Kat was such an incredible coordinator. We were one of those couples whose wedding date landed in the COVID lockdown. We found Kat before the lockdown at a bridal expo and immediately hit it off. She was so easy to talk to and personable. It was important to us to like our coordinator and she fit the bill! We hired her right away as a day-of coordinator and shortly after, the pandemic hit us. We had to postpone our wedding date for THREE YEARS. She honored her original price and stuck with us the whole time. When it came time to start planning again she was right there ready to go. She encouraged us to reach out to her about any questions we had about any aspect of the wedding. She was available via email, text, phone call, you name it. Planning a wedding is like a small infinity of work. Each task seems to generate three or four more tasks. But Kat was there with answers and options to help us navigate the whole experience. She provided so much help and assurance while planning. By the time the day had arrived she had developed a very detailed timeline with a plan for everything and a contingency plan for every plan. It was certain that nothing would go wrong, and nothing did. Not a single thing was missed. On the day of, I could swear there were twenty copies of her and she'd been working since 5am. Of course that wasn't true but her efficiency and attention to detail was so great that it seemed so. She came with two assistants and so while she was busy managing me and the bride, and both our wedding parties, and our parents, she was also managing her team. Her and her team did our centerpieces, she made sure we (two wedding parties, bride and groom, parents) were in the right place at the right time, knew where we were going next and what was going to happen, and that nothing was missing. She also made sure we had coffee, water, food, beer, whatever. All my wife and I had to worry about was how to say our vows through all the happy tears. My wife and I first met Katherine at a wedding event at the San Diego Convention Center. We came across her booth while browsing and started talking to her about our upcoming wedding. I have attended several weddings as a guest, not planned by KDV. I would show up at the designated time and just enjoy the event like everyone else. Most of the time the event goes smoothly, everyone doing what they were supposed to, or at least I think that's what they're supposed to do. Ocassionally there would be a delay or confusion among the vendors as to when they should do this and that, but in the end they get it done. I think to myself, planning a wedding is easy, right? Just have people do this and do that at this time and that time. ? WRONG. Last year, I had the honor of being a groomsman at a wedding hosted by Katherine and her fiance-at-the-time, Irfan. It was a moderately medium size wedding held in a community center with the ceremony and reception taking place right after one another. I had learned that there is so much work in being part of the wedding party. We were so occupied with taking care of ourselves and doing our part that we didnt have time for anything else. I am so glad, and probably the groom and bride too, that we had KDV coordinating everything. They contacted and directed all the vendors, the aficionado, the wedding party, and the community center manager to make this all possible. We recently worked a wedding with Joyous Weddings & Events by KDV which was coordinated by their main assistant JR the day of. The wedding was for the owners of KDV and she had placed her assistant as the lead event coordinator for her own wedding and unfortunately what ended up happening was a nightmare for us as vendors. Katherine let us know previously that JR had no experience coordinating a wedding by himself, and it was highlighted this night. Typically, KDV is a team of 3 working a wedding, and at this one, only JR was there, which led to much confusion the entire day. JR was in charge of assisting us with some last minute details the bride had requested,which were not part of our contract, but we obliged because we really do hope to make every wedding run smoothly. However, when we got to the venue he was no where to be found and we ended up spending most of our time getting things organized for their special day. As caterers, our number one priority is food quality and making sure our food is delicious. However, due to JR inability to get everything done on time, we attempted to do most of the last minute work that every wedding coordinator does, i.e.: make sure the table is set up with the proper table settings, take away any extra stem ware, tidy up the tables and chairs,light candles, etc. The tables still needed work on getting fully decorated and we assisted with this alongside pouring water and setting flatware- usually things left to the rental company and coordinator. We did not mind putting in the extra effort and we were happy to hear the guests enjoyed the food. When it came to bussing the tables for glassware, which was not in our contract to do, we did so, even though Katherine had mentioned this was JR responsibility. He was also going to assist in other duties but we told him we would handle it