There are some very old antiques inside the mansion and most of the mansion is all original. All of the rooms were pretty large and had high ceilings about 10 ft. There are beautiful gardens out side and around the building. This mansion is located downtown Knoxville and the courthouse is right down the street. It was very cool to see how they lived way back then with no electric. They had candlelight chandeliers and wood burning stove. All their equipment they used to make their clothes and their food was all original as far as I know. There was 3 or 4 outside buildings as well that was used for their equipment and their work.

I get that this museum is to preserve history we all understand this concept. But what I don't get is that more than half of the Native American artifacts in this section was removed by Tribes because it was viewed "incorrectly." Instead of having a Tribe member being in the museum to inform people they just removed the artifacts entirely from public eye. How I would do it, inform and educate rather than take down things. Just very odd to me. The bottom half of the museum (after you walk down the stairs) is interesting although the theory that we came from "apes" is uh... A different topic. It's a nice sized museum, very clean, quiet and people are respectfully when going into each section. P.S, if a Baseball game is nearby and they charge for parking let them know that you're visiting the museum not the game so you can get in to park. If not, you'll get charged $20 to park for free. It's far better than the Knoxville Museum of Art, now that's a different story to tell.

There are many artifacts and photos to look at. They also keep obituaries of every African American from Knoxville. Cool thing to know if you are trying to look up your family history. I also want to make special note that they have a nice event space. I'm not sure if they rent it out but if I was looking for a place I would check it out.

It was known at that time as the finest home in Tennessee. The structure is significant for its original interior and exterior architectural features and its period decorative art collection. The home is said to be haunted, and I feel quite drawn to it, and did feel a presence, will have to keep coming back. It sat empty for many years, and was refurbished in 1952. The Association for the Preservation of Tennessee Antiquities took it over. It is a historic treasure, you step back in time. They have great events all year long. Love the free vintage baseball games in the summer where they dress up all old timey and play without gloves. Also love the Christmas marketplace and spring marketplace to shop local with a great variety of vendors. A very simple sentence that conveyed a lot of rights to half of the citizens of our country. Once Congress approves a Constitutional Amendment, it must be ratified by a percentage of States. At that time, it needed to be at least 36 to reach the requirement. Thirty-five other states ratified the Amendment before Tennessee did. It took them a year and much debate before a tie vote in the state house of representatives was broken by a single vote. Looking back now, you really have to wonder about Tennessee's elected representatives! We ended up going on a Friday night and had a total blast. Ace was our guide, and she was super fun and knowledgeable. She had an engaging way of telling us about the beer-making process, and I learned some cool stuff. Fluffy was our driver/pourer, and transported us around safely; it was so great to get a little drunk and not have to worry about transportation. I liked that the tour is built around the interests of the people on it, which means every tour is a little bit different. There were plenty of snacks on board, and I definitely appreciated the endless supply of water. The only thing I wish is that we could have had a little more time at each brewery, as it felt like we were rushing from spot to spot. One thing that's really great about this tour is that it gives a bit of a taste of lots of different kinds of beers, beginning with mild and easy ones and working up to darker or more experimental beer. I even found a few new favorites! I'd highly recommend this tour to anyone who loves beer or who isn't so sure but is interested in trying out what Knoxville has to offer!
