We went on a weekday in August so it was very easy to pull up and get a kayak right away. My mom didn't join us but she enjoyed walking around the park. They were knowledgable about the river systems and lakes which made being on the water even more interesting. We've lived in neighboring Illinois for years but have only just started exploring the waters in Missouri. It was fun and a chance to spend time together in a different way. It also made me appreciate the natural beauty of Missouri. Seeing the turtles enjoying the sunshine was one of my favorite parts. The only thing I would do differently is go early in the morning when it's cooler.

Marketa specializes in the type of riding known as dressage. The United States Dressage Federation says, "Dressage is a French term meaning "training" and its purpose is to develop the horse's natural athletic ability and willingness to work making him calm, supple and attentive to his rider." Marketa helps riders to have fun and be safe while learning to get the best performance from their horses, regardless of the horse's and rider's fitness and athleticism at the time they start working together. Her calm and patient teaching style builds confidence in both horse and rider. She has helped me to be a better partner with my horse, and has inspired me to get more fit myself as she brought my horse along in fitness and training. The barns are very well maintained, always very clean and inviting. Lounge area is well-maintained with many amenities. Tack rooms are brand new and even during hot, humid St. Louis summers, there is no humidity inside them. I appreciate that my expensive tack stays in perfect condition. Marketa is an exceptional trainer, positive and knowledgeable for both horse and rider. My horse and I have thrived at QLD. The atmosphere is happy and positive and focuses on learning and supporting each other. We host clinics monthly, including those taught by Olympic trainer Michael Barisone and the amazing teacher/rider Jennifer Kaiser. Charlie works like a horse (!) keeping on top of all the various projects around the farm, as well as maintaining the polo barns/horses. We also have fun together, enjoy training in the arenas or hacking in the open fields, and know our horses are always well cared for. Charlie and Marketa live on the property, so there is 24/7 supervision of the horses. No more driving hours to fill my horse's water buckets in summer, or check on him in winter. No skimping on hay or shavings either. I know that my horse has the highest quality care, and this gives me 100% peace of mind.

Canine Country Kennel is the best kept secret in the St. Charles area. It is located out on DD in…read morethe Winghaven area on a large farm. Unlike most boarding in the area, they have indoor/outdoor runs for your dog. They will take great care of your dog and someone is living on the property by the dogs. They have 7 day a week drop off and pick up and their rates are very reasonable - about $15 a day. You must schedule your drop offs and pick ups but they are open from 7AM to 4:30PM or so. They also have an area for your dog to play - 223 acres of rolling farmland for you and your dog to spend some time together. They even have sheep your dogs can herd - but you must be a member. I am not a member so I can not speak to this aspect of their business. You do NOT have to be a member to board your pet here. When I am away I call to check on the dogs and they always know exactly what to say - they have called when one is not well and have always been willing to help in any way possible. They are located on a gravel road that is not well marked - but once you discover them you will always go back. (They are directly across from the turn off the Brommesick Park - Swede Road)

He would have his own personal kennel, be allowed the roam in the office while they worked and be taken outside in the grass for potty breaks. There was an extra fee for this and we were willing to pay so he would be around people all day. We dropped him off and the younger girl was SO friendly. She told us, "he'll probably just sit on my lap while I work on the computer." This made me feel very comfortable as this was the first time we had left him. We returned two weeks later and what I found made me sick. The woman who greeted us wasn't the same one who was there when we dropped him off. We walked into the office and the kennel was empty. She said on the 4th day they had to move him to the regular indoor/outdoor kennels because he kept having accidents overnight and she would have to give him a bath every morning. She said she would leave him at 9pm each night and not come back to let him out until 8am the be next morning. He's a puppy! He does just fine overnight in his kennel at home, but his limit is about 7 hours. She went to get him and he was SO excited to see us! He was filthy, smelled bad and had feces stuck to him. I had to give him two baths when we got home and wash his bed, blanket and stuffed toy. It made me sad to think he was stuck out there all day and night, even when they were in the office, when that was our agreement from the beginning. The worst part of this is he came home with kennel cough! We had to take him to the vet the following day and were not allowed to go in the clinic because he is contagious. Now he is on 10 days of antibiotics to help him get better. This kennel may be a great place for big dogs to run and get fresh air, but definitely NOT a place for little dogs - even if they promise to pay special attention to them! We will not use this kennel again and will not recommend it to anyone.
