We reserved the four bedroom room that sleeps up to 8. Everyone loved it. Loves: - The combined living/dining/kitchen space. Full oven, microwave, washer/dryer combo (one of those all in one situations), dishwasher, fridge with tiny freezer. Lots of plates, cups and silverware. An espresso machine with tea selections. Lots of pots and pans. Overall, a great space. - The breakfast. Ours was included in our rate and I thought I was a good addition. Eggs to boil, sausages, bacon, vegan options, fruit, toasts. Lots of selection. - Location. I totally get that the location isn't everyone's cup of tea but it had two Tesco Express within walking distance, TONS of restaurants (Bengali, Turkish, Indian, Japanese, Chinese, cafes, pizza... like anything you want). Plus it was a short walk to the Aldgate stop. - Employees. They were all AMAZING! Stars of the show! - The fun touches. There were board games and books in our room plus some available downstairs to borrow. How fun! - So many bathrooms! Each bedroom had their own bathroom which made getting ready so easy. Things I didn't love: - You need a key to get into each individual bedroom inside the four bedroom suite. They lock like a standard hotel room main door. Plus you have to keep a key in the slot for power and AC in the room. They gave us fewer keys than people staying so we were always asking "who has a key?" Ask for as many keys as you have people from the get go. I wouldn't hesitate to stay here again!

The cocktails are creative and carefully crafted. The space is softly lit and comfortable making it a nice place to hang with friends, or that single, special someone. The blood marys are worth noting: the Townhouse's rendition is lovely. The small eats menu will tide you over though I didn't find any of the snacks - pan fried Halloumi, grilled vegetable dip - particularly inspired. However, the maple syrup and curry spiced cashew nuts do deserve a shout!

It is typically full but crowd control is managed well so it never feels actually crowded. Favorite cocktail is Flintlock; I get it every time and the theatrics don't get old and it tastes light and smokey each time. So glad this is around the corner from me as it's sure to impress when you need to and still feel comfortable returning time after time with regular companions.

Breakfast was serviceable and kids ate free with adult purchase. The reality is that when I'm in London I'm not spending much time in a hotel, and with that thought you cannot beat the pricing and cleanliness of the room. Find the location that suits you best. The room itself was great. Modern enough for me, not sure for the pricepoint. It was $204 GBP per night. When I calculated this today, its $264 US, a night. The street in front of the hotel has an access barrier arm restriction, that requires a paid entrance or a key fob to enter. If your using Uber or a taxi for pick up or drop off, you have to walk down to the corner, they can't pick up or drop off right out front. I loved the location because it was easily walkable to all the sight seeing I wanted. Plus the area appeared safe during the day, and at dusk, especially important for solo travelers. Plenty of restaurants across the street. Its literally steps from the London Eye, if that interests you. The drawback is the check in/check out process. There was only 1 person doing it, the que (line) gets long quickly. It was flowing out the door when I checked in and out. And the staff member seemed to move at a snails pace. As if they had never anticipated there would be more than 1 customer waiting. So give yourself lots of time to check in/out, if you are on a tight schedule. The check in/out line is the same. They had an iPad kiosk, but for some reason it was not usable. The entrance to hotel from the street has a flight of stairs, there is no lift or elevator. So if you have heavy bags, you have to lug them up the set of stairs to the entrance. There is no staff outside or inside helping with bags. I guess these small things seem minute in comparison to other things. But can really make or break an experience. At least, if I decide to stay there a again, I know exactly what to expect. The do have luggage stowaway, if you need to store your bag for after check out, but before you leave the hotel. They offer breakfast for a charge when you book the hotel. I think it was aroun $20 GBP per person, it didnt seem worth it. I did not utilize it. Would I stay here again? The hotel brand I would use again, but likely different location.

On our last night there we were able to walk from this hotel to Trafalgar Square, Piccadilly Circus, and see Big Ben without having to use the underground. I loved the well thought out room with the glass wall and elevated shower, window bench with windows that opened a bit for air circulation, presence of wood tone in the room, and quirky yet charming decor. It was an amazing home base for the five days of stay. The window bench had a nice fixed spot that was great to work on and the bed was so comfortable. I loved the scent of the shower gel and hand soap. Staff was really friendly especially on check in and check out with quite a few of our group staying. On the last day, really appreciated how short a trip it was on the Elizabeth line to Heathrow.

