Just finished having breakfast it went under new ownership. First of all the service was Excellent! We had a group of four. Our orders were taken, and the food was out very quickly. The food looked and tasted delicious! The portions were very large!! Our server frequently asked if we needed anything. First time there. Had sausage gravy and biscuits. Others with me had a variety of types of breakfasts that looked yummy. The gravy was fantastic and plentiful!! However the biscuits I had seemed under cooked as the middle was doughy instead of flaky. I will go back to try some other menu items. The service was very good and prices were normal. I enjoy dining at this little breakfast/lunch spot. I have only ever had breakfast here and it was delightful. The omelettes are a good size and I enjoy the home fries that accompany them. Food is made to order, fresh, filling, and tasty. The original owner sold the restaurant but she still works there and she is a sweetheart. The new owner is very nice as well. My grandpa Joe is pretty well known around these parts and comes here a lot after his morning beach walks and donating platelets. I started coming with him when I visit and I have never had a bad experience. They greet him by name, treat us so kindly, the food is fast, and most importantly DELICIOUS. I always get the gyro scrambler and it's perfection ever. Single. time. I usually don't eat a whole lot for breakfast but I clean the plate without fail. I went with the Gyro and my wife had the steak and cheese pita. her steak and cheese needed seasoning. my gyro was a pita with far too much tzatziki sauce. the contents of the gyro were slipping out of the sandwich due to the amount of sauce, the taste was lost in the sauce. I highly recommend this gem of a restaurant. We were welcomed with a warm greeting and treated like family. Service was superb. The gyro was delicious, with a soft pita and the perfect ratio of flavorful meat, vegetables and sauce . My brother-in-law was appreciative of every dish being served at the right temperature. Exceptional Exceptional food, exceptional value. That's how I started a review a few years ago on another website for a restaurant called Alma's Kouzine. The previous owners of Alma's have just opened a new place in Venice and exceptional food, exceptional value could not be more true. We stopped in for lunch and were delighted to see they offered essentially the same menu as they did at Alma's. It took no time at all for me to decide what I wanted, a crepe named the French Quarter. It is a sausage and cheese crepe with a meat sauce that I have enjoyed several times at the old restaurant. Boy was it good today. The restaurant is spacious with a pleasant look. I've always thought of their restaurant as French because I love their crepes so much, but it is Mediterranean. I'm still sticking with their crepes, and we will definitely be returning. They are very nice people and when they recognized us it was like old friends who have not seen each other for a while. Our service was perfectly timed and it took less than 10 minutes for our food to arrive. I should mention there is still an Alma's Kouzine in Sarasota which we have recently visited and still serves up some very good crepes. But today it was a true joy to visit Joy's for the first time. read more

Ever since Alma and her family left it's not the same and that includes the food! I'm talking about the Spinach Feast and Gyros.
