The boat is a historic vessel, the crew is knowledgeable and friendly, and they really put in a lot of effort to make it an amazing experience. We boarded at 7:15 pm, received the safety briefing from the captain, and learned the history about skipjacks oystering on the Bay. The ticket price included drinks (a nice selection of beers, wines, soda, and hard seltzer). Music (oldies favorites) was playing. They had prepared little goodie bags that included swag like little pinwheels and glowsticks and a bagged snack. They also passed out individual small charcuterie boxes with skewers of meat, cheese, and olives, plus a separate container of tiny crackers. The captain let people help the crew unfurl the sail, and he took us way out to see a visiting frigate. There were views of the Bay Bridge and lots of other sights. Around 9 pm, the boat was back in position for a great view of the fireworks. There is nothing like seeing the fireworks from the water. And the ticket cost goes to a good cause--maritime education and preserving this unique vessel.

The good lord blessed us with a picture perfect day, calm winds, blue sky's, and due to the skills on the boat a full cooler. The boat is BIG, hence "THE BIG WORM" lol. Spacious cabin, comfortable seating inside and out. If your fishing with a small or very large party, Drew will accommodate. In short, Captain Drew was disorganized, lacked communication skills and was very rude. We booked this trip a year in advance and was quoted a price of $1200 for 6 people, and $200 any additional persons. Prior to the fishing trip, I texted the captain several questions to prepare for this trip, he either failed to respond or his response was delayed and lacked clarity. The lack of communication continued before and during the fishing trip. The captain texted me the day before the fishing trip at approximately 7:30 am and told us not to come down to Virginia Beach until we received confirmation from him that evening to ensure the weather was suitable for fishing. I had been checking the weather forecast for several days and it was supposed to be in the 70s, sunny and moderate winds and I conveyed that via text to the captain. What he attempted to do, but failed, is tried to get rid of our group so that he could make more money with another group of 16 versus 7 because the weather the next day was forecasted to be very windy. And the group of 16 was booked to go the day after our trip. When he realized we would not wait until we received confirmation since we were already in route, the captain raised the price to $1800 when he had already quoted us $1200 for the first 6 and $200 for any additional. I'm sure he raised the price to get us to cancel, which we did not do--sorry Captain More importantly, because he had to cancel a bigger group and stick with us, he failed to give us a safety briefing before departure. An epic fail as a Captain. At this point, he could care less about our safety. Money was priority for him. When we returned from the fishing trip, he continued to request more money, only this time, it was for two mates. Everything should have been all worked out before we ever pulled off of the dock. Bottom line, this man lacks integrity, he was rude, and was a male chauvinist. I would not recommend this company for a fishing trip.

I payed the security deposit and left a note for Peter Wann about how much we were looking foward to the trip . I booked motel rooms and secured the time off from work . We drove down the night before so as not to be late . We were to be at the dock for a 6 am departure . We were at the dock at 5:15 am and ready to assist or what ever. 6 am came and went as did 7am and 8am. Wann did not answer our phone calls or attemp to contact us . My adult son called numerous times and left voicemails. I called but didnt leave voice mails as I knew they would do nothing to change the situation. He did contact my son somewhere around 330pm that afternoon. My son told him he needed to contact me because I was the one that booked the trip . He didnt. I only heard from Wann Sunday night after I left a negitive review on fishing booking.com. ( they later took it down cleaning up for their clients which are the charter owners ) He offered a free trip ,a reduced cost trip , but he was unable to give back the time that he wasted ! I was willing to stop posting the reveiws untill I saw that it was being white washed by fishing booking.com.I had to get the deposit back on my own Wann said alot and I was willing to let it go but re-visiting the fishing booking.com site I beleive this happens more than just this one time. They categorized the bad reveiws as "Trips canceledby captain" .

My brother and his wife and and my wife and I very recently completed a three hour Sunday morning…read morecharter. We thought the charter was well worth the money. The Captain and one crew member were really excellent. They made sure to cover critical aspects of the boat and abide by all the safety precautions. I actually timed the charter and we were on the water under sail for almost exactly 3 hours. We got there a little early, and the process of familiarizing us with the boat took a few minutes, so the entire process was probably closer to four hours. The boat was clean and in great shape. Some of the electronics we're not working but that was not an issue for our charter. We were provided with basic cold drinks and bagged treats as well as a bottle of wine. We own a Catalina 22 sailboat so we were familiar with sailing, but sailing a Catalina 42 Mark II was a lot different. I was thrilled that the captain offered me the opportunity to sail and tack the boat for an extended period, of course under his watchful eye and guidance. In short it was a very memorable experience and we had a blast! The wind and weather were perfect.

Plus, you get the opportunity to have it all to yourself for you and your loved ones. Tyler is such a nice guy and he made it so special for us. He remembered that we were there to celebrate my daughter and told her congratulations. I barely mentioned that in my phone call so for him to remember it-that was so amazing! He took us all over. I feel like we literally saw everything there is to see. We were able to play our country music, drink our champagne and wine. It was such a beautiful and comfortable boat. We can't wait to return and hopefully Tyler will still be available to take us out.

Tyler, the Captain of the boat, set us up with an awesome afternoon. Started with some wake boarding and tubing. Then, we got some dinner to go from a local restaurant, so we could anchor out and relax a bit. Would recommend to anyone, we had a very good time.
