Excellent meat market! I don't frequent it as much as I'd like only because it's not in my loop. But when I need lamb or something special I make the drive. It's well worth it! I needed a lamb shoulder cut special to fit the whole thing on one giant skewer for Greek Antikristo bbq. I can do it but it's way easier for them to clip the spine on the saw. Nate picked me out one super fat marbled looking shoulder and was happy to work with me on what I needed. He was so helpful, professional, and knowledgeable I thought he may have been an owner. The clincher was that he asked me what I was going to do with it to better help me. I also purchased some chicken thighs. You can taste the difference in their chicken. Even the texture stands out. At the end of my purchase Nate thanked me for my business, looked me in the eye, and gave me a man's handshake. That's how it should be. I don't even get that when I buy a friggen car! The store is immaculate. Clean. Not cluttered with to many products. Just what you need. I stuffed the shoulder with smashed salted garlic cloves. Can't wait to cook it up on a wood fire tomorrow. Btw! You don't have to be ethnic or Arabic to buy halal. It's damn good meat! Everyone is warmly welcomed. Especially with personable genuine service like you get at jouni meat. read more

I frequently buy meat and chicken from Jouni. I love that I can call ahead and order everything I want. They usually prepare my order quickly after ordering. Major disappointment. Came here on a weekday night looking to make a quick meal involving chicken breast. I like supporting halal establishments and go out of my way for them. I drove in rush hour traffic to get here through the nasty orchard lake construction. Asked for, word for word, '2lbs of chicken breast.' There were 3 guys behind the counter. Guy #1 asked me how do I want it. Uhm, just the breast? Then proceeded to ask me deboned, big or small breasts, and took forever asking me about 5 other questions. When I say I just want chicken breast assume I mean 'as Is'. If I wanted it with bones (which if you buy breasts from anywhere else they don't normally come with) I would have specified. I appreciate the extra clarification(+.5star) but I was really tired of sitting in traffic all day to deal with the excess questions. Finally I get to the register, and it's guy #3. There was no communication between guy #1 and #3 about my order. Guy #3 says its 3lbs and if it's alright. Okay, wait. You didn't even talk to guy #1, how do you know it's 3lbs? I asked for 2lbs! When I brought it up he said he can send it back and cut it off. Remember, at this point I'm super tired and just want to go home. I tell him it's fine and he rings me up for 3lbs. I used my 10% off for checking in. The check out process is seamless. (+.5star) However, when I get home to weigh it. It's not 3lbs. No where NEAR 3lbs. You guys have scales in the shop, why not charge me the right amount? Why did the cashier have to argue with me instead of just checking it on the scale?? NOT returning to this location. These guys are fantastic. We've been shopping there occasionally for about 2 years. We go there primarily for goat - rack of chops, leg of, or shoulder of. However, they often have very nice New York strip and Ribeye that's properly marbled, and prices can't be beat in any of the local Kroger type of stores. The goat is basically like a more tender, more flavorful version of lamb - I highly recommend it. The personalities in the store couldn't be better. They really value their customers, are highly personable and approachable if you have questions. As a native USA person three generations deep, I have silly questions in stores like this that carry more "ethnic" cuts of meat, and they're happy to answer. A+ for these guys! read more

Mom went to purchase meet here after a recommendation by a family friend. She asked to buy baby goat meat- they sold it to her for $9.99 a pound. We cooked it and it was definitely not goat meat... They sold us baby lamb for the price of baby goat.. Unfortunate and we will not be returning because that's a bad look for business. Updated review after my online order experience. Ordered chicken and goat online. I pick up and came home. When I tried to use the chicken I felt it was weighing less than I ordered. I don't have a kitchen scale. Whole Chicken is charged for 3 lbs. Even the skin is taken off it won't be much less in wait. Reason why I am confident, that the weight is less, because I didn't find the wings. Earlier when I ordered in store and got I had noticed all parts were present. As wings it was clearly known, but don't know what else missing this time. May be part of breast, thigh might also be missing. Check the weight before getting delivery. read more

But recently I have experienced rude behavior of the counter salesman Nadir, and despite requests for less bones, they have been loading up with more bones than meat. WOW!! HORRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE!! Ed said when I need pure goat meat (for my allergic) to call the day before. I noticed about 7:20pm he was having a bad reaction, so needed goat for him badly, wanted to call before they closed at 7:30pm. I felt bad calling so late but had to try. My 1st call went unanswered so tried one more time. A very angry male answered and yelled "WE ARE CLOSED, THAT IS WHY WE ARE NOT ANSWERING!!
