There's something about those gold arched frames and purple backlighting against the navy blue walls that feels so soothing at Lovejoys. The elevated dance floor and disco ball in the back totally nail the intentional retro aesthetic they're going for, and I'm here for it. I'm tickled by the fact they call their drinks "libations" on the menu and even have a zero proof section. As I get older, I've been enjoying my low-abv and sometimes no-abv drinks. They even have a solid happy hour with $14 house cocktails and $10 glasses of wine. Of course, I did want to try something boozy on this date though. The Tiger's Eye impressed me with the mezcal base and a list of ingredients I could barely name. Said ingredient list included genepy le chamois, cynar, banane du bresil. I don't know what any of that is but if it was in the drink, it tasted great. The Zephyr cocktail with whiskey, passionfruit, yuzu, and something called "fee foam" was also easy to drink. Yet another cocktail bar that I was pleased to cross off my Want to Try list! Lovejoys is a spacious bar serving up a tiny but mighty menu of craft drinks. I stopped by while waiting for a later reservation at The Monkey King nearby and ended up ordering the Zephyr- a whiskey forward drink with passion fruit, yuzu, and lime. Delicious! Zephyr is a stray from what I would usually order but I was itching to try something new and this one definitely stuck out to me. I was honestly pleasantly surprised with it and would give it about an 8/10 in terms of taste and balance. I'm excited to give the rest of the menu a try soon! On my first visit I ordered the Tiger's Eye from a male bartender who had a blonde pony tail and I absolutely enjoyed it. My second visit the following week I requested the same cocktail but was disappointed. The bartender was a younger gentlemen who seemed preoccupied with chatting with his friends and female colleagues rather than making a proper cocktail. His service was unimpressive and unwelcoming at best. A place that beautiful should be complimented with better service! I'm giving Lovejoy 3 stars overall because the second experience was worse than the first. The interior of this spot is, as my friend says, "swanky." Lots of jewel tones and plush seating with gold accents. They have a dance floor for later in the evening as well as a cozy backyard/patio area. I opted for a glass of wine, and they pour samples before you commit to a glass which is always appreciated. I sampled the orange which wasn't as full-bodied as I liked so ended up going with the rose. I'm really not a rose person in the slightest so was pleasantly surprised. I tasted the glass slipper which my friend got and it was a beautiful cocktail with full-on glitter in it. We came to Lovejoys to celebrate the birthday of a relative. We arrived early enough to get a good seat before the craze of the party crowd. It appears there were sever birthday parties in the same night. The place had a nice ambiance and the drinks were pretty good. I personally did not enjoy the first DJ that played music but I believe she was for one of the parties. The DJ changed throughout the night and I enjoyed that second DJ much better. THe night was going really well. The hubs was getting the majority of the drinks and had an open tab. At one point in the night, I went to order the drinks. I ordered several rounds. While ordering one of the rounds of drinks, after ordering 2 other people came up and sked me to order for them. While trying to place the order, the bartender, Julian, told me he's not making them because I am ordering too many drinks. I have NEVER EVER been to a bar and was told I've ordered too many drinks. I was not drunk or rude and was in complete shock. I was able to speak to the manager at the time, Aida, who was extremely helpful. I advised her of the situation and she was apologetic and seemed as surprised as I was. After speaking to my husband, he advised that he was ordering from one of the female bartenders and not the rude male. Leo was working on clearing tables but was also super friendly and helpful. It looks different at night but I highly recommend coming during the day to see the huge mirror and small details everywhere. Okay.. I like it here alot. I came on a Friday night around 1am and there was a nice size crowd. The decor is pretty and its dimly lit. There are tables/couches where you can order drinks if you're with a group and as you head to the back of the spot theres a dance floor. The music was good and I loved the vibe here. Disaster place. The level of disrespect we faced at this establishment was insane. Absolute disappointment with border line physical assault. My girlfriend was celebrating her birthday at Lovejoys two days ago. She bought balloons and decorated the place. We made a flyer, put an official DJ lineup together and invited dozens of people. The owner approved everything. However the whole night went down alarmingly wrong: All of the sudden these men came to the DJ booth and wanted to play. The owner was asking if we could let them dj for a bit. I said of course. There was another party being celebrated in that place so I wanted to be nice and friendly and sharing. First they were missing a cable to connect their computer (asking me if I had it). Then they found it somewhere 30 minutes later. I said they could play after me. They wanted to set up the cables and while doing that, they unplugged the dj equipment and stopped the music. We had to fix it and fight with them and kick them out of the dj booth. The owner was on their side. Instead of backing us up as official djs for the night she just repeated she was sorry. Owner overbooked the venue, the second birthday was larger group (more of our people were still on their way) and she thought she will get more money from them if she lets them play their music. My girlfriend who's birthday it was bought all the decorations and now the other group started to take her balloons to use them for their party. They tried to take the balloons directly from my friends hand and were extremely rude. The poor birthday girl had to get into a physical conflict with them. It was an absolute mayhem. And if we didn't leave we would have to call 911. They were very hostile and owner absolutely useless and unprofessional. Never again. I cannot express how outraged we were from this experience not even mentioning the bday girl ending up in tears on her big day. Yelp deleted my other friend's review, attached in screenshot. Stopped in on a Sunday after brunch with a friend. Let me start by saying this bar is beautiful!!! If you're looking for some place cute, chic and classy, definitely go here. They even have the cutest outdoor space. Initially it was just my friend and I there all we had the entire place to ourselves. The two bartenders were welcoming and sweet. They did mention that they will be getting small bites soon but as of now, their menu is just drinks so eat before you go, or after, whichever floats your boat! This past weekend I hosted a private event(my babyshower) at Lovejoys. From the very beginning Aida and Emmy have been very accommodating and informative. I chose Lovejoys because of the ambience and décor, which meant I didn't have to do much decorating myself! Everyone at my shower was asking where I found this spot and LOVED everything about it.
