The clinic is in an unassuming storefront in a strip mall. Inside, it's bustling and cheerful. The front-desk lady who greeted us (and was also our vet tech) was very nice. We were seen quite promptly, and the tech did a thorough and gentle exam on both kitties. The vet, Dr. Bader, was excellent and thorough and pronounced both kitties healthy. We were thinking this visit would be a one-off, only because there are vets much closer to our home, but now we're planning to make this our new vet clinic. The care is good, the staff are kind and friendly and the clinic isn't owned by VCA or another corporate entity. (Our previous favorite clinic was bought by VCA a few years ago; prices have skyrocketed, staff turnover is very high and you never see the same vet twice because they leave so quickly.) We hope our kitties stay healthy for many years, but we'll be bringing them back to Steele Canyon for their yearly wellness visits and future health needs.

Every appointment I've had with Animal Care Clinic has been with a Vet who very clearly cares about what they do and demonstrate compassion and gentleness with my finicky fur baby. I have gone to PLENTY of vets and I assure you this is the best I've found so far in all of San Diego and very much worth the longer drive. Parking is always available and there are several appointment times making it easy to schedule a visit. The only caveat is that it is rather pricey. I will always do the best I can for my cat, so I know it's worth it. But it can be quite a high price so make sure it's in your budget.

We brought our puggle in because one of her nails was growing abnormally and needed attention. This was a follow-up visit after an initial appointment that cost $392 for an exam and antifungal medication. At today's visit, we were given two options: sedate her for about $200 and trim the nail, or trim it without sedation and give her something for discomfort beforehand. We chose the second option. The nail was trimmed back, along with the rest of her nails. When we received the bill, however, we discovered we had been charged nearly $100 for a Carprofen injection that had never been quoted. My wife questioned the charge, and the technician acknowledged the concern, but by then the injection had already been administered. The total bill for today's visit? $317. That included the injection plus $37 for two Carprofen caplets. So after spending more than $700 between the two visits, we ended up with a trimmed nail and a lot of sticker shock. To be clear, Dr. Sullivan was great. She was professional, caring, and took the time to explain the treatment plan. My issue isn't with her. It's with a process that seems increasingly focused on adding charges and selling services rather than providing transparent, affordable care. After 25+ years as a customer, that's disappointing. Pet owners should ask detailed questions and get all costs in writing before authorizing treatment. Sadly, it's probably time for us to find a new veterinarian.

I felt very safe with them both as they examined my very wiggly ham. Maple ended up needing a tooth trimming which was done very quickly. I could hear them gushing and giggling about her as they treated her as well, which made me feel like they really cared! I was incredibly nervous to bring in my hamster to get her tooth trimmed but now I will feel at ease knowing that she is in great and informed hands!

I worked at veterinary hospitals for years and I know a good vet when I meet one. The care at Singing Hills has always been knowledgeable and thoughtful. We usually don't have a long wait to be seen. Then stupidly I went back to him for my German Shepherd who had been getting bigger, despite no added food. He told me she was healthy and to feed her less. I was right, he insulted me by telling me I was feeding her too much. I'm then told that I would have to pay a deposit of $80 just to book the appointment now because a lot of people cancel apparently. Why does the online system not make you do that then and why would I have called to change the appointment if I was planning on canceling?
