The Yelp reviews for this Quiet Zone location seem to be "on the extreme", either very good or horrible. My experiences at the Quiet Zone in Torrington have always been positive, the guys working here are friendly & professional, and my car is done with emissions in mere minutes, most of the time. I usually go mid-morning, there tends not anyone else in the shop at that time also. But the one time I went to get emissions earlier in the morning, the process still went smoothly and the wait wasn't too long, even though several people were ahead of me. My wife takes her Mazda here for emissions too, she has had similar experiences with the Quiet Zone in Torrington.

They came out and said the canister for the oil filter was broke. when they show my one could see they cut it with a grinder. second part total bill you could replace the engine with. Item worked on Inspection, replaced canister and changed oil, 1 new tire and used rim for spare. Total $ 3643. To all get a second opinion be for you get work done there. Watch them work on the car dont ever take there word. Face they break things to charge you more. Scam!

I was blessed to have landed in this town with these super kind people; Mindy answered my call after a mechanic shop in the same area told me I was toast. This shop had me almost done in a day just Dodge parts are difficult to match up sometimes! They worked diligently and persistent to get me fixed up and on the road back to traveling! As a walk-in customer I was very happy with the mechanics and all the staff; smart, quick and time efficient! Happy to hear a little background from Michelle and her Dad that started it all! At 111k miles my 2013 Ram 2500 had a transmission issue that forced it into "limp mode" which only…read moreallows 4th and reverse gears (so you can get it to service). I brought to Talcot Transmissions in West Hartford and they charged me $145 to "diagnose" it. They claimed the transmission needed to be removed and completely rebuilt for and additional cost of $5600. I had doubts whether all the work was needed so I brought the truck to AAMCO of East Hartford. At AAMCO Steph did a free check and diagnosed a problem with the solenoid pack. The problem was repaired with new parts and works great (for $1525 including tax). Thanks to AAMCO and no thanks to Talcot Transmissions.

This week was the 4th time over the years I've brought a car to Jerry's for a possible transmission…read moreissue. Our Jeep was shifting gears a bit off, and we weren't sure what was going on. Rob and Jerry checked it out promptly, and Rob called a couple of hours later to let me know it was a false alarm. Not only that, but he took the time to give me a detailed education about this car and transmission which will be extremely helpful in the future in deciding how long to keep this car on the road. Could not have been more informative! PLUS - he refused to take any money since he didn't actually need to do any repairs! Transmissions are not something I (or most people) know a lot about. If I was told it needed expensive repairs, I wouldn't have known any different. You can trust them!!! Jerry, Rob and crew are good people. They are competent, professional, prompt, reasonable and just plain nice. You can't go wrong here! p.s. over the years with those three previous cars, two of them had real transmission issues and Jerry recommended NOT repairing them; the third was also a false alarm. So - they have never actually billed me for anything. Scary honest people!

The Hyundai dealership noted that I needed to get my transmission serviced a few months back (car is around 78K, and I had already serviced it once before around 55K). I was skeptical, so I wanted a second opinion. I called Jerry's and they explained the policy- bring it in early morning, give them time to look at it and we'll go from there. They called around lunch with good news- nothing wrong with the car! I was curious why I would be told that and the simple answer was, " they wanted to make some $$$ off of you, but your car is fine." I will only go here for transmission issues from now on. I just wish they did more than just transmissions. Rare to find honest, affordable mechanics these days.
