In order for the child to use the inhaler at school a form must be filled out by the prescribing doctor. Sutter Pediatrics takes 3-5 business days to sign the form, but if you are willing to pay $18 they will have it in up to 24hours. Kid has to stay home from school or go without a need inhaler at school because Sutter can't put a signature on it without making you way up to 5 days or paying them. Irritating.

I always felt safe and cared for as a child in this office, and I really loved all the paintings and decor in the different rooms. The giraffe, train tracks, hanging monkeys, and tree painting will always be etched upon my mind! All of those fun touches really make it so much more comfortable when you're a kid. And of course I absolutely loved the reef tank in the waiting room. Here or there you might deal with a bitter receptionist but you'll find that everywhere. My mother really loved Dr. Chapman and this office as a whole and again, I couldn't have had a better childhood doctor. They were always on it and we never ran into any issues with incorrect or late prescriptions, inaccurate advice, etc. For the sake of transparency, I haven't been a patient here for five years so I can't speak to how the office is currently, but they deserve the five stars from a previous patient who is a happy and healthy adult. They lady gave me heated garments to change into and then there's a separate waiting area with nice lounge chairs and a giant tv plating relaxing music and shows sea titles and fish gracefully swimming across. Very nice, relaxing way before one gets a mammogram done! Also I should've ask what the technician's name was. She was sooooo SWEET and down to Earth! She was close to my age and from Georgia, which is crazy because my best friend just moved there! So as she tactfully did her tech pictures of me, we had some great conversations about California and Georgia living! The whole experience was amazing, with everything at hand. Our experience with Stanford's cancer department in Redwood City was one of the most painful and…read moredisappointing experiences our family has ever gone through. My mother initially had a tumor that we were told was non-cancerous. She underwent approximately six months of chemotherapy and radiation. Within months afterward, her condition deteriorated dramatically, and the tumor was later found to be cancerous and had spread throughout her body. At her next major follow-up, we were devastated to hear that there was nothing more the doctors could do to save her. To this day, our family is left questioning whether the original treatment plan was the right decision and whether surgery to remove the tumor earlier should have been considered more seriously. We will always wonder whether a different approach could have given my mother more time with us. Another major concern was the teaching-hospital environment. There were often students or trainees involved alongside doctors. I understand that future doctors need to learn, but when your loved one is seriously ill, you need to feel completely confident that every decision is being made and supervised by highly experienced specialists. Instead, there were times when we felt like my mother was part of a learning process rather than receiving the individualized, senior-level attention her condition deserved. The waiting times were also extremely frustrating. A cancer patient going through chemotherapy and radiation can become incredibly weak and exhausted, yet there were occasions when my mother had to wait far too long to see the doctor. For a hospital with Stanford's reputation and the enormous cost of treatment, families should expect better communication, greater compassion, better time management, and much more attention to the patient's comfort. We went to Stanford believing we were taking my mother to one of the best medical institutions available. Instead, we were left with heartbreak, unanswered questions, and the feeling that her treatment and overall experience could have been handled very differently. No family should ever leave a cancer center wondering whether different decisions might have saved their loved one. I strongly encourage families to ask questions, seek second opinions, understand every treatment option--including surgery when appropriate--and make sure they are completely comfortable with the medical team and treatment plan before proceeding.

After delivering my bad news with great sensitivity and gently walking me through what was coming, she did my potentially disfiguring/disabling neck surgery with remarkable precision. Every single physician I've seen since then -- from top oncologists to ER doctors to the friggin' allergist -- has expressed unsolicited admiration for Dr. Gurney's work ("Wow, that's the most beautiful resection I've ever seen. Who did that?"). I'm back to leading an active normal life, and I have a pretty good chance of living it out, thanks to this gifted and delightful doctor.
