    Seafood platter
    Diane W.

Total lucky find via Yelp as we were down the road and on our way home. Dined here in a Sunday night; parking lot packed and everything else closed. Warm and inviting dining rooms ( three). Big menu, and all our choices provided us with exceptional food: the three dip special ( we had hummus, eggplant and torokafteri) with yummy pita; the chicken lemon soup was excellent; my spanakopita was light, crispy and fantastic, as was the accompanying side of Greek salad which had a delicious dressing. My husband ordered the seafood platter, and everything was well prepared, tasty and also light. We ordered some wine, an imiglykos, which was sweet and good. The table next to us ordered beer salad, lamb shank, and gyro platters which all looked mouth watering. Djonisi was an excellent server, very personable. The customers at the next table told us they were present when the restaurant opened two years ago, and that they moved out of the area, but to give this restaurant our business. This is definitely going to be our go to Greek restaurant from now on, and it should be yours too. (Also, ladies room had two large and very clean stalls).

Beautiful, clean restaurant, homemade scratch meal. There is a restaurant in the same shopping plaza as Djonisi's that we had planned to go to but the line was out the door. I had heard Djonisi's is really good so we gave it a try. We were seated right away. Everyone loved and finished their meal. We started with the 3 dip appetizer. The pita was probably the best I've ever had - hot and fresh. I had the Handcrafted Spanakopita that comes with a little Greek Salad on the side. One person had Bifteki (a mix of ground beef & pork with feta cheese) which she enjoyed. She said the side of rice didn't have much flavor but enjoyed the meat and potatoes. One had the schnitzel and she thought the gravy was very flavorful and liked the fries too. Would highly recommend and will definitely be back.

Came here to try the food and I was glad I did. The inside was will decorated and me feel like I was in Greece. The service was good and friendly. The lunch gyro was great and they gave me a great portion of meat. I definitely will come with my friends next time .

Clean, very nicely decorated, friendly service! The Greek salad with gyro meat wonderful. It came with homemade bread as well. Plenty of fresh vegetables, not just lettuce. Large chunks of tomatoes and the gyro meat is very tender and tasty. A generously sized portion.

If I can give this place zero stars, I would my wife and I go out to eat at least once a week most of the time twice I have to say this is the worst place. I've been that I can remember. We arrive for dinner at 7:50 PM because you said it closed at nine when we walked in the door. The gentleman said you can see anywhere but we close at 8:30 it was a Friday night and there was one other table there I ordered the octopus and my wife ordered the lemony soup The octopus was slimy and it was served with this white sauce, which tasted like mayonnaise My wife soup had no lemony flavor. In fact it was white. She proceeded to order the special and I ordered the gyro platter The plate arrived. There was five pieces of pita a clump of gyro meat. Three wedges of boiled potatoes, no flour and some Spanish rice that tasted like rice with tomato sauce. The only good thing I could say is the beer was cold They are way better Greek restaurants in town. We tried this place because it was family owned.. I wouldn't waste my money going to this place that doesn't want your business By the way, my wife's entree never came out

Stopped here on my way down to Venice for a couple of weeks. Actually was going to Kacies but saw Djonisi's and read the reviews. No doubt the best Greek/Medi food I have had. Truly fresh, truly grilled and authentic. Even the Greek rose' was a treat. Beats any Greek I have had in Tampa area or New Orleans area. It was actually one of the best meals I have had in the Sarasota-Venice area, of any style. We always travel with an iced cooler and our own to go containers, so leftovers are always welcome. Thus, the reason I bought two entrees. That and I wanted to try three things. Remember your own to go containers and a flat bottomed gift bag for classy escort of your to go items.

Easy parking in strip mall lot. Very tasty recipes. Loved the tzatziki, humus and eggplant dips I chose as a trio for my starter. I especially loved the pita wedges served with the dips. Beautiful interior, which is much prettier than I expected after seeing photos online. Enjoyed the grilled salmon added to the beet salad. The salmon was fresh and well prepared. I requested the salad dressing on the side. I wish they used a different lettuce than spinach; I'm not a fan of spinach leaves. Portions are generous, so we didn't have room for dessert. Would have loved to try the walnut cake. Service very attentive.

Gyro meat salad w fresh Feta & then Pastitsio

In this Superb atmosphere, there's engaging, friendly & knowledgable staff. Owners even greeted us. There's great ambiance and Delicious food with many choices- MAYBE they'll even have 1-2 items that are off menu. Just ask if there are any recommendations! Thanks for the delicious, fresh food- I personally recommend Pastitsio & Gyro salad as well as a gorgeous Lamb chop dinner. (There's even a couple items for picky kiddos, with quite good chicken fingers! Ha) Our diverse party of 5 (with a Greek guest) certainly appreciated AND HIGHLY RECOMMEND dinner & AN experience with Djonisi's. Hope to return very soon.

    Welcome

The menu is extensive and plenty for the whole family to enjoy. Food is fresh and perfectly seasoned. Delicious and comforting to an empty tummy. The service is never rushed and attentive. The ambiance is clean white walls with bottom blue base. Tables are marble top with black and blue seats. Soft Greek music fills the room and yet it is lively and soothing. Plenty of parking too. Great meal and they have a nice lunch menu too.

I was seated facing a wall so I didn't get a good long look at my surroundings but between what I did see and looking at photos posted on Yelp the theme seems to be chickens. Our server was friendly and available to answer any questions as we spent time looking over the menu. I settled on The Hitman, a double patty smashed burger with American cheese, hen sauce, fried mozzarella, Nueske's bacon, with a side of garlic parm fries. It isn't listed on the online menu but there is a note the menu changes frequently so it may not match the day's offering. Let me start by saying that two of the people at my table got salads and were disappointed that there was too much lettuce and too little other stuff. With that out of the way, let me talk about The Hitman, which I loved. What is Nueske bacon? This is a special smoked flavorful bacon made by the Nueske family. Fork & Hen uses thick cut, and there were two slices on my burger. My burger towered so high there was no hope of picking it up, so I attacked it with knife and fork. Being made with Focaccia bread certainly added to the height, but so did a thick block of mozzzrella cheese. The cheese, melted on the inside and crispy on the outside, was substantial. I would be careful biting into a hot block of melted cheese, think pizza mouth. In my photo I broke into one corner to show that is cheese, so much cheese. The burger patty part topped with American cheese was by itself great, like you might find at a home cookout or Smashburgers. Other toppings were there but for me this was meat and a lot of cheese. And as much bread as you want. I loved my surprising good cheeseburger.

Our table ordered a couple of dishes: chicken and waffles, southern fried chicken, shrimp fried rice, and the hitman. The water tasted like it came straight from the water fountain outside the restaurant. Chicken was overly breaded and salty, and the corn cake was sour. I also don't know how they managed to dry out dark meat. The waffle was semi burnt. The shrimp "fried rice" was soggy, vinegary, almost sushi rice like texture, and shrimp was heavily salted. The hitman smashed burger... the hitman probably killed people with the insane amount of salt on the plate. See the theme? Lighten up on the salt unless you're trying to give your customers clogged arteries. Extremely disappointing considering all the great reviews we saw before going.
