Travel agents have to get their commission somehow and it ain't by putting you in cheap hotels. This is a situation where I found that the service offered isn't a service I care to use BUT the service itself is really good! Debbie was a real champ (except for the one time she snapped at me when I complained that the hotels in London were expensive). She worked diligently to find us the best itinerary and nice places to stay. A personal crisis of hers took her out of the office right at the end of our planning, but she still made up a nice folio of documents and took the time to meticulously label and number everything. Someone else in the office explained all the documents to me in an easy and concise manner so that even when I was jet lagged as all get out, on the other side of the Atlantic and speaking a non-native language, I knew what I was doing. Every hotel they put us in was great. Something did go wrong with one booking and Crossroads fixed it, we didn't have to worry ourselves about it at all. Those were definitely perks! Use Crossroads Travel if: -You want to go on a trip, but aren't sure what your options are or what your plans should be. -You're uncomfortable booking a hotel in a foreign country where you don't speak the language. -You have special needs when traveling and want to make sure they'll be accommodated. -You want to make sure you have recourse if something goes wrong on your trip. -You don't have time to plan a trip and need someone else to do it for you. -You're uneasy about traveling or booking your own travel and want someone else to hold your hand a little or book it for you. The people at Crossroads were very professional and I felt they were capable. I don't think a travel agent is for me so I won't be back, but I definitely recommend them to anybody who feels a travel agent would be useful.

I was given websites to go to, and pretty well told to "go away" by the apathetic attitude given by this person. The second star is because she was friendly. We booked a trip to Italy with Suzanne Pitt, I'm pretty sure she mainly books cruises which she should honestly just stick too. $20k for a 12 day trip to Italy including hotel and tours. The first two hotel rooms she booked were basically hostels and the first one was in such an unsafe area with a collapsable shower, that we ended up paying for another room at a different establishment that was in the desired location we specified. We requested 4-5 star accommodations and as much as we paid we certainly did not receive that level. Two of the tours she booked for us cancelled and when her company provided the receipt for refund, it was $1100 less than what i found the tour cost when I googled. I asked for an itemized receipt so i could see what each juncture of the trip cost, and she refused to supply it. 0 transparency and less than 0 customer service. When we emailed her with pictures of the first hotel and "Tuscan Thermal Spa Experience", which was in an old, dilapidated part of downtown (basically a glorified YMCA with curtains for doors in the locker room, she actually responded "well, if you think you are not going to have a good time, then you won't. Its mind over matter". Not only is she a terrible agent, she has absolutely no empathy. And this was a trip to celebrate our 20th wedding anniversary. She also refused to supply the company name that she works for; it's all very shrouded in secrecy and shady. I did some digging and finally found it so I did file a report with BBB, but under no circumstances should you book with this person. She talks a very good game and really came off as very knowledgeable during our consult call, but I have a feeling she did very little research and just basically booked hotels and tour companies that were listed on her companys preferred vendor list, and those that paid the most commission. Totally in it for money and points and could care less about the clients needs.

Gretchen made us an itinerary printed everything had it all in order with the exact airline seats, class of tickets/seats and followed any airline changes. She collected all the tickets for tours and any tickets we needed printed them and mailed them in a packet to us. She followed our trip via email to make sure we had everything, and things were going as planned. She made sure we had travel insurance and a checklist of everything we needed to take care of for international travel. She is very well educated and prepared.
