So we have been taking our 3 dogs to another vet (won't mention their name) and have had a decent amount of work done there due to check ups, illnesses and random things that we've needed taken care of to keep the quality of life for our dogs, but we had moments of uncertainty and uneasiness during our time with that clinic. The staff/front desk is SO welcoming and give you peace and confidence that your taking your baby to the right place and they are in the right hands. Super happy with the quality of care here. Dr. Eiri is the best! She is super caring, and was really thorough with my dog Cheese. We first came here because our dog stopped eating and began vomiting for a couple of days. Dr. Eiri made sure to do a complete screening and got Cheese back to feeling better. She also gave us a few tips on what foods to avoid for our puppy... sorry Cheese, no more fried chicken for you! My dog was feeling much better after a week and back to jumping on all the couches. I also recently had Cheese spayed here just a week ago and I am surprised at how fast she has recovered. First time I actually have to go see a vet. My pug is pregnant and we came in with very little information of how to handle dog's pregnancy. Dr. Eiri was very nice and informative. She did a general check up, ultrasound and x-ray for my pug. Also answered all our questions. She's done C-section for pets many time as well so if there's any difficult labor, she can do a C-section (which is nice, so I don't have to run around to find another vet) Overall, the receptionist, nurses and Dr. are nice and easy to work with. I have gone to another veterinary past and recently they haven't been so great with care and concern of the well being of my dog. So I decided to find another veterinary. I did some research and heard about Judys place. Went online and did some research. As soon as I walked in the front desk was very welcoming and kind to me and especially my dog Sabastian. The environment was very clean. The wait time was but less than 5 min. The vet technician was extremely loving and kind to Sabastian and he took to her right away which a good sign. She took her time to figure out what may be wrong with him and made me feel comfortable with the meds she gave him to help him feel better as it did. The next day two emergency room vets said that the medication given to my dog by the vet at Judy's was not appropriate for her situation. We had to put her down the next day. I am VERY pleasantly surprised!! After the disaster we had last year, with my other dog splitting her nail, I was bracing for another financial heartbreak! ((My hound mut, split her nail pretty bad. Went to another vet in El Cajon and was charged over $200!!! For a nail cut, a local ansthetic, and bandage! A week later when I took the bandage off, it was so filthy! And it stunk like rotten flesh!! They NEVER CLEANED THE AREA!!!... Anyway, I digress...)) But I was pleasantly surprised, when I discovered that my American bulldog split his nail down to the quick, I was tempted to just cut it off myself! I made about a million calls and finally decided to just call Dr. Judy (we've been there before, but it is notoriously more expensive then other vets). Shannon assured me that worse case scenario, it would only cost about 60$, and that a tech could probably do the job. When we arrived, they recommended that a doctor see it, in case of infection, and I was tempted to just take him back home, bc "see a doctor", means more $$$$ and being a substitute teacher, I have no money coming in over the summer, so I was pretty nervous! My daughter even offered to use some of her college savings to help out!! But, Justin assured me once again that there will be no extra charges for him to see the doc and they won't charge me to keep him for a couple of hours, while the docs were in surgery... Whew... Ok! We'll see! Returned to pick him up and SURPRISE! They only charged us for a nail clipping! $25!! Wow!! No charge for local anesthsia, no extra nothing! I was so relieved!!! Dr. Tran and the tech that helped us with our first visit and immunization were both wonderful. Dr. Tran was thorough with his exam and explanation of things I needed to know. The tech gave me some information that I wasn't aware of, information that I never heard from the previous clinic. I attempted to book an appointment as stated on their website through the phone number and was placed on hold for a while, just to be told that they're fully booked until winter and they're unable to book the soonest appointment even if it's as far as the winter .This place is useless unless you've been an existing patient I live literally next-door so it's the most convenient location for me but there was nothing that the woman could possibly do for me as far as services ! Previously, we had been coming here for all our animals for about 15 years. Never again. Before Judy retired everything was fine, it's unfortunate to say it's taken a taken a turn for the worst. Set aside the fact we consistently wait 30-45 minutes past our appointment time (something we never had to do before despite the fact there now seems to be even more employees) I am appaled by the recent care of our dog. She has had minor allergy issues as she got older that were taken care of by antihistamines or food, until they got worse and the only option they gave was shots that cost hundreds of dollars which we just can't afford. We started expensive medicated shampoos, didn't really help either. The vet gave the impression of ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ what can you do besides spend money you don't have on shots that MAY or MAY NOT work?? Not only that, it's very difficult to get my 100lb Shepherd to the vet in the first place despite being quite literally across the street as she is terrified of cars since she was in an accident (she's okay she was physically unharmed) and has to be minorly sedated to get her to the vet because she refuses to go near a street or car. They know this, they have to give us the pills every time. We have to muzzle her because she is SO ANXIOUS and scared by the whole thing. They know how difficult it is to just take her for her shots that they give it to her all at once so we don't have to resedate her. Recently, it got really bad. There was a flea issue, old flea medicine doesn't work anymore. Fine, okay, New flea stuff. But something still wasn't right and we knew it. Biting herself to pieces and she just wasn't right so we went in and they did a full work up with blood and urine and when we