The food description overstated the delivery. As with similar places, brunch in NYC has just been a cash cow and s cheap experience. One of the wait staff also had poor communication skills about an out of stock ingredient, rendering my friend's order essentially obsolete. The Chicken potpie was absolutely amazing. I love the "chic" take on the potpie with the puff pastry and taste of the wine was absolutely superb. My friend had the goat cheese with bacon jam. Sooo GOOD GUYS! Its everything that I thought it would be. Julia's is a cute staple in the neighborhood. I love the decor inside. It's quaint so make sure you catch a seat by the window. There's a nice ledge to put your belongings. The cocktails are $12 which is nice considering NYC prices. I'm only taking off a star for the service. Will never go there again! This past Sunday, 9/8/24 we were thrown out of the restaurant simply because we told the waitress/ "Manager"(short brown hair lady with glasses) that the people she kept calling on her wait list were not outside waiting . She had 2 empty table and 2 chairs at the bar and insisted that she had go through her wait list before giving us a table (though theywere customers that clearly left). She finally sat us down and that's when we told her that there was no one waiting outside... she started arguing as to why we made that statement . She told us to leave and called us fuc--kin as-- hole !!!! We then went to Plein Air to eat and they were wonderful . We go to Rolo as well and they r fantastic with customers.... Never in our lives we have been treated like that by a so called "Manager" We will really like to know who the owner of this place is .. Hello everyone! Julia's is such a lovely and homey place. I work hard as a teacher and the staff are so nice and always asking about my day. The service is amazing. Even on super busy weekends they entertain me and my silly friends and jokes. They always ask about my darling kitty Stoli girl which is so kind! The food is delicious especially the roasted potatoes, chicken sliders, bacon, and the salads are so crunchy and fresh. I highly recommend this spot! I would rate Julia's four and a half stars. They have a great list of wines by the glass. It features a nice variety of wines. Our waiter was very knowledgeable about the lost and offered some great recommendations. Interesting menu for food too with many vegetarian friendly options. I had the mushroom melt which came with a couple side salads. The sandwich had a perfect crust. I liked the creativity of the sandwich. My wife had the goat cheese melt and the pork arepas. The staff and the owner are wonderful people who are all connected to the ridgewood community in various ways. Great sense of style, great energy, accommodating staff. I don't drink and every time I have order a mocktail I have been impressed. There is a sense of community within the establishment which is what I think many people are looking for in the city. Brunch spot by day and bar lounge by night, Julia's is the epitome of local charm. I'm already hooked by this neighborhood gem and it's already become my go-to for brunch when I'm in town. The front room near the entrance serves as an elegant bar area. The adjacent room is a beautiful sit-down dining area. Julia's serves a small brunch menu but trust me when I say that every little thing on the plate tastes good. We ordered the Steak and Egg Scramble and the Old Standby. Like I said, everything was delish from the bread to the potatoes, but most notably the steak and the giant bacon. Today, the Pumpkin Pillows (pancakes) were served as Chocolate pillows instead. My regret this whole trip was to not order these Chocolate Pillows because when I saw someone order these while on my way out, OMG.. my jaw dropped. We ordered the BLT with avocado and fries (We were informed there were no more buns, only sourdough bread; and no more fries or chips. My wife and I have been in Ridgewood for over 5 years and we've been dining here pretty consistently during that time. The OG staff is rad (I follow a few on insta) and the food is great. Their bacon and eggs are no joke! And their drinks are fun and delicious (and boozy). Unfortunately we'll have to take a break from Julia's. My wife and I sat down for dinner last Friday and our server (a new guy?) threw us some major shade. And it wasn't busy or anything! (We went early to avoid the rush). My wife's favorite dish wasn't available so she jokingly asked "what's the secret intel on when I can come in and get it?" Our server (in a circuit board patterned onesie) responded "yeah that's not how restaurants work, ok?" We really didn't dig the downtown attitude from the new guy so we bailed. Really enjoyed this place! After searching for a place in now deserted Wykoff, Brooklyn my boyfriend and I found this gem through Yelp. Service and servers were so sweet and even though we were first timers, we can tell this is a neighborhood favorite. They had a "mimosa kit" which I found amazing since most places skimp out on champagne so it was fun making our own personal mixture. They followed proper covid dining protocols and had hand sanitizers in every table. They also have heating lamps to keep you somewhat warm under the frigid winter air. Best breakfast sandwich in Ridgewood. When I'm in town, I have to spend a morning at this wonderful place. It's a must.

This spot has a cute wine bar vibe. Very cozy inside with fun decor. Approximately ten tables inside and seating is available at the bar. There is also seating available in the shed outside, but it is not heated. Some random kids were sitting in there and smoking weed when we went, so its probably not a good spot to sit in during the colder months. Service was good and attentive. The drinks were decent. Food was ok - we had the patatas bravas and sweet potato hash. Sweet potato hash is waaaay overpriced - $14 for a tiny portion of sweet potatoes and chickpeas. The patatas bravas were $7 and the portion size was the same as the sweet potato hash. My friend had the chicken pot pie turnover, which she liked. Only one item on the dessert menu, there should definitely be more. Also - very few good vegan options. It would be nice if they expanded their dessert menu and added some vegan options to it. Coffee was good. Overall, definitely a good place for a date or a quiet evening with a friend or two. Beware - parking sucks!!! read more

