Flew down to Guadalajara specifically for this, so clearly I had main-character energy walking in. Turns out I was just an extra in an 11-hour field trip conducted mostly in Spanish. Love that for my sister and I. First of all...11 hours?? I've had relationships that lasted less time and were more fulfilling.Second, and this one hurt , it is NOT a round-trip train ride. I repeat: NOT. A. ROUND. TRIP. TRAIN. RIDE. I was emotionally prepared for a charming back-and-forth scenic moment. Instead, surprise logistics shuffle. Devastating. It would have been so fun making it a round trip train ride. Touring Jose Cuervo was cool in a "wow, history" way since it's the oldest tequila distillery in the world. That said... most of the tequila? Respectfully... not great. I tried. I really did. My face told the truth before I could. Tequila (the town) is adorable. Truly cute. But three hours to wander around is excessive unless you're aggressively souvenir shopping or hiding in the shade contemplating life choices. Then there's a cheesy show at the end that feels like it was sponsored by "Mandatory Fun." The food wasn't great on the train either. Overall: one and done. Next time I'd skip the marathon tour and book a private experience at smaller local distilleries. Shorter, better tequila, less heat-induced regret. Did I have fun? Yes. Would I do it again? Absolutely not read more
Do you want to get drunk at 9am, keep the buzz going through many different venues until sundown, and still feel kind of classy? Then this is the experience for you. 10/5 stars if I could. First, the train ride from Guadalajara to Tequila was out of this world. The waiters would not let me have an empty tequila glass and half the time it was full of top shelf drink. Additionally, the cocktails were amazing. I was able to have one of each and they all surpassed the best tequila cocktails I've had in the States. The food portions were small but pretty tasty. Our chaperone for the day was super fun and informative everywhere we went. Starting in the train, she guided us through a tasting of multiple bottles of tequila that utilized all five senses. In tequila, the first thing we did was tour the Jose Cuervo distillery and museum. Again our chaperone guided us through everything from the clothing in the museum, to the chemical process behind the distillery. Again very informative and fun. After the tour, there were so many shops and restaurants and sources of entertainment I could have spent a whole weekend in the town of Tequila but our chaperone suggested some of the best for the few hours we had. I suggest you not buy anything until you're walked around for at least 20 min because the first stands you approach are the busiest and most expensive. We found a BBQ buffet for lunch with the couple we sat across from in the train and got a much needed lunch. I also filled my backpack up with souvenirs and had a couple more drinks at this point. After lunch there was an organized mariachi performance in the shade (shade was critical at this point in the early summer afternoon). The chaperones from the train walked around the amphitheater passing out more margaritas and water. There were many hungover faces at this point but I was still having an awesome time. We then went by bus to an agave field. More margaritas welcomed us here for a demonstration of the harvesting of agave. This was followed by an open bar, food stands including corn and churros, and music and dancing. Finally, the bus ride back to Guadalajara was quiet and peaceful. I had become good enough friends with our chaperone that I had more access to tequila shots on this trip too while most everyone else was sleeping. This was definitely an unforgettable experience at a great price point. The Jose Cuervo Express is a must do for anyone who likes tequila and culture. read more

Don't waste your money on this. Book an airbnb tour to a smaller distillery. The open bar is just palomas and vampiras. You only get to taste one of the tequilas, not the entire catalog, so there is no actual tasting. The snacks on the train? Plain popcorn and soggy taquitos. But here is another sugary margarita while you wait. The distillery tour itself is very rushed. On our day, they got backed up with cycling people through, so there wasn't any time to talk, ask questions, or learn. We went to Cava de Oro the day before, and it was an amazing experience. And the bus is from the 80s. And they take photos of your credit cards and IDs with an iPhone so if you are worried about your personal security, take that into consideration. read more

