I would have given them 6 stars if I could. We have extended family visiting Conway for 1 full day, and wanted to get the best pecan pie available. Julie's was noted as the best, so went there. The staff could not have been more helpful; they cut the pie into slices for us, and provided 12 plates, forks, and napkins, along with whipped cream icing. I ordered a pineapple upside down cake for Palm Sunday from this bakery. When I picked it up I said something about the fact it was sunken in the middle. The lady said that's how they look, but once we cut into it, it was completely raw in the middle and the only edible parts were the edges. This was a $34.00 cake. ABSOLUTELY AWFUL EXPERIENCE!!! I ordered a chocolate cake with whipped cream icing from this bakery for a birthday party. While emailing the details and pick up time I was told that the cake would cost $35 (very reasonable for a plain cake). When I got to the store I was told it would be $50 which made me very upset because it was the day of the party and I was focused to pay or else I wouldn't have a cake. When I arrived at the party the cake was not whipped cream and just plain icing. The cake also tasted stale/had been made days prior. We were forced to sell customers plastic bits instead of throw away contaminated icing or the buckets that would peel. just paid over 50 dollars for a very ugly cake. I ordered last minute so I knew it wouldn't be perfect but they literally printed off the picture I sent and laid a 6 x 6 image on top of a pre made confetti cake. The picture doesn't even sit flat on the cake. if the wind blows hard, the image will just fly away. I could have gotten much better at my local walmart. Original review: I ordered a 1/4 sheet cake for my son's birthday party. I told them I wanted a Hulk cake and I thought they would have some examples or some cake kits since they are a bakery. They didn't so I asked if maybe I could have a cupcake cake with Hulk's face. The worker who was taking my order had to keep going back to someone in the back of the bakery, I guess the decorator and came back and said she couldn't do that but could do a edible image. I said I wanted whipped icing. She said the image properly wouldn't work on that so I said buttercream was fine. When I picked it up, I guess they couldn't print an image big enough for the cake, so they airbrushed the rest of the cake and put an ugly book boarder around the image. There's some kinda of pink below Hulk's pants which I didn't think Hulk was a pink kinda guy. I've attached pictures. The only reason I didn't give the bakery 1 star is because I ordered their smiley face cookies as my son wanted also which are amazing. My total was $60 so I probably paid $50 for this ugly cake. Cake is all icing, barely any cake! This use to be my favorite place to buy our birthday cakes and cookies. Not anymore. After my order yesterday, I won't be using Julie's again. I ordered a small cake and 6 cookies. It's cost over $50. I've never complained about the price before, but I was given adequate cake and well designed items. The birthday cake barely had any cake! There was more icing than there was cake. My issue wasn't the amount of icing, it was the LACK OF CAKE. Had the cake been the thickness it normally is and should have been, the icing would have been appropriate. The cake wasn't even as thick as the knife I cut it with. The ratio of icing to cake was ridiculous. There was more icing than cake. Everyone commented at the party that there wasn't any cake! All of the cakes I've bought there in the past had 2-3 times that amount of cake, so I have something to compare it to! Please see my attached picture. I've never had a cake with those proportions. It was as If they had sliced the cake in half before frosting it and only left the bottom portion. The icing was gross. It had a heavy sickening taste. Most of the people at our party scraped it off. We've never had to do that before. Buttercream icing is the only icing I've ever ordered from there. I love buttercream frosting and have had Julie's before, and it didn't bother me. This time it was gross. The cookies tasted ok, but it took two people to identify that three of the cookies were rabbits (Easter cookies). They were done so sloppy that I was embarrassed to put them out. They didn't need to be elaborately done, they needed to be shaped correctly and frosted appropriately. There didn't seem to be any care put on them at all. Just a blob dipped in icing. I've ordered other "simple" cookies from them before and they looked professionally done. The eggs were ok, although they looked more like circles than eggs. I'm giving them two stars after getting a response from the business because I use to love them and expected more from the business than trying to make it seem like it was somehow my fault for the disappointing product. I know what I ordered and should have been given better quality for the amount I paid. I'm the most upset by the incredibly ridiculous lack of cake. Guess that's a way for them to cut corners. You don't realize they cheated you on cake till you get home and cut it. My last review was 5 stars. I wasn't super impressed last time I ordered and said I wouldn't use them again, but still gave them another chance. I will definitely go somewhere else for my next cake. So will the 12 customers that were at my party. Very disappointing. For $50+ I would expect better. Please support a different bakery. There are others that give better quality and quantity, and apologize when they mess up, not say the customer didn't know what they were ordering. I don't like being insulted or taken advantage of. My husband ordered a cake for our son's second birthday. Everything was fine at the time he ordered (the week before the party) - he even emailed them the design and they replied that they had received it. The cake was supposed to be ready by 2:30pm the day before my son's party. I got there at 3pm and they seemed very confused and then said that it wasn't ready yet. I didn't get it until after 3:30pm. I think that they actually forgot to make it. It is nothing like the design that my husband sent them. Additionally, it looks thrown together and the design job is sloppy. We requested that our son's name be put on top of the cake along with Happy Birthday. At first I couldn't find it. It's squished on the front (not top) of the cake. The worst part of the situation is that Julie's Sweet Shoppe REFUSES to even talk to us about it, much less acknowledge us. They offered to make things right with other customers on their Facebook page, but they seem to pick and choose customers. read more

I ordered a cake for my husbands birthday. I asked them to pipe succulents/cactus as opposed to flowers, as he is a garden lover. They said okay, but when I went to pick it up it didn't have anything but trimming. I asked why it didn't have succulents piped on it and they just looked at me like I was dumb. The cinnamon monkey bread is so addicting, I think about it every time I exit Skyline Drive (which is Mon-Fri!). Forget trying to get fresh donuts before 10 am on Saturday because they will be sold out! I ordered a cake for my son's 8th birthday. I told them I wanted a 2 tier custom Mario cake and feel free to be creative price wasn't an issue. How disappointing! It is not two tier, plain white icing, with a cheap printed Mario picture on top and nothing on the sides. I could have got a better cake at any grocery store bakery. I don't know who gets the advertised cakes that are creative and beautiful but it wasn't us.This literally took 10 min to throw together. Save your money and go to Walmart. Julie's ruined my husband's graduation party. I ordered a pretty simple cake - 1/4 sheet cake with Arkansas Tech green and yellow decorations. I was told the cake would be ready by 3:00 PM. I got there early and was told they were "still working on it". I said that was fine because I was early. Then I was told that the store would call be when it was ready. 3:30 rolled around, still no call so I went back to the store. I was rudely told "give us 10 or 15 more minutes". 3:45 came and I went back to the window and was presented with a supermarket quality cake with a Julie's price tag on it. I was seriously disappointed in the lack of care that was obviously used in decorating his cake. There was no attempt to make it up to us for the 45 minute delay nor the slapped on icing on the cake. All I received was a half hearted "sorry". I have bought many cakes from Julie's and I have NEVER seen a cake like that leave the store. Julie's lost a customer today. read more
