Can I get a show of hands on WHO fights a Chicken Chimichanga w/plastic to-go ware? Anyone? Yeah that's a problem but only one of many as I wait on my receipts to come back to me. 1. Seems there's some weird disconnect going on I wasn't aware of... This location is now going by Las Mexicanos instead of Los Comales. Looks like almost all new staff too, that could definitely use some Customer Service training. The menu has a 3rd name on it that seemed off as well. I was not told to come to the hostess stand to be seated, no friendly greeting when I did approach the stand. Once seated, the chip & salsa dude was quick enough in dripping them off w/out so much as a greeting. Maybe he's the silent type? Who knows? 2 Now the real wait begins.... Nothing to drink nor any sign of anyone even slowing down @ my table to take a drink order. Maybe they were fighting to see who would take my order? ‍ I was almost finished w/the basket of chips, decided what I wanted and LAID THE CLOSED MENU on the other side of the table close to the edge, hoping someone would notice. I had decided if they couldn't be bothered to come by the time I finished the chips I was leaving. Magically a waitress finally shows up w/3 chips to spare. Placed the order for water and dinner at the same time. Dinner came out quickly but looking pitiful w/barely a full tablespoon of guac, tomatoes or sour cream. Cheap bastards! The flour part of the chimichanga was NOT CRISP, & I was given plastic utensils to maneuver this sad plate. I have eaten here MANY times as I live in the area so I am more than disappointed w/this experience. Not a single customer sitting in the middle @ the 4-tops & @ least 7 booths empty; on a Saturday night @ 8:00 pm. Los Comales on Madison was really good and hit the spot. I ordered two steak street tacos and they were seasoned just right, not dry at all. The meat was tender and had alot of flavor for something so simple. The tortillas were warm and fresh which made a big difference. I also had a strawberry margarita and it was sweet but still strong enough to enjoy. Everything came out pretty quick even though they were kinda busy. Update. We have been back three times since i left my original review. It has been disappointing..ImThe service was terrible. We were a group & really we should have had more than one server but we didn't. It took forever to get our food & my in laws never received theirs. The next time we went back it was with a just four friends & the-service still was bad. I'm starting to think because they add their tip they just don't care I had to get up twice to ask for things we needed. Drinks were not refilled. I wasn't asked if i wanted another beer. Its not the same the Horchata was the best in the entire state and now it is water down real simple not that rich taste one would get. Came for the Euro 2024 Finale, was super impressed with their margaritas and food. Quick, delicious and great value. Some critiques: the corn tortillas they make for the Gordita was fabulous, but the other corn tortillas they provide are kind of stale. The queso fundido is a cheese dip with chorizo whereas authentic queso fundido is very thick and served with fresh corn tortillas. Still, the food was delicious, the salsa was fresh and I'm a huge fan of their margaritas (tamarindo especially). The atmosphere is a mix of clientele, which is nice. I the Los Comales on Summer Ave but the one on Madison is nearer to me, so we go there sometimes. One of the reasons I don't like the one on Madison as well is b/c it is VERY noisy and hard to have conversations...even if you sit next to each other. Also, the menus are somewhat different. I think of the one on Madison as CA Mexican and the one on Summer as true Mexican w/some TX Mex, too. The quality of the food has ALWAYS been good on Summer but has slipped a few times at Madison. All that being said, the servers are very friendly and try hard to please and the food is really good, every time on Summer and usually on Madison. Since I only have one place to rate, I'd give the Summer Ave 5 stars and the Madison one 3.5-4.00. read more

Honestly I am not sure what happened around here (maybe the epidemic) but this place has gone from greatness to Mediocrity in just a few short years. This we do not take lightly, we can only say something like this after many months of second chances - we had to say something. First time here. I was downtown and since it was lunchtime I had a taste for a good taco. I ordered the marinaded pork tacos with all fixings on hard shell. The marinated pork with onions, cilantro, radish and limes on Mexican shell was delicious although not a fan of this particular shell. It was softer and my food kept falling out. I'm more of the standard hard shell type. The food came out hot and fast. The spicy guacamole mustard colored dipping sauce was excellent. The taste is amazing and if you love spicy this is highly recommended. I couldn't get enough of this and I'm not a big spicy fan. That big glass of tea helped cool my mouth down. The service was excellent, very attentive and friendly staff. The place is amazingly spacious and larger inside than it looked on the outside. Lots of seating and great for larger groups. Parking was on the side of the building between it and a thrift store which is my next stop. The 2 tacos were enough to fill me up but not stuffed. Stopped in the other evening and husband ordered a torta cubana and I ordered the carnitas. Food came out quickly, as usual. However, husband said the cubana didn't have any flavor although it looked delicious. Carnitas is supposed to be pork cubes. I was served shredded pork with a LOT of fat. I was not so impressed on the red one (but that's mainly because I like my salsas to be spicy). But my coworkers loved both. Now i must say it was really good, but super hot so if you don't like spicy food stay away. My husband and I enjoyed though, lol! For the entree, I had a sampler that included quesadillas, chicken rolls (I'm sure that's not the official name, buffalo wings. It was super good and plentiful. I even had enough to take home for later. My husband had the Mex Mix nachos. They were delicious! They had 3 types of meat (chicken, steak, and shrimp). He did order another bowl of queso just to make them super cheesy and they were even better. The prices were affordable and the food was decent, but I'm from Chicago and used to a more authentic Mexican food scene but it was good for what it was. The service was pretty bad.
