Go! Try new and delicious food at Jubba's! All four of us in our party were very pleased with every dish. The menu is not very extensive but there are enough choices, all of which include meat, either beef, chicken or goat(the lunch menus had a couple other options). We had beef sujaar, chicken Kay Kay, and sports dish, which had beef and goat. Huge helpings which included a green salad and sweet tea. Rice was very tasty, as was the sambosa. Granted, decor and atmosphere were minimal but I went for the food and was not disappointed. The owner/chef came out and asked how the meal was and chatted awhile. I love Jubba! If you are going with a group or at least one another person I recommend the sports plate. It is delicious. Their unique tasty food is amazing. This place is the definition of a hidden gem. It's next to the light rail and it's tucked behind some town homes. I haven't tried a dish that wasn't good. Was looking for a halal place while hungry and tired with my equally hungry and tired friend, and found Jubba. The experience was great! The complimentary tea they offered was very sweet, which I enjoyed, however if you are sensitive to that you should water it down and it will still taste great. I have tried both the chicken and beef dishes here with rice, and both are so delicious. The plate came with rice, salad, a little container of sauce, and the well-seasoned meat. I believe the price was around $11 which is great for a lot of food that can last a 5"2 girl two meals. Highly recommend this place if you're around (or even not around, this is food to travel out of your way for) the area. Will definitely come here again and recommend this to friends! read more

Incredible. Delicious. One comment specific to the injera: They make it fresh for each order right there on the grill and it doesn't taste like ordinary injera. It's got more of a pancake taste and isn't bitter. If you're one of those folks who is hesitant about injera, you might like this version. As an aside, I'm really glad to see the retail in what was a cutting edge transit oriented mixed use development (theory) finally making it. The retail here suffered for so many years. read more

This is an interesting, family-run ethnic restaurant. I've found the food quite tasty and interesting both times I've eaten there. The location is convenient if you are commuting by light rail or bus to the Ohlone station, and it's the only restaurant at that station. Those things said, the service is really really slow. They make each dish to order, and it can take 20+ minutes. Despite the convenience location and the lack of ambience, this is not a fast or convenient restaurant. read more

Amazing! I love Somali food. I took a group of people with me who had never had any African foods before. They thought they wouldn't like it and they even doubted my tastebuds. They surely found out that they were wrong. One person even exclaimed that it was the best restaurant food they have ever tasted. I had the tilapia dish which was very delicious. The portions are enough for two people. They have complimentary tea that is a perfect beginning or ending to a meal. I think I ordered 2 or 3 orders of mandasi and shared it with others. My friends and I ordered nearly all the meat dishes including the sambusa. They enjoyed every last bit of it. read more

Been wanting to try this place out for the longest and finally got around to it. My first time trying Somalian food and it was amazing! I ordered the "beef suqaar" plate with rice and my girlfriend ordered the "jumbo steak" plate with chapatti (flatbread) and we also ordered a sambusa to try. This place is hella good. Never had African food prior to this place and glad this was my first. The platters were huge and they were full of flavor. We started with samosas and those were great and shared the sports platter which is enough for 3-4 people. The green sauce that they give you is delicious. I just tried Jubba for the first time. The food was delicious. The service was really good, but a bit slow. We were served by 2 guys, probably a father and son. The older of the two asked if we were first timers and offered us free samosas and gave us their lime rice even though we didn't order it. They also give you some mango-drink instead of water. I asked for water instead, since I'm a man of simple tastes. I like that they brought a whole pitcher of water (or mango juice). read more

The bread was good, but the rice was fantastic. The portion size was right, and the price was quite reasonable ($22 for a dish for two). Other reviewers mentioned the location being hard to find. My fiance took me to this place. I didn't know what to expect. She ordered a sport goat plate and 2 sambosas. The taste blew my mind. I don't think I've ever eaten so intensely to finish everything on the plate. The goat was amazing! I tried sambosas and they were a bit too spicy for me, but my fiance gobbled them in one minute. The service is pretty fast. Everything is very fresh and cooked right there in the kitchen. I actually didn't look at the menu and went with my fiance's suggestion. I used to love this place but tonight was the worst experience I have ever had at a restaurant. We came around 8:30 pm and when we got our table, nobody came to take our orders. We understand it was busy and during Ramadan, but it still would have been nice to have someone come and provide some type of service. We finally were able to flag someone down after about 10-15 minutes of waiting. By 9:40 pm we still hadn't gotten our food and decided to leave. On the way out we told the employees at the front desk and all he could do was shrug and say a quick "sorry". I told him we weren't coming back and he just said "ok". Apparently they had run out of rice and were cooking some, but I don't understand how that takes an hour. They had not come to our table to explain what the delay was for. Horrible service and worse enough for me to never come here again. I'm definitely telling everyone I know about how bad it was. read more

Thank you, I haven't been to Somalia but I can believe I've arrived in a corner cafe in Mogadishu in better times.Without the Internet, Google maps and DoorDash, who would know. This is a secret place to share with close friends. Folks from all walks of life are here, all colors, all socioeconomic classes are represented, all ages from baby strollers to octogenarians like me. And this is a small place. I's well worth coming, use light rail at the doorstep, park your car or bicycle in a park like setting. You might not believe this is San Jose. But we intended to share a meal with family and it didn't disappoint. I had the goat - bring a good set of teeth, my wife chicken (you have never met these noodles) , my son and daughter-in-law the two person Sports plate. We shared and enjoyed. You can't go wrong. We are coming back. There was no-waiting but I expect there will be a line-at-the-door soon. Congratulations.
