Just had my first ever boudoir shoot with Brianna 2 weeks ago and it was so worth it. The ladies were really understanding when I had to reschedule. They have the best service and respond so timely. I looked at a few boudoir studios in the area but this one had the best studio backgrounds and closet to choose from. The hair and makeup style is very much my style and classic as well. During the shoot they let you try on as many outfits as you want, which was really fun. It was a hard decision to only pick 3 but Brianna gave good feedback to help. The shoot was fun but I was definitely sore the next day from all the poses haha. Brianna would show you exactly how to pose and you'll feel really weird and strange but trust the photos will turn out great. Katelyn greeted me with such warmth at the studio and offered me a beverage (water,tea,etc) and then we headed upstairs where you get your hair and makeup done and select your outfits for your shoot. I found JKB studios doing a quick online search for Boudoir photographers in the area. Instantly I knew Julia's work was what I wanted. I immediately booked an appointment and I'm very thankful I did! I was very eager but also a tad bit nervous in the beginning. However those nerves quickly faded as the energy in the studio became fun, flirty and most importantly, comfortable. All traces of being shy or lack of confidence were quickly dropping off with every outfit we tried on. Which keep in mind, even if you don't have a sexy outfit on hand, Julia has you covered! Or maybe you don't want to be covered (; During the shoot there was so much open communication between Julia and myself. I never felt like I was on my own in the sense of needing to come up with my own poses. She has such an eye and knows all the right poses that work well with your body. How do I give 10 stars? a completely magical experience from start to finish! I have never been out to Claremont before and I didn't even know we had such beautiful mountainscapes out in LA. But I digress - now about Julia and her magical team and work: 1) Kaitlynn greeted me and offered me champagne - since it was early in the morning I passed on it but know you will be offered :) 2) Ginger was my makeup artist and hair stylist and she was super fun, relatable, and did exactly what I wanted without me needing to say very much. Yes, she is a mind reader. I could'nt even believe how I looked. I looked like myself. just enhanced! 3) Julia automatically made me feel at home, with her goofiness but also her professionalism. Having done boudoir shoots a few times, it's so important to feel safe in such a vulnerable state - but what I loved the most was the way that she would help me with poses and since the movements were dynamic, she was able to capture the best photos EVER. I felt so safe that we got to really experiment and play with things I never thought I would! 4) I don't know what kind of camera magic she has but every single photo was just unreal. I didn't even know I could look like that. 5) an unending array of lingerie for you to choose from! As a tinier person I was nervous I'd be left in the dust with only a few choices but we had so many options and I got to try all the ones that looked interesting. 6) the whole process took about 6 hours (and I opted for the wet look because, duh, why wouldn't you go all out at Julia Kay Studios!) and with all the proofs it was so difficult to choose. 7) Julia met with me over Zoom a few weeks later and helped me to narrow down the photos... I have always wanted to do a boudoir shoot and I am so happy that I picked Julia to do mine! She is located in Claremont in a beautiful studio. I reached out to Julia to ask about her pricing as well as options and she replied really fast! She was so detailed orientated with her process! She emailed me a to do list prior to the shoot as well as provided any helpful tips. Where do I start?! I turned 40 in October and decided to treat myself to something since as I joked to my hubby, everything goes down hill after that LOL. Everything on their website is true. You literally show up and everything else is taken care of. There's a makeup artist who does your makeup and hair. Lily was my MUA and she did a faaaabulous job. I gave her an inspo photo of Selena Gomez's 'hands to myself' music video. After makeup, Natalie picked some outfits and had me try on some lingerie. She made sure I was comfortable with the outfits. I went with two outfits and sheets for the third. I also brought my hubby's work shirt and did some shoots with that. Natalie was so wonderful to work with. She instructed on what to do and how to pose. (These poses are NO joke!!! You will be sore the next day!) I'm more shy and reserved when it comes to stuff like this but Natalie made me feel comfortable with the whole process. We went over the photos over zoom and she was extremely patient with my indecisiveness. It was really difficult to narrow some of the photos down. She took some really great shots!
