Aloha All - first thing is I Highly recommend Joey without reservations and is one of the most trustworthy craftsman I know. Please see my review of January 2023 when he did some interior work at our house. This review is for the second job that he just completed. To demonstrate the level of trust that we have he actually stayed in our house near Salt Point State Park many nights instead of driving back and forth an hour and a half each way. This trust alone should be enough for anyone of us to push the hire button. The latest project is a 121 year old single story ranch house. It had been neglected by prior family with little maintenance and was years overdue for paint. The prep work alone was over 8 days of scraping and sanding. I worked on the weekends for a few months then Joey took over. Besides the professionalism and highly skilled craftsmen that he is . . . Joey is also an Artist. Technical skill is one thing but in this business aesthetics can be everything especially when it is a home and can encompass all those complicated feelings that arise from a long history with multiple generations having lived and loved in this house. He made a lot of suggestions that we implemented. None of those cost us extra nor were designed to add to the bill (I know some contractors do that or people feel they do so I am adding this in). Great communication because the front of the house is complicated, what with all the lines, cuts, wraps, mouldings, and accent pieces. We discussed in exact detail how it was to be done. His suggestions were welcome and spot on. Really personable, likeable, and down to business. His rate was competitive and reasonable. I interviewed a few others painters and Joey's presentation was the most comprehensive. We walked around the house assessing the level of work that needed to be done. One painter eyeballed the house and gave a suspiciously low figure. Another brought his 4 year old along; while kids are awesome it was distracting. His bid was also significantly higher. Still, there was another contractor whose approach could have been better. We used Sherwin Williams Superpaint. The body is in a velvet sheen, the trim and accent in a shinier Low Sheen. If you are looking to paint, get your bids earlier in the year because they will book up. ps: The colors in the pic are yellowish due to the lighting. We hired Joey from Joseph Paul Painting to paint the exterior of our 1940 house near Montgomery Village. I had contacted some other services but the estimates were not what we were looking for. Joey was very knowledgeable and did a thorough walk around of the house. He pointed out areas that needed some work before being painted. His estimate was unchanging throughout even though he went above and beyond what he had put on the preliminary report. We were so pleased with his work and his attention to detail. I strongly recommend!  This is the company to use if you want to ensure your money is well spent and you'll get extremely high quality work. They recently painted my house exterior. It wasn't a small job and it had significant challenges.  Much of the siding dated back to 1960---thick layers of bubbling and peeling paint due to the failure of 57-year-old primer.  In addition, there were spots that hadn't been sealed for years which resulted in rotting wood.   To top it off, there was mildew because the prior owners had used a sub-par grade paint. This company by far exceeded my expectations on the prep work.  I'm very demanding, but even where I would have been satisfied with the extent of the prep work they weren't. All mildew wasn't just pressure cleaned, but killed with the right carefully controlled chemicals. The crew spent days ensuring that all surfaces were fully clean and stripped down before any paint touched the house.   The paint was similarly properly applied.  I have overlapping horizontal siding, so right up front in the bid they told me that it needed to be double rolled on top of the spraying.  This ensures the bottom edge of the siding is well sealed and doesn't wick up moisture.  Again, no cutting corners.   The result is crisp.  Super crisp.  Everyone who has come by my house has just stood and stared at it.  I never knew that a paint job could be so interesting!  It's because the work is so well done that it takes years off my house and certainly increased the value---not to mention the enhanced protection. read more

We have a small one-story house with a roofed patio attached to the back and a small, detached shed. It would seem like a simple job, but we were particular about details and had very specific ideas for our trim and siding work. The patio was especially complicated because of its raftered ceiling, latticed fencing, and worn deck. We called Joey based on his recommendations and good reviews. He's a meticulous craftsman and took over a week to complete everything exactly as we wanted, with focused attention to detail. He cleaned and prepped the buildings before applying two coats of durable Kelly Moore paint in colors we had chosen. Our caulking needs alone were a major part of his preparation work. We recently hired Joseph to paint the master bedroom and two bathrooms in our home. From start to finish, we had an excellent experience with him and his team! The first word that comes to mind is meticulous. First they power washed the roof, walls and patios and then they carefully painted the house repairing any rotted wood as they went along. They put drop clothes over the plants close to the house to protect them from paint. When they were finished, our house looked fantastic. Before they left, they cleaned up so that there was no trace of their being here, except for the excellent paint job.
