I then took it to Mowers and Blowers in Pembroke NH and spoke to Adam. I told him the other guy said it needed a new carburetor. I left the blower with Adam, less than 2 hours later I received a call saying the blower was done. The carburetor was good, it just needed an adjustment, the cost was $45. Swift, and highly competent. Long story short: Go there…read morefirst. The long of it: I showed up at the end of his workday on a Saturday. There were 3 in front of me. The first was knee deep in conversation, as he answered all his questions, next was a pickup of something he'd finished, and one was a spontaneous "Can you fix this, I was right in the middle of ...", which he fixed in about 5 minutes with a part salvaged from another he kept for salvage purpose. Then there was me at the end of the line, it was 5 minutes past closing, with a mower someone else had deemed in need of major overhaul advising I buy a new one. In under 2 minutes, he'd tightened a cable, and the machine was running good as new. As someone else put it, "he saved me hundreds of dollars", and more importantly to me, hours upon hours of shopping for replacement, for no good reason.
