The upper eastside facility has a fitness center, swimming pool and a variety of classes (salsa dancing, guitar lessons, tech instruction.) Some classes reflect the large community of Asian seniors including English communication skills for Mandarin speakers. But there's also advanced beginner German! Unlike Saint Peters, this center operates seven days a week. They also offer three meals a day for a voluntary contribution of $1 for breakfast, and $1.50 for lunch and dinner. The fitness center borders on adequate -- a small room with some malfunctioning equipment, and not much of it. (I look at this as an alternative to Planet Fitness whose NYC locations pale in comparison to my Planet Fitness in Ardmore, PA -- but maybe not.) When you enroll, you can participate in programs at all Lenox Hill locations. (Besides St. Peters Church, I believe there's a center in the Village.) I'm a newbie to all this -- new-ish to town, but well over sixty! -- and from what I can tell, the staff and folks who participate are friendly and come from all walks of life.

Senior folks don't know how to leave reviews so on their behalf: it seems that since a change in administration and in kitchen staff, about a year ago, the center has gone downhill. Food used to be cooked in house and the seniors loved it - heck who doesn't love a good home cooked meal? An older photo here shows how good it used to be. It would be served in a timely manner and everyone would enjoy the company. Attendance has steadily gone down since meals are now primarily ordered from elsewhere, reheated and served. Worse, it is not appetizing at all. Public school lunch vibes. They try get folks to take the left overs but no one wants banal food! Folks, our seniors are still people, they deserve to be treated much better. We are ALL getting older, is this the type of food and treatment you would like when you're over 70? Give these beautiful seniors back their good food! They may be older but they still deserve quality. They enjoy being with each other as their own personal circles of acquaintances get smaller, don't deprive them of what could be a great gathering place for them. Bring it back the way it used to be. Henry Street Settlement - Dales Jones Burch Neighborhood Center is a non-profit organization…read morelocated in Lower East Side where the community seek and obtain assistance gaining access to food, apply for housing, healthcare, employment including mental health services referrals which enabling one to sustain stable lives. This Dale Jones Burch Neighborhood Center program was opened in 2019 on the former site of a defunct firehouse and adjacent to Henry Street's headquarters. The staff is very welcoming and attentive. I came here for a workplace training session. After reading their pamphlets and literature about their services I am elated with their offerings available. I am finally included to be on the other side... at long last. Nota bene: All services are free.

The servers are all volunteers. Some of whom are seniors themselves. The room is quite large and welcoming with a lot of natural light coming from the extra large windows. You can see the trees and cars dashing by on the East River Highway. There is always news bulletins of special events posted on each table such as concerts. The staff is excellent; additionally, the participants themselves really make the place lively. They have membership meetings on the first Wednesday of each month where the members (seniors) share ideas with the staff. Stanley Isaacs is like a second home to me where I eat (breakfast and lunch), dance, join groups (Rincon Latino & Aaron's group) and play billiards. I highly recommend it.