went back for the results they said she was fine. We asked if it was mange, no they said. Okay, great not mange, but SOMETHING ELSE WAS WRONG. No they said. But look at her!!! Fur falling out, skin inflamed, crusty skin, weird smell generally very unhappy dog. "It's just the fleas, she will be okay." You know when something is wrong with your dog. You just do. We ended up taking her to another vet in lakeside. They took one look at her and said "yeah it's a skin infection" they gave her one shot and other medicine that cost a quarter of what Judy had last charged us. Within 24 hours, she was no longer biting or licking, absolutely no redness to her skin. And she's eating and smiley and so happy again, she looks 5 years younger. We asked about long term shots for allergies and told us what Judy's had suggested, "oh no we NEVER offer that stuff unless we've tried everything else its so expensive!" YEAH IT IS It's about a week later and my dog is transformed. Obviously the infection isn't gone she still has some antibiotics to get through but she's a new dog. Usually she's one to constantly lick to to point she needs a neck pillow to stop herself. She maybe occasionally licks her paw as any dog would do. I am so angry because we had no reason to not trust the only vet we have taken our dog to since she was born 11 years ago. It was only us looking at our poor animal who was obviously suffering that made us finally take her somewhere else just to be sure. And the vet in lakeside after looking at our records didn't seem surprised we had come from Judy. Sure, maybe the fleas caused the infection, but why didn't they notice it???? We noticed SOMETHING was up more than fleas. My SO also takes her pets here and after seeing the transformation of my dog (and knowing her very long and frustrating history of biting and licking) will also stop taking her animals here. Its devastating, my grandmother always said it was downhill since Judy left and I always choked it up to "well you prob just miss the old vet you know" and now paying close attention over the last year as we have tried to solve this issue she is 100% right. I know my dog is an extreme case, and a complicated one. But I feel like anyone could see there was some sort of problem, we did. They should have. And now I'm questioning all the medicines and treatments we have paid for or have been urged to pay when the comparitively cheap shot they gave us did wonders. You can't make money off of people's pets. Shame. read more

I'm so mad! My dog is current on her rabies and vaccinations. She needs bordatella to be kenneled because the petsitter flaked three days before Christmas. I called Dr. Judy Veterinary's office yesterday, explaination ensued, they said "come in" in the am for a walk-in appointment. Today, I walk-in with my 90 pound dog and they tell me, "she needs an appointment, we're booked solid, we can make an appointment next week, and we only have one doctor today." I have my second dog with me, current on vaccinations, and he gets his bordatella. So, only one one of my dogs get their bordatella and I'm left high and dry to find another Vet and establish new patient rapor, after first picking up paperwork at Dr. Judy's Office to prove current vaccinations sin bordatella. We liked Dr. Judy when he was the Vet, but it's not the same place since he's now retired. The vet we took our dog in to see there, had never seen our dog, it was a first time visit. She came in, knelt down behind our dog, and began feeling all around her back end, this took our dog by surprise, and being in a new place with strangers, she became upset. They made US put on the muzzle! She's not yet been introduced to a muzzle! Scared her more. Vet could not decipher what the problem was after X-rays, and sent us home with pain meds. My bf brought 2 stray kitties home, while they're adorable, they can have lots of problems. Astro, our boy was not eating and was peeing at inappropriate places. A quick google search suggested he might have a UTI. I took him to a local vet down the street and they said it was unlikely that it was UTI because he was so young. They wanted me to pay almost $300 to run some tests so they can be sure. We were then recommended Judy Vet. We brought Astro in the morning and they knew right away it was UTI. Elena helped us right away and was able to tell exactly what was wrong with Astro. I love talking to individuals who listen to you and not just quickly dismiss your concerns. Elena was so patient and knowledgeable, such traits are always appreciated. Also, Dr. Judy was so professional and knowledgeable that after we picked up Astro he gave us a follow up call to see how he's doing. The level of care and love for animals he has is immeasurable. You can tell he really loves what he does. Being new cat owners, I'm worried about every slight change since I don't have any prior experiences owning a cat. When my cats were throwing up, I gave Judy Vet a call and the front desk girls were always able to address all my questions and concerns and gave me terrific recommendations. Turns out, my cats were eating too fast. Recently found out Comet, my stray girl, has worms. The receptionist was able to quickly diagnose that it was worms and prescribe me medications. We've been taking our dogs to DrJudy for the past 13 years. We've seen everyone on staff at this office and have utmost confidence in their competencies to care for our pets. They are kind and compassionate. When two of our dogs had cancer they were clear and supportive concerning our options. They helped us make decisions regarding their care as the cancer progressed. When one of our dogs became ill with colitis they gave us a pill regimens and called a couple days later to see how he was doing. I've never had a vet follow up like that. When we first moved here we used the vet on Broadway,Animal Medical Center. That place felt like they were only in it for the money. (I don't understand how that even happened) I wrote down all information I need on a paper and gave to them. yet, NO BODY there get right. It caused test result delay, extra trip to them and extra shipping fee for the test results to get mailed directly from the lab because there is no way to give a chance to trust them. Dr Judy is a great Vet. He has a wonderful bond with my dog. I have been bringing her to this clinic for some time as he knows her well and can almost talk to her! He's conservative with his treatments and won't overcharge. My parents have taken their pets here too. The staff are friendly and knowledgeable.
