Once you've had a sandwich here, you'll never step foot in a Subway ever again. That's a promise. We like to add a bag of Great Lakes potato chips to our pile of goodies, specifically the Parmesan Ranch flavor (soooo good!) They carry a wide range of local and Michigan-made products, including Great Harvest Bread Company's delicacies and Grand Traverse Pie Company's pies. DO NOT leave without a bottle of Dearborn honey mustard, Srodek's pierogies, Pop Daddy pretzels & popcorn, and some freshly-made sausages and brats. Any meats you're looking for, they've got it. This is a pure local butcher hangout in Milford. The store is off the main drag of downtown. The deli sandwich is great (build your own) and was the best thing about watching the last Lions game . Too big for their britches. I have been coming here for over 20 years to get Meat. Yes, back when it was a little country town and a small little butcher. We called days ago to reserve an 8 lb. prime rib roast. And we were told that it wasn't necessary to reserve, that they had plenty. Then when my wife drives out to pick it up, they tell us they are sold out and there's nothing they can do about it. This is the worst customer service I have ever seen in this place. The manager, Jimmy wouldn't even get on the phone or even try to make it right. I'm glad times are good enough for you now that you can afford to loose a long time loyal customer. I ordered a turkey club on wheat, it was delicious! The meat was piled high, and loaded with tomato, onion, lettuce , cheese and banana peppers. I've been going to village 8 years now for their Italian sausage. I have a huge garden that produces bushels of tomatoes, peppers and eggplant every year. I will only use their meat to put into my sauce. After growing and working months on my specialty vegetables that I grow from seed, the meat at Village is the only meat I trust now to be consistently Excellent! I've also been able to find beef heart here for my authentic Coney sauce when I make a big batch for parties. Everyone loves it!!! I used to only go for these things I couldn't do without. Then I bonked myself in the head and thought, WHY AM I NOT GOING HERE ALL THE TIME??!!! After ATROCIOUS service at any chain grocery store for the past 2 years since the pandemic and subpar service prior, I thought , what the hell am I doing? Going to Village makes me Happy! It's easy! I've never bought anything that wasn't superior in quality. The employees are falling over each other to help the customers. I don't have to self check out with a bunch of groceries. WIN WIN!!! I've decided to change my shopping habits and buy stuff I actually enjoy and enjoy spending my hard earned money . It's worth making separate trips for our family. From now on we're buying ALL our meat and deli here. They even have macaroni with cheddar salad that u can't find anywhere anymore and it's fresh. I know because my first job at 15 was in a deli. The younger male person behind the counter was rude. I've been served there several times before without having to wear a mask because of my medical condition. I've taken both Covid injections I had tested negative at the VA hospital only three hours earlier from coming into the store. I don't think he was even in charge but acted like he was and he told me to get out of the store because that's their policy. I have lived in Milford for 2 years and never stopped at the Village Butcher until a couple months ago. I had heard their sandwiches, soups, and meats were fresh, high quality and tasty. Well, I finally tried one of their soup and half sandwich combos and it was very good. Since then I have purchased on several occasions their deli meats, potato salad, spinach and artichoke dip (highly recommend!), stuffed chicken breasts, and marinated chicken breasts. Phenomenal support and service from all who work there. A wonderful selection of meat, poultry and seafood. Much higher quality than what you will find at your local Kroger store. Back in 2007 my best friend built a house out near Milford. The Village Butcher has been feeding our weekend dinners ever since. We've tried almost everything at one point, and I love their in house smoked Hunger Sausage and Jerky. The signature item in my opinion is the pork kabobs. They are marinated in a sweet bbq, on a stick with no veggies. Meat on a stick! Place just puts out dame fine products, and carries bother small and large scale brands, and my all to favorite collection of Great Harvest Bread Company goods. Pepperoni bread is the best warmed up. I have tried the Village butcher many times, and every time the meat smells like it is spoiled. Now I know that the meat I'm purchasing isn't spoiled, but whatever is going on in the back is obviously disgusting. I recently smoked 2 racks of ribs and 6 chicken quarters that smelled suspect after purchase. I chalked it up to being "raw meat smell". Upon cooking, it was obvious that the meat itself had been subject to some unsafe food practices. This has happened twice. Buyer beware. I live in Milford village and love to support local businesses, but I can't sign off on this one...it's a shame. read more

Village Butcher could give a lot of New York delis a run for their money too. Top notch venison hunter sausages, kielbasa, and an excellent selection of gourmet food. Hands down the best butcher around! They have a great but standard butcher's section but will custom order virtually anything you want with a week's notice. Their sausages at fantastic, especially the hot hunters sticks. And they make a mean deli sandwich to boot, enough to get a lunch and dinner out of it. By far my favorite place in Milford. Service is almost too good here. They bend over backwards for the smallest request. What I like most is I can walk in and walk out with everything I need to make dinner. They even have a good beer and wine selection; not huge but well thought out. Normally, I would say, "What's there to say about a butcher shop? It's where you go to get meat for the barbecue!" But the Village Butcher Shoppe experience is anything but ordinary. You are greeted with a smile and a hello as soon as you walk through the door. There is a wonderful aroma of freshly cooked sausage samples and/or bread pieces with different dips. All of the staff are incredibly helpful and happy in their work. Jerry, in particular, always knows us by name and exchanges some friendly banter with us and a few laughs. We were so impressed by him that we assumed he was the owner. Every employee treats their job as though it is their own establishment. And the meat is incredible! Some of our favorites are the thick cut pork chops rolled in their signature rub, the pork loin with dry rub and many of the delicious sausages! There is one in particular that comes in a pack of 10, I think, and they are already cooked so they're perfect if you're in a hurry and need a healthy, protein snack. They also have a variety of snack foods, canned and jarred foods and fresh salsas, cheeses, etc. They have the best deal in town if you just want to get a sandwich and some soup or salad! You can choose your bread and they pile it high with whatever kind of meats, cheeses, veggies and sauces you want! You can add a homemade soup for about a dollar and they have good prices for coleslaw, macaroni salad, spinach dip, etc. So, bring your picnic basket, load it up and head on out to the Milford Central Park! Our town is great in that the businesses all seem to support one another. The rivers edge brewery, for instance, buys their meat from the butcher for their sandwiches and they also regularly have other businesses come in and take over their kitchen for a day.