We arrived in London on an early morning flight, so we got to the hotel way before check in. The staff welcomed us and was happy to store our bags while we spent the day exploring the city. When we returned after dinner, the staff had our keys ready and had already delivered our bags to our room. When we got to the room, we found a lovely plate of chocolate covered strawberries waiting for us...a wonderful surprise. Our room was small, but about what we expected for London. The room had everything we needed and was nicely appointed. The beds were comfortable and bigger than we expected, which was a godsend considering there were four of us. The bathroom was spacious, even with multiple people using it at the same time. The thermostat only gives a few degrees of temperature control, but it was enough to keep us comfortable. The location was great for us. We wanted to be away from the hustle and bustle of the tourist areas, but still close to transportation, restaurants, and coffee. And that's exactly where this place is...we saw far more business commuters and locals than tourists, found numerous restaurants, coffee shops, bakeries, and bus stops within 2 blocks in nearly any direction, and about a 5-minute walk from a tube station. On the negative side, the staff wasn't always great at responding to pre-arrival communications. The front desk staff's advice was hit-or-miss; seemed to depend on who we asked. Our reservation was for 4 people, yet our room consistently provided only 3 bath towels. And, when we received our receipt at checkout, we found a charge for $4.54 for a beverage, which we knew nothing about. But again, our overall experience was very nice. We have no trouble recommending the place, and wouldn't hesitate to stay here again.

The room was clean and had everything you needed,the boys who slept on "put me up" beds said that the sheet on the mattress weren't that comfortable but they were clean. The staff were well mannered and helpful when we needed anything; which wasn't a lot. We had breakfast at the hotel everyday and it was always being topped up and if there was anything missing and you mentioned it to the staff they went and got it for you. The quality of the cooked breakfast items was great too. My only gripe was that although the hotel was no smoking it was clear that people were smoking and it didn't always smell like tobacco either, but overall was great value for money. The location of the hotel is great for London visitors as you are not too close, so things aren't so busy but the tube stop is just round the corner and in 20 minutes you can be in the centre.

However, I took away three stars because when my partner and I had come back from a long day of exploring London (around 11pm), we found that our room door was completely unlocked, and left open all day. It definitely was not us because we had left a door tag out asking for housekeeping to come and change the towels (which was done)--the door was just left unlocked for who knows how long. This did make me uncomfortable, as we could have had valuables taken from us by anyone who noticed. Thankfully, nothing was taken, but this did leave a bitter taste in my mouth.

This guy is quite a new addition to Travelodge, and it was fairly good. It's definitely cheaper…read morethan the Travelodges more central, but has Clapham Junction literally across the road from it, which has trains to Waterloo and Victoria within 10 minutes, so is pretty good. It's Zone 2 as well so it's fairly cheap to travel up, and this part of Clapham seems very safe, if a bit overrun with suits! As Travelodges go, it's incredibly basic, though they do have some things at the front desk that you can ask for if you need it, like toiletries and hair dryers. Being new, the rooms are very clean and well presented. Of course be prepared for noise from the station across the road at night; if you want to say here you may want to ask for a room near the top floor to minimise sound, though if you're from a city I'm sure it wouldn't be that big of a deal. They have free wifi though you have to ask at the front desk for the password. Overall it's a decent hotel if you're on a very limited budget.

Afternoon Tea at Amba Hotel in The Terrace. Lovely…read more Very pretty hotel. Welcoming reception staff as well as those in The Terrace restaurant. Well spaced tables mean you don't have to yell to be heard & it's still cosy. Nice view too. Our food selection was well catered because I had 3 vegetarians in the group as well as 1 who doesn't eat cucumbers. Seamless service & we didn't get rushed out either. We'll defo come back! Thanks to the entire staff at The Terrace for making us feel so welcome.

I stopped at this hotel to see if they served afternoon tea and scones. I didn't want the full…read moreservice, just hot tea and and a scone on a rainy day. The hostess greeted me so warmly and said I can do the modified version and it would just be about 6 British Pounds. A whole tea service usually costs at least 30 pounds in most places. The waitress, Martinou, delivered me excellent service. I only wanted one scone but she gave me 4, plus the clotted cream and jam and a little cake. I was literally treated like a queen there. She boxed up the remaining scones and threw in some extra tea bags to take home. She gave a coupon to come back, but unfortunately it was my last day in London. I would love to go there again.
