    Plumbers are almost impossible to even get a return call from on Kauai. I have called and worked…read morewith many over the 25 plus years we have been here. Some good, some very pricey, some... not so great at all. I had a 6 month issue with my solar water heater. The tank was overheating and exploding water all over my indoor lanai. I called one company and they replaced a bunch of stuff, sold me something I didn't need and after six visits, didn't fix the problem and thousands of dollars later. I was getting desperate about the flooding the tank overflow. So I called Kauai A/C & Plumbing. They came out the next day to have a look. Kimo came out and actually listened to what I had to say and what I thought it had to be - the only thing left - a fairly new tank (3 yrs old) just out of warranty. So he left after 1/2 hour. to get a quote ready. I contacted the office back about the quote. It felt on the high side to me (as I replaced the tank and plumbing three and half years ago for half the price) but I was desperate and no one else was returning calls and a few I refused to call back anyway. The appointed was made fairly quickly, within the week. The time to show up was set and they arrived on time. Kimo and Micah came and brought my new tank. In the first day they had it all hooked up and re-plumbed with a new pump, but something was off with the controller. They thought I may need a new one. I explained it was working just fine before. I explained that there were wires in the controller that may need to be hooked up, but we thought it was okay as is. I called the office and they were nice and said they would be back out in the next day, after I explained it still wasn't right. SO... Kimo kept at it. He called two solar suppliers looking for an answer and got one. He came back that next day and had another look. He fixed it that day! Both Kimo and Micah were professional, warm and friendly and didn't treat me like an old lady who didn't know what she was talking about! They also took about 5 minutes and fixed an outside plumbing issue I had with hose attachment to the house. Kimo called me to tell he fixed the heater hook up to the controller and sent pics as my hubby was home and not me. It's humming like a charm now. No more explosions. And hubby gets a hot shower. Not many quality plumbers work repair jobs anymore, but these guys are the real deal and went above and beyond. 5 stars.

    UPDATE (based on how things ultimately played out):…read more I'm updating my original 5-star review based on how this situation ultimately played out. After the April 2025 service (which was specifically for a drainage issue), the unit began leaking significantly more. A second technician from the company later noted that the indoor unit appeared to be sloped away from the drain. By that point, the system was leaking heavily. The indoor unit was installed with very limited clearance to the ceiling (approximately 1"), which can contribute to condensation and drainage issues. Over the following months, the problem worsened to the point where the unit stopped cooling properly and ultimately had to be replaced. There was also visible mold and buildup inside the unit consistent with ongoing moisture and drainage problems. I made multiple attempts to resolve this directly with the company. Their position was that the issue developed over time and was related to maintenance, and they declined to provide any additional compensation beyond credits for the service calls, which did not resolve the drainage issue. As a homeowner, I relied on the company's expertise and only became aware of potential underlying issues after the drainage problem was not resolved. I understand that older systems can have issues, but the condition of the unit worsened after the service that was intended to fix the drainage problem. Based on how this was handled, I do not feel the company stood behind the outcome of the service. I'm sharing this so others have the full context before deciding who to work with. Additional clarification: To clarify, I did not request that the company pay for a full replacement system - only a partial contribution toward the replacement after the condition worsened following the April service.