because he looked so frazzled the entire night. Joyous Events also forgot to bring the coffee bar necessities that they wanted, so we brewed 50 cups of coffee that went down the drain, per JR's request because he mentioned nobody was going to drink coffee black. JR was running around the venue with his head cut off the entire night and had little insight as to what needed to be done for the night. This in turn led to a wedding that looked completely disorganized and unthoughtful. Before we left, we cheated in with both JR and the bride to make sure we were good to go, they both thanked us and said we had done a great job. Later, Katherine emails me a list of tiny details she was not happy with, of which 80% were JR responsibilities and duties. We think that Joyous Events could have done a much better job at having more than just a part time assistant coordinate their special day. If this is the type of professionalism at their own wedding,we definitely would not choose Joyous Weddings and Events to coordinate other weddings. We hope Joyous Weddings takes this constructive criticism in mind and that they put more effort into future wedding coordination. read more

Katherine and the Joyous Wedding and Events by KDV staff did a great job with planning my wedding. I knew that I was going to need help planning an wedding for 280 people, so I am blessed to have found Katherine and JR at the Bridal Bazaar. Katherine helped me to stay on track, plan ahead and thought of every little detail that I would need on the day of my wedding. Katherine did an awesome job coordinating with my vendors and kept in contact with the Catering company and the office staff at the wedding venue. I had a few hiccups with a couple of my vendors and Katherine was there to help me out each time. Anyone else would have gone Bridezilla when their makeup artist gave notice the day before the wedding that they couldn't make it to your wedding the following day or when your Flowers (bouquets & boutonnières) don't show up in time for the ceremony. No not me, I had Katherine. She handled anything that came up, quickly and professionally. (i.e. I had a makeup trial appointment with a new makeup artist within 2 hours and she was available to do my makeup on my wedding day (the following day!). AND I'm not sure how but Katherine got my flowers delivered to me just in time to take pictures). Katherine and JR made my wedding planning a whole lot less stressful. My wife and I started planning our wedding thinking we could handle everything ourselves. For the most part, we got the main items of our list down. Venues, food.. etc. When it finally came to it, the closer we go to our wedding, we now knew we needed help making sure everything goes according to plan DURING the wedding. My wife, fiance at the time, had emailed Joyous to inquire about services provided. We eventually scheduled a face-to-face with Katherine. She's down to Earth and easy to talk to and definitely knows what she's doing. After getting to know each other, we went on to business matters and she had all the right questions to make sure we were all on the same page about what we had and what was still needed. Fast forward a little bit, now, to the rehearsal dinner. My wife and I had a basic idea of how we wanted to do things in regards to walking order of our bridal party, but definitely did not know how to go about planning it. Katherine then took the lead and got everyone to their starting positions all the way to their ending positions. Exactly what we needed. Fast forward some more to our wedding day. Our ceremony and our reception were held at two different locations, so she had already informed us that she'd have some assistants: Ifran and JR. They were to help set up at the reception while Katherine goes with us to the ceremony to make sure everything goes smoothly. It did. Now onto the reception, my wife and I got to have a sneak peek of how Ifran and JR set up everything and it was perfect. They did an excellent job. I am a graphic designer, so I took it upon myself to design most of the graphic elements of the centerpiece and giveaways. So, I was happy to see how the final product of my work and the centerpieces were laid out together. The night went off without any big issues and Katherine and her team did a wonderful job. I'd totally recommend Joyous for any events. Actually, we did! Some friends of ours have already booked Joyous for their wedding in a few months and I am excited to see how everything goes. To say that kat and her awesome team of irfan and Jr are incredible is an understatement. They went above and beyond my wife's and my expectations in planning our wedding. My wife, albeit beautiful, is nitpicky about the most minute details in everything she does. Kat and her team were so patient with her and myself as well. From the flower displays on the tables at the reception to the selection of music played at the reception, kat asked us questions as to what we wanted so no pertinent details were not left discussed. As you can see from the other reviews, everyone seems to agree with me. The lone one that talks about how she did her job catering at Kat's wedding doesn't seem to know what she is talking about.