Currently, they are seating outdoors during business hours, in the event one still wants to get their brunch on these days. There's a generous variety of beer and wine (and some cocktails). The food is delicious and extremely reasonably priced. I had the arepas con heuvos with pork, which was excellent. I also was able to "borrow" a few spicy hash potatoes, which were excellent as well. Julia's knows what I want. This is the neighborhood's go to brunch spot. And when you're in Ridgewood there isn't too many options. The real reason this place is busy though is because it's mouth watering delicious! It was my first time heading over and the place was packed. There's a small room when you walk in with a bar and the second room has larger tables where more families and strollers can chill. I took the spot at the bar. I attempt to keep my Sundays as me days and try to not socialize. I loved the bright red walls in the first room with small potted plants in a shelf, chandelier looking wine glass holders above the bar and the cool tattoo style art work on one of the walls. When I looked over the menu the "arepas con huevos" pulled me instantly. And once I have my mindset there is no turning back. I had never done arepas for breakfast. These were a corn and scallion arepas with eggs on top and a jalapeño pesto served with a simple arugula side salad. Damn! It touched the salty, the sweet and the spicy parts of my tongue. I think Julia's is actually a trendsetter! Bring on the arepas baby! I can't wait to return and try the smothered mushroom toast. I'm a huge fan of mushrooms and cooked right can be like heaven. And I loved that there was even a Vegan Veggie Hash. Sometimes I go through a vegan craving and I also have vegan friends. I'm happy this place can cater to all kinds of eaters. I've returned to Julia's for brunch and have to say while the food remains good, the service is lacking. They do not take reservations, which is what it is. They are definitely busy on the weekends, and you may experience a wait. We were seated at a table and after 15 minutes no one had come near our table to take our order - drinks or anything. A waitress took the order of a table that came in at least 5 minutes after us. That was the last straw. I had to go to the bar to tell someone that we still hadn't had our order taken. They are simply understaffed. Drinks take at least 10 minutes to arrive after you order them. The music was also super loud and made hearing the people at your table difficult. My husband, baby girl, and I came hear for a Valentine's day family brunch. The waitresses and staff are super warm and friendly. They are also all good looking ladies hahaha. The area is very diverse and parking was easy to find. The location seems a bit random, in the middle of a residential area, but the quiet was nice. The decor is charming and gives you a cozy feeling. With the outdoor garden it feels like you were walking into someone's country home. The food is delicious and fresh. I highly recommend the arepas with spicy pork. The smothered toast was delightful, with mushrooms, pesto, and two sunny side up eggs. The cocktails were on point. Lavender lemonade was refreshing and had actual lavender buds on top. The bloody Mary had just enough spicy for me. Be careful with the high chairs here. Strap in your little one well. After the owner gracefully handled an insane dispute from some screaming, unruly people on Mother's day (classless, we were sitting outside and could hear them screeching inside), we had an incredible time here, as we do every other time. Julia's is a beloved neighborhood staple. They've evolved so much over the years and always have solid food, great service and the owner literally rearranged tables to comfortably accommodate mine and my friends' kids. They always bend over backwards to try and accommodate everyone and some people just don't appreciate it. Julia's always delivers. It's my go-to for bringing family and friends. It's a credit to the neighborhood, and they've been here for a long time, hopefully for many years more. read more

Second time coming here for brunch. Very tasty and unique food. The coffee here is decent, I wish they made more unique concoctions of coffee recipes. Something fun like that spot Nomads! I had the goat fig sandwich last time for brunch and it was amazing!! This time, I had the Cuban sandwich which was tasty but I prefer the goat sandwich if I had to pick. The service here is good and they are very friendly. The place itself is super small and the tables are tiny! I wish they had more comfortable chairs. The golden lox is a very good dish as well. I've been here many a time. Each time a cute girl with a braid helps me and the interactions are always positive. I come here on a Monday. I totally I understand that your busy but when this different hostess told me I had to wait which was fine I waited. I said we would like to order coffee to go instead she ignored us for 10 minutes. We finally ordered and paid for the coffee. 20 minutes late she comes out and asks what our already paid for order was and it then bring us out one thing right. Didn't say anything. I was hungry so I decided to go in and get the menu and my internet was working. She decided to randomly rattle off the password to the wifi without even allowing me to pull up my WiFi. I then ask what sandwiches they had since that didn't work to which I was told "I'm not going to go over the whole menu with you. Which was actually only 3 sandwiches which I just wanted to eat anything. So I said forget it and ordered a water and a soda to which I paid for and went back outside. I waited for about 10 minutes and went back in to which I asked the gentlemen for my water and soda. She comes by and says it's a Diet Coke and do you want a bottle water. I just said can I get water. Anyway. Then she proceeds to tell me that she doesn't service outside when she clearly came out with her pad and paper to write down an order she even got wrong inside and outside. I paid for it and then she attempted to charge me again. 1) I wanted two coffees Paid for them waited a longer than needed time. 2) I was told that she didn't have time to help me get the menu which is horrible customers service. 3) she tells me that she doesn't service outside when all I asked for was a water and a can of soda. It's not the clients fault because you understaff your space. You don't get mean with every patron there. She told a girl who ordered her food an hour before that she's just gonna have to wait because she's busy and just stood there to stare at the chaos for 10 minutes before she moved onto the next step of dissociation. I'm going to come back but only if the other girl Is there. I understand if your having a bad day but passive aggressive hostessing is the least liked of all jobs. Get a job telling people no somewhere like an insurance company because your clearly in the wrong profession. Rude. Whoever hired this person should reevaluate staff before people get tired of her bullshiz. So she answered back. And she was the owner. Sneakily asking for a to go water and soda? What? I paid for it. And took it outside because my friend didn't feel comfortable with the amount of people inside. I didn't ask for special privilege. Clearly this business owner shouldn't be a business owner if you can't take constructive and very true criticism from a patron who has been to her establishment.
