be better. I saw one Nike Air Max and got a staff member to get it in my size. I found that it didn't fit and tried chatting with him a bit. He seemed disinterested in trying to sell me anything and left to talk to the shorty at the front of the store. At other boutiques, the staff usually tries to hustle me. Kinda surprised. Again, I love Phenom's dope space and can appreciate their gear, but the customer service could be better.

Pricy for some of these products because of their brands, but it's well worth the pricepoint if you are savvy in the streetwear game and understand what you're actually looking at! o.O

I went there to shop, the lady who works there was very short with me when I asked her questions about what I was looking for and she did it because I am a young black male. She was suspiciously glancing at me while I was looking at some items. She made me feel uncomfortable then I left the store. On my way out she followed me until I am out of the store and she stood half way through the door until i was 50 ft away and she went back inside the store. I could not believe it. This made me think , do I look scary ? do I look different? Of course, I am dark skinned from Africa. This is a true story and I am not accusing her of being racist but she got it wrong. I am asking any one who believe in social justice not to shop in that store because she doesn't welcome people of color or helping them as customers. I understood that area is predominantly white but it does not mean that black people have no right to shop there. It's one thing if you don't understand. But don't ever tell me it doesn't happen to me. I was definitely stereotyped and here I am spreading the word out. Shame on you and your store and your lack of customer service culture. You are ignorant and rushed to judgement for being prejudice because I am a you black African man. I hope you read this and review what is in your heart toward young black man. We need love because out of many we are one. I PRAY that you think about what you did to me and change what is your heart and state of mind.
