They scheduled me for today March 25th which is the only day off I have from work I might add (tuesdays), and I drove an hour and a half to get to my appointment only to be told again that they wouldnt see me simply because I didnt confirm my appointment verbally with them. I thought I confirmed my appointment when I called and was forcefully rescheduled for today? Even more infuriating is the fact that I literally called last thursday to confirm my appointment date with them which was another verbal confirmation that I provided. But because I didnt answer their call the day before (because I work a 10 hr shift at a call center) they cancel my appointment that Ive been waiting three weeks for? What is the purpose of even having an appointment if you're not going to honor it? Needless to say, I won't be wasting my time coming back if this is how they treat their patients. Absolutely the worst experience I have had with a dental office and its quite obvious they only care about lining their pockets with this type of practice because after sharing my experience several others I know had similar experiences with this company. Too bad too because I was prepared to drop a few grand on some badly needed dental implants but I absolutely will not be giving my hard earned money to people who are that inconsiderate. She gladly ran our insurance for us to determine the cost. Thank God my Blue Cross/Blue Shield was accepted. They ask you to allow 30-minutes prior to your appointment for completion of the paperwork and it took it. The paperwork was extensive but not unusual for the first visit to a medical visit. The building is well laid out and the address is easy to navigate to. The waiting room on our visit could have been a little larger since several people were waiting. The waiting room was equipped with a television and public bathroom, just outside the waiting room.

Brenda is probably the best hygienist I've ever been to. Personable and pleasant, thorough and knowledgeable - an all-around excellent hygienist. Dr. Settles is equally great. I cannot say enough good things about them or their treatment and skill level. The office staff, on the other hand, is abysmal. They routinely send out "bills" based on " insurance estimates", even after the participating insurance company has paid. Most recently I called to question a bill that both I and my insurance said was paid and that I owed nothing. This was the second time I received this bill and was now "past due." (Delta Dental told me it was paid within one week of my visit.) "Susan" initially took my call. Three different times I gave her my name and account number, and each time she tried linking me to a totally different patient. Finally, she transferred me to "Tina", the office manager. I have never been treated so rudely nor unprofessionally as Tina treated me. Tina first told me that the bill was automatically generated and there was nothing to be done about it. When I challenged her, she told me that was just the way it was and to ignore it. I pressed her by saying it needs to be fixed and that I did not want to end up in collections due to an automated erroneous "bill" (that is based on an estimate.) Again, Tina blew it off so I followed by saying that she knew there was error and wouldn't fix it, and that if I ended up in collections I reserved the right to sue for false billing; she/her office needed to fix this, that I was done dealing with it. Things went horribly sideways from that point on. Tina said she'd just "de-list" me and I'd never hear anything from them again. I replied by saying I had no intention of quitting the practice, only that I wanted the billing corrected. From that point onwards, Tina constantly over-talked me and wouldn't let me say anything. I tried telling her that I had already called Delta Dental, that Delta Dental told me I owed nothing, and that Wytheville Dental Group had been paid on June 21, 2023 for my June 14, 2023 office visit. I also kept trying to tell Tina that Delta Dental had provided a reference/event number. Tina kept over-talking me and wouldn't listen. I finally told her to "shut up and listen to me for just a minute." Tina then hung up the phone on me. I never got a chance to give her, nor anyone else, the reference number from Delta Dental. I tried calling back for the next fifteen minutes, but my calls were never answered. I can only presume Tina told the front desk to ignore my calls. I then reached out to Wytheville Dental Group via their Facebook page. Within an hour, someone named "Sherry" responded, saying she would call me "around 9 am" the following morning. Edited to add that Sherry is the overall practice manager. She called as promised, and was very professional and very apologetic, and she assured me that this issue will be addressed. The dentist is not my favorite place to go due to some bad experiences as a kid in a dental chair but Dr. Griffith made me feel extremely relaxed and really made sure I was comfortable throughout my entire procedure. I had explained I am a full time student, part time worker and have a family to take care of, but I guess that did not matter. My concerned mother called their office about this and she was treated terribly. The people on the phone even raised their voice at her for using the word "honey". This is unacceptable especially in what's supposed to be a friendly close knit community. I already have terrible anxiety about the dentist to begin with and this has just made it worse, honestly. If they will treat me like that before making it to the office, makes me wonder how they will treat me in the chair. I can't comment on the actual dental care, it could be good or it could be bad but, what I can comment on is their customer service and it is bad. I can not recommend this for a person who has a life outside that dental office or someone that has anxiety about the dentist.

I'm not much of a person to say anything but I do wanna share this…read more The last time I was at McCoy Dental, the girls would talk none stop, the girl working on my teeth got distracted and had put something on my teeth, and told me to spit it out but it was still everywhere in my mouth and on my teeth. The girl never came back, I got up and left. I never went back there either. They tell you things that aren't even true about your teeth. They are very unprofessional. This experience was a little better than my visit last year. The biggest and best thing that…read morehappened was: I did not have a massive abscess in my gum lining. I did, however, had several broken teeth and a few that were on the gum line. My surgery was in March and the prep work was fine and I understood what needed to be done from my end. The day of surgery went well. I was actually put under unlike last year when I was awake for about 90% of the procedure. Post op recovering was painful, as you can expect. I am the poor soul who cannot take any NSAID meds so the swelling caused a great deal of pain. I called the after hours hotline and was told to take an extra dose of pain meds sooner than when it was due. I informed the doctor that I was only given 10 pain pills and I am wanting to ration them since they are few and if I run out I do not feel comfortable in asking for more because I would then be labeled as a "seeker". His only other advice was for me to take IBU. I informed him that I cannot take them as I am highly allergic to it. He had nothing else to tell me to do for pain relief. So I, begrudgingly, took a dose that was an hr earlier than when it was due. Long story short: I went back to get my screws implanted in my posts and, I had no idea that this is what was going to happen until I got there, that he had to numb my gums and cut along the line of my gums to to get to my holes. Lets just say that no matter how many times he numbed my right side it would not take. My gum line was white from no circulation and when he cut on that side I screamed out and said: what the hell man??!! Why did you not do this while I was under sedation? All he did was laugh at what I said. I then said: I was not making a joke. Now that this is over, I am beyond thrilled that I no longer have to step foot back in this building. I had to take extra time off work to heal and they (not all mainly just the surgeons) need to work on their bedside manners. I will not recommend this place to anyone I know and I am glad that this part of my life is over.

I felt so calm and relaxed and recovery was a breeze. Everyone is professional and kind. They make you feel right at home.