No vale la pena. read more

The best tour!!!! This tour is worth it! When you get to the train station they have pan dulce, fruit and coffee for you as you wait for your wagon to board. I recommend getting the wagon with tables, it's a great experience. It's open bar during the whole train ride, and you get a lesson on tequila tasting. They also serve your table a nice tray of appetizers to include guacamole, nopales, cochinita pibil, mole, and beans along with tostadas. The scenic ride is very nice, and as you get closer to the town of Tequila you will disembark and finish the trip to town on a bus. There's a great tour of the Jose Cuervo distillery, which is amazing and informative. You then get 3 hours to yourself to explore the stores, sites, and have lunch. There's a ballet folklorico and mariachi show before you board the bus as well, and it's a great show - it also includes margaritas. Another stop on the way back is the agave fields, where you can take pictures and learn about the harvesting process. Open bar again with music and dancing under the patio. On the bus ride back you can play loteria with the guide, and you get a little mesh souvenir bag with some bread, an apple and chips. You get personal earbuds to watch a movie or concert on your own personal entertainment screen. It's an all day experience and was a true highlight of our trip to Guadalajara! read more

I would not recommend taking this tour. After purchasing tickets online I received an email saying that I have to provide a two-sided copy of my ID and Credit Card when registering on the day. Showing the originals was not enough, but is also required. This was confirmed by return email. There is no legitimate reason to ask for copies, and is not information you should hand over to some random person, especially in paper form and even if you can redact the CCV "for your safety." This is a new requirement put in place recently, so I would suggest people go on other similar tours until they revert to a better registration process that takes the safety of your personal information seriously. read more

The tour was pretty fun. We took the bus in the morning and came back in the evening. I would recommend doing this if you plan on drinking. The bartender who took care of me during the first part of the tour is the primary reason they are receiving a 4 star rating. Javier was extremely attentive not only to meI but the whole group. Very hard worker for sure and I appreciated that the whole time even after he was no longer with us. The tour itself was informative and the tequila town was nice. The train ride back was pretty fun as well. read more

I really wanted to give them five stars, but they ruined it at the end. We purchased five first class experience tickets. The checkin and boarding was amazing. They have complimentary coffee and pastries at the train station which was a nice surprise and wonderful for a family like mine as we are always early. They board the train in groups and in an organized order. Our seats were super comfortable, and the service is amazing. They give you a fruit, granola, yogurt dish and breakfast torta on your drive there. You have amazing views as you drive from Guadalajara to Tequila. Of course, they are constantly serving tequila on the train, and there is a full open bar to walk to as well. Arrival is nice, and the tour is nice. Nothing amazing as the tour guide was a bit lost, and his English was subpar - especially since they pride themselves on having an exclusive English tour. The worst begins when the tour is over. The guide told us to meet him at a certain time in a certain place. He was not there. Our group was and I volunteered to go hunt. I never found our guide but we found others with the same spanish group and was told that we don't have to meet but we were supposed to see a show. We missed most of the show because we were looking for our guide. Then the girl I found that was guiding me to see the show and then meet her, disappears. She had told me to walk up the hill to the busses. We did. She never came. I walked back down and found her chatting with her coworkers. Once she saw me she said "glad you came back. we have to go the other way". So I had to hike up the hill and tell the group to come back down. She never ONCE apologized. I started to get impatient with her, so I started trusting her less and verifying more. Which bus, what color is the bus, what time does it arrive....and she was not pleased with my questions. She told the group that the bus was 10 mins away and anyone that had to use the bathroom had to go now. So the group dispersed as some went to the restrooms. As soon as they left, she started yelling "get on the bus now, the bus will leave in 5 mins". This was the same bus that was standing there the entire time and she said our bus was 10 mins away!!!! Boy, did she upset the remaining guests. We all decided to get on the bus and hold seats for those that went to use the facilities. The bus ride back was comfortable, but once we arrived at the station, she asked everyone to get off the bus. I asked her to turn on the lights so we can gather our belongings, she said no she cannot. Everyone got off the bus but I was still trying to find my belongings in the dark. She started to move the bus while I was still on it. I jumped off. And because of her rushing and refusal to turn on lights, my husband's sunglasses got left on the bus. No matter how many times the hotel or myself called and emailed, this company refused to help. It is sad that such a nice day had to end so negatively. But I cannot support a disorganized and dishonest company. read more
