Most important, the food was REALLY good. I didn't really understand the menu at first, and the man behind the counter wasn't very friendly. He told me their chips and salsa aren't like what you get in most Mexican restaurants, and that they make their salsa in house. I was confused, because I was like, What do you mean your chips and salsa aren't like chips and salsa? But I get it now, and they really aren't. The chips are totopos, and the salsa is a very flavorful, thin pureed sauce that has been cooked or roasted-- not sure exactly how they make it, but there is cooking and technique involved for sure. They were SO GOOD. So delicious-- I have an Oaxaca restaurant nearish me, and now I can't wait to try it. I ordered the ceviche, which came with the totopos. I asked for more salsa verde and glad I did. They do charge for extra salsa (if your order comes with it, they give you a little of each the red and green). Glad I did because it was SO GOOD. Best tacos in at least the three surrounding counties in W TN! The staff is always friendly and accommodating, and they are doing street tacos the right, authentic way. Orders are always ready when they say. The only reason I'm not giving a 5-star rating is because I recently veered off from street tacos (of which I'm a connoisseur, if I do say so myself) to try other menu items and I wasn't all that impressed. Back in town visiting family and stopped back in for some great grub. It's the best restaurant in the area. Food is fresh and delicious. We got the burrito califas, lengua taco, and birrias. We just got back from Mexico and the lengua is very much like we ate in Mexico- perfectly cooked and seasoned. On a corn tortilla with onions, and I green sauce makes it perfect. My in-laws are Puerto Rican and was surprised to find good food in a small town with flavor. Everything is amazing and done correctly. The food is flavorful and prices are great. GF options all over the place. They gave various Mexican sodas and so happy they make more traditional flavors and not so much the American spin on it. I could always use more spice and peppers but the flavors were so good, that spice wasn't necessarily missed. Great staff and fun atmosphere. Always clean. read more

Stopped by Jose's for dinner tonight; got the usual... so I thought. The order that I received was nothing like my previous orders in the past. Which came with a side of chips along with queso and salsa. This time it did not, when I asked the cashier if there was a changed in the menu, she couldn't give me a straight answer. So, I had to purchase the "extra" items just to complete what was advertised on the menu board. Our party left a good tip with the expectations that the food/service was going to be good. I just ordered the same exact item about a month ago and it was constant with my previous visits. I am going to upload pictures for comparison. First time here, but definitely won't be the last. Ordered the carne asada fries with no pico and avocado salsa on the side. It was delicious! The chipotle salsa that was on the dish was not too spicy and the avocado salsa was refreshing. He cooked the fries to order and it only took a few minutes to get my food. Jose's is truly the most amazing Mexican food that I have ever tasted. I've been twice since moving to Covington and don't plan on stopping any time soon. Let's start by sayin the pastor was extremely good. Had lots of flavor and was just flat out good. Presentation was really good. Now was it worth the money? Probably not. The tacos are tiny. I'm used to the tacos from the south side of Chicago and suburbs. 3 tacos up there will fill you up but the tacos from here, I could have ate 6-9 and still not been full. Also the guy with the tattoos behind the counter that took my order was kinda rude and seemed in a bad mood. I took a star off for the small portions and a star for the guy being fairly rude. First time ordering and it was delicious. I had the pastor taco and the Baja taco. My boyfriend got the chicken burrito and a chicken taco. All was amazing! For my tacos I got their homemade tortillas and you can taste the freshness. Only thing with our order is my boyfriend didn't want tomatoes in his burrito but other than that no complaints and I wouldn't even call that a complaint TBH. He picked through most of the tomatoes and still loved his burrito. We also got their homemade chips and those are spot on! They also make all of their own salsas. Jose's has good food. BUT, they are EXTREMELY overpricing their menu items. Yes, circumstances right now are hurting small businesses and major corporations alike. But a lunch for two people should NOT cost nearly $45. I got my fiancée and I two small tacos, a quesadilla, and a torta loka. My total was $41.48!!! No drinks no appetizers nothing. To overcharge your customers that much is careless customer service. As a business you can't just think of yourself; you have to put yourself in the shoes of the customer, who is also hurt financially. Regardless of the good food, I sadly won't be coming back and I advise you to do the same. For that price, you can enjoy far better food AND customer experience. read more

Where is Jose? Not happy with this place. Ordered 3 Taco`s and a side of rice. Got home and realized that they forgot the rice. Called 3 times and no answer. One table of people and me getting a to go order. Couldn`t understand why nobody was answering the phone. Went back and the guy at the register said, sorry we had the phone off the hook.I told him I had ordered rice with my order. He said he didn`t here me. He said I didn`t charge you for it. I said, I don`t know, you didn`t give me a receipt. He said; we don`t give receipts. I`m sure the IRS would love to hear that. Sounds like a policy. He said; would you like to order the rice now. Charged me 2.50 instead of giving it to me for free, since by this time my Taco`s were cold and I was pissed. I asked him if he realized that they would not be getting a good revue from me. The girl working with him said, thats OK, our Face Book page is down and has been closed. As I was walking out the front door, they giggled like they were stoned. Very odd situation. I`m sure Jose would like to know he has some dead beats working for him. Also they had no menu`s. I worked all day standing and wanted to sit and read the menu to order. He said the only menu we have is taped to the counter. I don`t recommend this restaurant. read more
