What's cool about Blue Field is that it's not your typical farmer's market. It's held at night every Saturday from 6-10 PM rather than your usual morning/afternoon. And they offer a lot more than vendors: games including cornhole, an outdoor bar serving beer/wine with a couple TVs, food trucks, and live music. Creates a nice experience. The downside is that there aren't a lot of vendors. Out of the few that were there, only a few were offering food. No produce at all. It's a small farmer's market so I would've liked a greater selection.

This is a day where tons of community service projects happen all across Houston all on the same day. It was a very large turnout of church groups, students, companies, organizations, and those just wanting to give back. The event was fairly organized. One side was helping to pull up all the weeds in order to plant new foods. The other side was transporting lumbar to eventually be able to build a fence. It was really nice to give back. Im hoping marginalized groups are able to access these resources. I look forward to learning more and donating more of my time here.

The gardens are well planned, well executed, and a joy to work in.

After making a purchase, my mother who had just traveled internationally for nearly 24 hours to visit me wanted to buy another bag as a gift for friends back home. We waited in line again, but the cashier refused the sale because they recognized us from our earlier purchase. However, we saw other customers rejoin the line and purchase additional bags without issue. There were no signs explaining this policy, and it appeared to be enforced only against us. As Asian customers, this left us feeling singled out and questioning whether discrimination played a role in how we were treated. What made the experience even more upsetting was the way we were spoken to. The employee's attitude felt rude and accusatory, as if we were doing something wrong or trying to steal, when we had simply followed the same process as other customers and spent a significant amount of money in the store. We left feeling embarrassed, upset, and unwelcome. I would appreciate an explanation as to why the policy was applied differently to us than to other customers.

The Cacao smoothie is made with Mexican cacao, chia seeds, banana, almond milk, flax seed, hemp seed, maca powder, date, and coconut whip - so good! They offer more than cold press juices and smoothies. Acai bowls, elderberry juice shots, dragon fruit bowls, housemade almond butter, chia pudding... I think I spotted vegan donuts in their cooler, too. Why five stars? It's locally owned, woman-owned, and I appreciate the healthy options. It's so dang hard to find healthier food/drink options in this neighborhood filled with endless options for taquerias and refresquerias. I'm not complaining, I'm just sayin'.
