After 7 years of tennis training with different coaches, I was accepted by Coach Juan Garcia as a student, and it was the best thing that ever happened to me in my entire athletic carrier. Coach Juan Garcia is a fantastic coach who has been working with me for 5 months now. My game has been raised to an entirely new level, even after the 1st lesson with Coach Juan, and the results were explosive after about 4 weeks of training. After 3 months of training with Coach Juan, I made it on the high-school varsity team (even though all spots were occupied) and I raised my UTR by 1.5 points playing for varsity and continuing training with Coach Juan throughout the 8 week season. I credit the success to the Coach. Coach Juan is very analytical and extremely knowledgeable; he has a precise answer for any challenges I have and fixes any issue with just a few recommendations. While training with Coach Juan, I was introduced to a wide variety of techniques and strategies that were presented in a way that was easy to understand, absorb, and implement. I took the lesson and then was already able to implement what I just learned in the tournament the following week, continuously. Playing for varsity, I had a few matches where I had no answer to my opponent's particular strategy or pattern, but after these matches I came to Juan and the solution was presented right away; I would say that I am comfortable to play vs any opponent in my division now (and I am pretty knowledgeable about the skill level of opponents in my division, as I played in 24 matches this season). I am lucky to continue training with Coach Juan and I hope to make it on the tennis team of a top-tier college that I aim to apply to next year. read more

My husband and I had a great session a couple months ago. He's patient and knowledgable. My only gripe is that his client before us wouldn't stop talking and he wouldn't interrupt their conversation and we stood there waiting an extra 15 minutes while they chatted. Fantastic Tennis Instructor. I have been working with Juan for the last two months and I love that I am being challenged and most of all seeing progress. His rates are reasonable for the quality of instruction you get. I really feel like we cover a lot and that I am gaining momentum every time we work together. I also noticed that he teaches children as well. Not all instructors have the ability to work well with all age ranges. I've been playing tennis for a couple of years but I've always been frustrated with my serve. I always felt it was the one part of my game that was holding me back from being a good player. Since the serve has so many elements (the toss, the takeback, pronation) I felt the best way to fix it was to have Juan look at what I was doing wrong. Juan was able to identify problems I was having and offered very good tips on how to feel the whip of the racket and most importantly to feel balanced after. A tip as simple as putting the pinky on the end of the butt cap increased my flat serve speed and made the motion more relaxed. His schedule can get busy but I would definitely recommend him if you're looking to improve your game. read more

I was having a lot of issues with my serve....constant double faults etc. I was getting close to taking a break from tennis, but decided to go see Juan. Juan was able to look at what I was doing wrong and immediately implement some easy to understand changes to my serve. He is very good at using visualization in order to break bad habits and instill changes that can help improve anyone's game. He also helped me break some really bad habits with my forehand. Unfortunately, due to a super busy schedule, I've only been able to take one group lesson with Juan so far. But that one group lesson was amazing game, Juan was able to improve my game greatly by showing me how to correct any major flaws I had while also tweaking the minor stuff that can make a difference between winning and losing. And let me reiterate... THAT WAS FROM A GROUP LESSON. So just think how good it must be to get private lessons. Group lessons cost about $15 dollars which is a great price(most other places/coaches I've contacted in the area over charge). I don't remember exactly how much private lessons are, but you can contact Juan (his info is on his website). I'm sure his private lessons are priced greatly as well. I highly recommend going to Juan for group lessons or private lessons since you can't go wrong with either. After desperately looking for a good coach after having a terrible unproductive instructure (Jeff Lowe) I contacted Juan. After 10 min I could already see much improvement. He sees every problem there might be with your game and then fixes it efficiently. I highly recommend working with him whether you want to learn a few tips and tricks or get serious with tennis. Maybe I am the exception but I took one group lesson with Juan a few years ago. I planned on taking a private lesson with him but would like to try the group lesson first. There were 3 other ladies. My tennis level was better than all of them. I was put in playing double with the 3. We just hit back and forth (not playing game). I was hoping Juan would observe us and at least pull us out and explain what I did right or wrong and give me some tips Something...after all, it was supposed to be a lesson. He did not. At the end, I just left. He did not even ask for my name. As if I just paid a fee so that I can hit with a group of strangers. I learned NOTHING from the "lesson". I rarely write review especially negative review. But after reading all the wonderful posts, I feel compelled to tell my side of the story. I hope it was just me. read more

My wife started taking lessons with Juan a year ago. She found his ad on craigslist and you can never be sure about the quality of service with that site. Luckily she lucked out with Juan's patience and instruction. Once she became too pregnant to play, I took over her lessons and he has improved my intermediate game a ton. His instruction offers something for beginners and more advanced players. He works well both one on one and with groups. You can choose your own adventure in terms of skills you'd like to improve or Juan is happy to tailor a program for you. Both are very effective.
